The location was lovely, quiet but still close to amenities. People may need earplugs if a light sleeper as the outside clock chimes on the hour it didn't bother us.
It was very spacious, amble room for 4 people
It wasn't very clean, the carpets had stains, cobwebs everywhere. Bits on the floors that stuck to your feet. As others have mentioned it needs a repaint particularly upstairs and going up the stairs as it looks grubby.
The blind in the double bedroom had seen better days.
Also as mentioned in previous reviews the double bed is so soft, never experienced anything like it .... it was good we only had to sleep there for 2 nights.
There was a small bench by the bins but no other seating or table outside, this was a real shame as the property is in such a lovely location.
It wouldn't take much to make this a fantastic property. As it is, we wouldn't recommend.

The is a lovely old and renovated stone built cottage in a very quiet location. At the front is a garden with a pond and all around are trees and birds including peacocks/hens (which were not noisy). Walk from the cottage about 100m, go through a gate and you are on the grouse moors adjoining Kinder Scout. There is a log buring stove which you are encouraged to use.
We liked everything. TV is small - but we don't watch it.

The location of the property is fantastic for walkers you can walk from your door up to Kinder Scout and back. There is a pub at the end of the lane which serves fantastic food (except in a Monday it’s closed) you can walk into hayfield and you can walk up Lantern Pike.

Beautiful peaceful location with easy access to Kinder Scout .
Unusual building lots of original features .we didn't use the log burner but it would have been lovely .Happily the weather was great so we missed out
The Peacocks are very beautiful but noisy and have a alarm screech which is difficult to ignore

Location for walking was perfect. The peacocks were just amazing and made our stay. Fantastic building and different from the norm.
Nothing to dislike from our point of view. We couldn't quite believe the location.

As soon as we arrived we were like "wow", beautiful building, amazing architecture, clean and very well furnished. Great walks literally on the doorstep, nice local pub just down the road, just a lovely place in general. Have recommended it to all family and friends, would definitely go again for sure. The only down side was the size of the TV, but fortunately we looked at the pictures before we went, we took our spare 42 inch TV with us!! Overall 10 out of 10. Big thanks to Christian for an unforgettable weekend.

it was very spacious and the area made it relaxing a quiet.
the road up to the property was very muddy and uneven making for a harsh car ride up

We had a lovely stay. The cottage had everything we needed and is located in a very peaceful spot with pubs and small shops within walking distance. The moors are right on the doorstep for walks.
The property could've done with a deep clean in places and a fresh coat of paint downstairs.

we had an issue with the wood burner but I feel confident that will be sorted out for other guests

The location was perfect. Quiet, private, and set in and close to National Trust Parkland with lots of walking trails close by. The cottage and connecting crescent is beautiful, simple and historic. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The comfy settees and log burner ware a treat after a good days walking. The WiFi excellent. If I had brought the whole family we would still have had enough room and on a wet day there are plenty of games, books, music TV etc to keep everyone happy. I have already reccomended it to friends.
One picture frame was broken and loose. Cover on kitchen side of lounge door handle kept coming loose. Lounge curtains coming off 2 clips.
Just little things that are quickly resolved. Certainly wouldn't put me off going back.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage in an idyllic location.
It was clean, comfortable, and so very peaceful.
Loved being surrounded by all the birds and squirrels - even if a peacock did give me a heart attack by staring through the window!
Peak District quite literally on the doorstep.
Good WiFi too.
Well stocked kitchen with all the essentials, and lots of cushions and blankets around the cottage to keep cosy under in the evening.
There were only 2 of us so loads of space. It would have still felt spacious with 4 people.
There wasn't really anything to complain about. The only gripe was a personal choice thing, the bed was a double (used to a king) and the mattress was as soft as a marshmallow.. But in no way will this deter us from booking this cottage again in the future.

The location is idyllic 😀 We enjoyed seeing the resident peacocks more often than we saw people!

We had an amazing stay at Gamekeepers Cottage, its a very cozy and lovely cottage, the location was great away from the usual traffic, in the middle of the wild life. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need. We loved the chimney, not to mention the variety of books and cd's..Ohhh almost forgot you've earned some points from my little girl she enjoyed the puzzles she found .
Highly recommended, definitely we'll come again.

would have been nice to have wood provided for the full length of stay instead of a charge of eight pounds after the. first day
could have been cleaner.cobwebs in bedroom.Kitchen equipment felt greasy as there is no dishwasher.kitchen equipment poor quality

The lovely functional woodburner

The quaint building with the ducks and pheasants roaming everywhere. The seclusion. Great position for exploring Peak District walks and pubs good in nearby locations. Beds very comfy. Selection of CDs, games, books etc. Cosy real fire in colder months I’m sure. Memorable stay!
The hourly clock chimes, but I am a light sleeper! The kitchen could have been a bit better organised, but fine for a short stay (no spare cupboards for food etc). We cleared away some of the cobwebs etc, but it is an old building and added even more character! Shame no real seating to better enjoy the pretty courtyard as so much potential there. A bigger TV would have been great for the large lounge and maybe DVD?

Fantastic location with many walks from the doorstep. Hardly needed the car all week. Easy stroll into Hayfield for eating and drinking opportunities.
If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs as the peacocks are beautiful but very noisy!!

The living room was spacious and had generous seating and dining areas. The master bedroom was equally spacious and the bed was comfortable.
The peacock. Oh my God the peacock. Calling it’s mate all day, then in the small hours. Then the clock tower chiming. Not only on the hour, but ringing out the hour (12 chimes at midnight etc). The oven took an hour to heat up and the cleanliness of the kitchenware was poor.

The property is in the heart of the national trust land. Spring is a wonderful time to visit. All the bluebells out in the woods, plenty wild birds, local pheasants fighting, Mandarin ducks, local Peacocks, wild rabbits all on the door step. You can watch them out of the living room window.
Just throw the gate you are on Snake path, the start of one of many paths to Linder Scout. Lapwings, red grouse (plus little one). Latern Pike pub is at the bottom of the road and the food is reasonably price and of good quality.
None.
If visiting remember is a convert stables
