We have had an awesome stay. The accommodation is very traditional and has it’s own flair which we enjoyed a lot. Still, it was very close to Kiyomizu dera temple and Hygashiyama so that you could easiliy walk to get there.
We will recommend this to all our friends!

The room itself was lovely, very clean and had everything we needed. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had no issues with noise whatsoever.
The check in desk is a 25 minute walk from the accomodation itself. This was something I did not realise when booking. This means the accomodation is not close to Kyoto station as I initially thought but the check in desk is. The accomodation was great but there was nothing near the neighbourhood, limited restaurants and quiet streets.

I liked how the entire place was very cozy and had a traditional feel to it.
The blanket was really hot and there was no way to change the thermostat.

Nice quite location, lovely decor, felt really special. A bit of a walk to Gion etc... we caught a few Ubers... bath was fab looking out on the garden.
Nothing really.

Nähe zu Kiyomizu-dera, großes Bad, sehr sauber, hübsche Ausstattung (inkl Yukata), einfacher Check-in, praktischer Koffer-Bringservice
Nächste Straßenbahnhaltestelle leider etwas weiter entfernt, langer Fußmarsch zum Bahnhof :)

The Machiya is in a quiet, residential area and easy to get to with public transport. We found it very convenient that the check in counter is near the station, so you can check in there early and leave your bags and use the day to explore. There is lovely breakfast place that others have mentioned just at the corner of the road the Machiya is on. There's usually a queue outside, so easy to spot. The room was fairly large by Japanese standards, clean and quite modern. There is an excellent washing machine and free detergent available on the ground floor.
There is no staff onsite, but there is a phone to call them at the reception. Nomura was extremely helpful in making our dinner reservations and booking a taxi.
Nothing negative about our stay, although we were expecting more traditional touches. The phone onsite for getting in touch with the staff was not always attended to. I called twice and got no response, but the third time my requests were very efficiently handled.

Beautiful room, traditional experience just as I wanted.
No staff on site at all, check in not at location and if there was a problem only a phone (which is fine but I can't guarantee there wouldn't have been a language barrier over the phone)

I love how traditional the room was and it was close to several temples. The bus ride from the check-in location was about 21 minutes with a little bit of walking but there was a lot to see. There is a free laundry station (wash and dry) with instructions in English which was super helpful.

Tiny, almost classic room with all necessary accessories. As well you got nice kimono (probably need to start sell them).
Close to many sightseeing, cafes, bus stop etc
There is luggage delivery just close to Main railway station.

Style, location and initial cleanliness.
We didn’t get fresh towels until we asked for them. There was no daily housekeeping such as making the bed and replacing towels.

I love this place. It’s so clean. It’s all brand-new. Also near the bus station. Also near a convenience store. I was able to experience living in a traditional japanese house. Plus coffee by the garden! it’s worth it.
I hope there’s more bottled water provided.

The room was so beautiful and relaxing. I loved the garden and the big soaking tub! Such a stunning place! We definitely recommend!
I would have liked water bottles in the rooms, but there was a vending machine outside.

If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese style room with a wonderful shower and soaking tub you’re in the right place! The location was great too! I was able to walk to a few temples and shrines from my room. The room was nice and quiet. Loved the garden in my room. There’s a nice little coffee shop right around the corner (to the right.)
The staff that checked me in was very nice and helpful! They have an English speaking staff member. They delivered my luggage to my room and hailed me a cab. He was very helpful and friendly!
All around, great experience!
