Easy check in process in a quiet relaxing neighborhood. Just a short drive or walk to the best market around, Andy's Market for any necessary supplies or prepared food. My daughter loved the pizza. I'd love to come back for another visit, we loved it. Thanks for thinking of all the supplies we could have ever needed. Loved it!!

We stayed for a little over two weeks to accommodate two high school graduations. The property was wonderful, and a nice neighborhood. The owner was very accommodating and the unit has everything you need. Five stars for both the property and the owner.

Our stay was pleasure and great location to explore.

This was a very cute, little cozy spot close to a lot of ocean beaches and fun cities. We stayed thanksgiving weekend and had a pleasant stay. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. This is very much an apartment in the sense that your neighbors can be heard, if that’s something you’re concerned about. We were not and it was still very private, so this was a delightful experience. Thanks to the hosts for providing such an excellent home away from home.

We enjoyed our stay in the cozy apartment on the bay. the were no surprises, we got everything we were expecting, and the neighborhood is very beautiful. Definitely drive up the road to see some amazing views of the north bay.

This was a perfect place for the two of us. It is located in the lower level of the property owner's house. It is a nice, quiet place and very cozy. Communication with Elise was very easy and she was very friendly. She does have a young dog, but that was never an issue. We would stay there again if given the opportunity.

I booked in advance of our event. Within the allowed change window, I requested to shorten our stay by 1 day.
The request was processed; but after several days and seeing no refund, I looked further into the accounting. The Host had increased the price of the rental, so that no refund appeared to be due........?
I reached out to the Host- who said 'she would look into it.' Several days later, a refund was posted to my account. No explanation, no apology.
Our Remote check-in was okay and unremarkable. But, upon return from an evening walk, there was a 'Contract' in our welcome basket. Basically, the contract stated the renter was responsible for everything, and I was agreeing that all Host liability was to be waived........ ?
Instructions for this amateurish contact were : 'Sign, and provide a contact phone #.'
With hesitation, and despite my own judgement, I did. However, overnight, the Contract reappeared in the welcome basket- with instruction to sign 'on the line....'
I became more uncomfortable with this Host. I called VRBO for guidance.
I was any contracts were subject to VRBO approval and would be delivered from the VRBO website. This was not. 'Therefore, do not sign.'
In making contact with VRBO, I had been on the line for quite a while,so I requested an expedited appt to be within check out time and avoid a second night stay.......
A third issue then presented. VRBO stated the Host's posted checkout was 12 pm; but in the 'Contract'- check out time was moved up to 11am.......
Regarding the unit--
it was described as being 'on the first floor'.
But actually, the unit is in fact under their deck. There is no sound barrier. We heard every footstep above, every phone call, and non- stop barking from their yippy dog..
I requested to meet The Host in the driveway to discuss issues -- twice via texts, twice via voicemail. I heard the calls coming in upstairs. The Host did not pick up.
Ultimately, she did and we met me in the driveway.
I stated I would not sign the Contract. and was prepared to leave on that basis. She caved, saying: "Fine.... don't sign. You are welcome to stay........'
I countered that I did not feel welcome. The billing had been manipulated--i had to ask for a refund; Host had insisted on an unauthorized 'Contract;' and there was a
discrepancy about the published check out time.
I demanded an on the spot refund with a promise to depart
immediately. I do not recommend this listing.

Elise and Paul were wonderful hosts and the reviews are accurate. I had to come to San Rafael to attend a memorial and almost booked a hotel. So glad I chose to stay at their place. Far better than a hotel. Clean, comfortable and the garden is very special. I was able to take a break from it all and sit outside to reflect. Andy's Market is a short walk where I was able to get breakfast. Loved their place.

Comfortable lodging close to Marin outdoor adventures
Just like a home away from home with everything you would want to have to relax after a busy day out enjoying the many outdoor activities available in Marin. We enjoyed two great days of hiking at Mt Tamalpais. Andy's Market is nearby and has an exceptional deli where we picked up the best deli sandwiches to take on our hikes! The Kitchen Table restaurant in downtown San Rafael was also great!

Convenient charmer in San Rafael
This is a one bedroom downstairs unit very close to central San Rafael. The unit was spotless, with everything you would need for a nice stay. It is near shopping and walking trails. There is a nice garden and off street parking. Elise and Paul were very helpful. We would and will stay there again.

A great place for a getaway
We decided to go at the last minute. Owners Elise and Paul were able to accommodate us and communication was easy. The garden apartment was compact and clean and had everything we needed and more. We had the choice of three ways to make coffee - Drip, Mr Coffee or Keurig. There is no stove, but a microwave, toaster oven and hot plate were all that we needed.
Andy's Local Market was fun to visit and we got items for breakfast and snacks. We took an short drive to China Camp State Park, and enjoyed the museum with a knowledgeable volunteer docent, and the other buildings and displays. Of course we enjoyed the beach - which people swimming, stand up paddle-boarding, and children wading and building castles in the sand.
The place was small but comfortable. It looks out on the carport, but just beyond is the most lovely garden. We enjoyed the bottle of wine left with Birthday greetings, and our supper sitting in the garden under an arbor of wisteria on a nearly windless evening. The magic we were hoping for happened, and we came home after just 2 nights rested and ready to face the world refreshed and Much more relaxed. Thank you!

Elise and Paul were welcoming and accommodating hosts, and the space is uber comfortable. There are beautiful water view walks and also open space hiking on trails nearby. The location of this rental is away from the hubbub, yet just a short drive to Central San Rafael. Our only regret is that we didn't have time to spend in the lovely garden.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Elise and Paul’s comfortable, serene and convenient 1st floor unit from which we explored Marin county and San Francisco. Lovely to have within easy reach Muir Woods, Mt. Tamalpais, Sausalito, San Francisco, Tiburon, Sonoma and not much further, Stinson beach, Pt Reyes, Napa, and East Bay. I’m picky about a good supportive bed and this one fit the bill and with nice sheets as well. The little kitchenette with Andy’s local market nearby was great for simple but delicious DIY or take home meals and breakfasts looking at the Bay or in the beautiful little garden. Elise was a super host. The house also has a full water filtration system which made for great tasting water. The only points of note for some travelers is there are slightly different floor levels to the closet, bathroom, kitchenette; the parking space is small and requires backing down after a tight turn; you can hear upstairs activity through the ceiling. None of these bothered us at all. We look forward to an opportunity to stay at Bayside Acres again.

Bayside Acres is the perfect home base while visiting the bay area. The view of the bay from the living room and beautiful gardens are calming after a busy day exploring all that Marin has to offer.

Great location outside of San Francisco
Clean and cozy, great location outside of San Francisco. Great market and marine area within walking distance. Beautiful views there and great walking/ jogging path along the jetty. Perfect size space for a couple of people. Living room area is very small but worked fine for us. We were out and about most of our stay. Within 30-45 minutes of all places we wanted to visit: Muir Woods, Muir Beach, Stinson Beach, San Francisco (Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge area, Marine Park, Pier 39) Sausalito, Tiburon, Angel Island, etc. i highly recommend the guided bike tour across the Golden Gate Bridge with Blazing Saddles. Overall a great option for us.

Comfortable apartment at a private residence tucked away in a nice quiet neighborhood by the bay. Nicely furnished throughout, I appreciated the kitchenette where I was able to prepare some light meals instead of going out. The apartment is located in an area that was convenient to access the outdoor adventures that Marin has to offer. I liked that there is a neighborhood market within walking distance, as well as a waterfront trail by the marina that was perfect for evening strolls. This was my first experience with VRBO-type rentals, Elise and Paul were pleasant hosts and my stay at their place exceeded my expectations. I will definitely stay here again in the future!

Lovely gem
This place was perfect for my needs. There was an issue during my stay, however, Elise and Paul responded immediately and offered to right the situation. I so appreciate the great communication from Elise and Paul. I loved the thoughtfulness that they have put into their place. Great location, especially so close to Andy's Market. The bed was super comfy with nice linens. Thank you, Elise and Paul, for my stay in your lovely gem.
