About this house rental
Located in York Beach, this lovely house for R 16,130 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. I purchased my home in late 2017 and completed a full renovation in 2020 of the farmhouse situated directly on Long Beach Ave in York Beach, Maine. New heating system, complete new electrical system, all new paint and drywall, new front and rear decks, completely new kitchen appliances and cabinets and all new bathrooms with new tiles, toilets, and vanities, as well as impeccably re-finished original oak hardwood floors throughout the house. The house was built in 1917 and moved to it's current location in 1937. The house has amazing craftsman finishes, which I have preserved while updating to modern amenities. Linens, pillows, towels are provided The house is 3 stories. A finished walk-out lower level which has: a full bathroom and bedroom. A main floor with: 2 decks, a living room, dinning room, brand new kitchen and half bath. A second floor with 4 bedrooms and a full bathroom. The deck on the back of the house overlooks a massive grass yard with a small view of the ocean along Long Beach Ave and has amazing sunsets. The front farmer's porch is great for morning coffee or to relax in the evening. The fire-pit in the backyard is a perfect place to sit and relax after a day full of fun. The elevated back deck is wonderful for grilling using the brand new propane grill and enjoying a dinner under the stars. My home has air-conditioning to hide from the summer heat and a large country fan in the living room providing a great breeze. The HD TVs in the living room and finished lower level provide for a relaxing area to possibly split up the adults and children for a relaxing evening. Brand new clothes washer and dryer are provided. There is also an outdoor shower under the back deck to rinse off that troublesome beach sand. The walk to Long Sands Beach is 4 minutes, 0.2 miles. The walk to Short Sands Beach is 6 minutes, 0.4 miles. The furniture is brand new in 2019, but respects the historic nature of the house. The front porch has double rocking chairs great for relaxing and saying hello to passers-by. The back deck has a patio dining set with umbrella and additional wood rocking chairs. The kitchen table is 10 feet long accommodating up to 14 chairs. The living room has a modern sofa sectional with chaise lounge, a love-seat, and chair for seating up to 16 people. The lower floor has another love-seat and chest of drawers along with 3 twin beds and HD TV. Master Bedroom: 2 Queens Beds, Sleeps 4. Bedroom 2: Queen, Sleeps 2 Bedroom 3: Queen, Sleeps 2. Bedroom 4: Twin, Sleeps 1. Bedroom 5: 3 Twins, Sleeps 3. Living Room: Pull-Out Sofa-bed, Sleeps 2. I am an honest and up-front person and I hope for my guests to be the same. I have impeccably renovated this farmhouse situated on the beach with my own hands. I hope you will respect and enjoy this amazing historic home steps from Long Sands Beach and Shorts Sands Beach. We had a great visit (during a potential hurricane) with friends. Location is within walking distance of “downtown” and two beaches. House is clean and plenty big for a big group. It was a little lite on staples in house, but we could pick up at a local store. Communication was great even with owner deployed overseas.

We are a group of women (40+) who enjoy an annual weekend away together. This house has been our favorite to date. Some key things that made this a great house is 1. the location- only a few minutes walk to long sands, 2. Ample parking -we fit 5 cars effortlessly 3. Plenty of beds! 9 of us slept in beds, so blow up mattresses needed! 4. Good size dining room/living room for hanging out!

The house was perfect for a family reunion. The parking out back means no need to fight over spaces, even though we came from all over the east coast.

Had a great time! The house is great, right between both beaches/downtown. Short walk to both and sidewalks both ways to get there. Put the kiddos in the wagon and walked down. No packing the car or having to find parking! All the rooms are nice and spacious, great deck with tables to eat outside. Nice backyard away from the main road for yard games and fire pit. Plenty of parking for all our cars. The house was spotless when we arrived. Owner was very responsive when I couldn’t find the email with code to get in. We had a great time, very appreciative, thanks again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. The location is perfect and we could easily go to either long sands or short sands. Our kids loved the fire pit for s'mores after a day at the beach. Communication with the owner the best as he responded quickly to any questions. We look forward to booking again!

We rented this house to celebrate with our family our forty years of marriage (2 years late due to Covid). This house fit our needs perfectly. Beautifully renovated, it is the perfect level of comfort and convenience. The location is great, with nearly everything we needed within walking distance. The kitchen is well equipped, and layout of the house provided ample space for all thirteen of us. The front porch is great for people watching, and the back deck was perfect for our gathering at dinnertime. I would highly recommend this home for a family vacation. My family and I spent a week in this home up at York Beach. We had a great time! Location is perfect, quick walk to Long Sands, Short Sands and the shops. The front porch is great for people watching, and the back deck is great for hanging out and grilling with the entire family..

I really wanted this to be a great place to stay but it just was OK. For the cost, I would have expected more. There were quite a few issues with the home that reflects the fact that the owner never lives there, here are just a few:
- The light blocking curtains don't fully cover the windows and they block the air conditioning units. Some curtains are obviously cut in half and only frame the windows so if you're looking to keep the house cool during the day you'll have to run the AC all day.
- The walk-in basement/bedroom has a door leading to the outside - no curtains on that. The window along the back wall in that room does not have curtains that actually provide full privacy because they only frame the window and do not cover the entire window.
- Upon check in, the house reeked of fish. Took a good day for the smell to go away.
- The oven and stove were filthy. When I contacted Joseph he immediately apologized and set up a time to come over to clean it up. He did a great job, but for the $ this home costs, this should not have happened. This not only was disgusting, but it is a health issue in this day and age.
- There were birds nesting in an area where the roof and soffit had separated and deposited a good amount of poop on the deck. Joseph offered to remediate this but we didn't want to traumatize our young kids and opted to have him wait until we left to address this issue.
- There was either a nest of bats or birds in the chimney and they made a racket. I informed Joseph as soon as I realized this issue, so he can address it.
- The outdoor shower was not enclosed and the floor was a broken concrete slab on an uneven surface. While is did the trick of washing off the sand, it wasn't the experience I would have liked to see.
- The rockers on the front porch are dangerous. They tip backwards at an unbelievably unsafe angle so that you cannot even put your feet on the floor. The double rockers were safe and could be used without issue.
- The outdoor grill grease trap was not cleaned and hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. It leaked all over the deck and even to the chairs below. I cleaned off the deck and chairs but my husband had to address the trap so we could cook on the grill. This is a fire hazard.
While I really wanted to like this place, I just didn't feel comfortable here with these issues. That said, Joseph was pleasant and accommodating. I'm sure he'll address these issues and get this place in great shape for renters

The location was perfect! An easy walk to either Short Sands or Long Sands beaches. The front porch and back deck were great for morning coffee or evening relaxing. Plenty of room in the house and plenty of parking space for our adult family. Joe, the owner, was very responsive and the week at the house was wonderful!

This cute home sits in the perfect location. Short walk to long sands Beach, and short sands Beach was a quick drive away. Plenty of space for our large group with many beds, bathrooms, and table seating. Many shops, restaurants, and bars that were close by as well. Check in & out was a breeze and Joseph was quick to respond to any questions. Would definitely stay here again!

Joseph was a great host. He was attentive to us during our check in process as his original email to me with the access code went to my spam. He also came by and provided us with more towels since there were not enough when we first got there as soon as we notified him. The only thing I would adjust is possibly adding a full-length mirror either in every bedroom on the back of the door or somewhere as well as a full length mirror. It was hard for 12 to get ready with only two mirrors located in both bathrooms. We also could have used more than one roll of paper towels for the weekend due to the size of our party. Other than that, the location and house was perfectly accommodated us and it was easy to walk to the nubble and nearby beaches. The deck was so much fun to hang out on and watch the sunset too. Would definitely recommend!

Have walked by this house many times over the years. It was a run down home in need of some love. Joseph (the owner) was just what the old place was begging for.
The entire home was updated and very welcoming. Brand new Kitchen was the cat's meow. My wife and I shared the 1st floor by ourselves. It was like a separate apartment with a wonderful new bathroom and amazing shower. The dining room had a very large table which was a focal point for a lovely gathering. We had the same group at the fire pit for some evening cocktails and tunes. Centrally located between York's 2 beaches and walking distance to everything. You just couldn't ask for more. A very smart house with loads of room for family and friends. We've visited York 50 times easy over the last 20 years as we have family in town. We will certainly consider renting again. My friends and I enjoyed a girls weekend up in York and absolutely loved our stay here! The property was clean, there was plenty of space, a great yard to spend time in and it was located so close to the beach! Both beaches (short sands and long sands) were a short walk away - and there were so many restaurants and activities so close. We would absolutely go back!

If you love all that Long Sands beach has to offer during the day and what Short Sands offers at night then this is the house and location for you! A short walk to Long Sands makes the morning trek easy for the beach loving people in your group and at night, Short Sands has everything that anyone in your group would want (food, fun, shopping)! The front porch is a perfect gathering spot at night when you want to chillax with a favorite beverage and catch up with the family or enjoy the tranquility of a fire pit in the backyard. The house is set up perfect for kids and adults, we had the teenage boys in the basement location where they had there "own" space with the rest of the adults taking up the bedrooms on the second floor. Only wish we had more vacation time to spend more time here.

The location was amazing. The house and yard were great, unfortunately there was some spraying being done on the lawn we were not made aware of the day before our last day. We were unable to have our kids plays out there as they had been all week and we were unable to have a campfire we planned on having our last night in the house. We also had to clean all of the air conditioner filters ourselves. Other than those things, the location was amazing!

This home was all it advertised. It was spacious and well kept. The house is very close to Long Sands beach and our group enjoyed the few occasions we were able to enjoy it.
