Everyman's House in Westnedge Hill
About this house rental
Nestled in Kalamazoo, this attractive house for R 2,606 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Located in Westnedge Hill right on the edge of downtown. Just 1.5 miles to the heart of downtown Kalamazoo. It's a 1926 Colonial with a rich history. Well taken care of and very loved. 2 bedrooms up stairs and a 3rd on the main floor. 1.5 baths. Wood floors throughout. Has a semi private deck off the back for relaxing with a small fenced in back yard under a canopy of trees. Everyman's house has been declared a Historic Home in Kalamazoo. The words "Everyman's House Kalamazoo MI" can be searched for more information on the history of my wonderful house. Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Public Library have websites dedicated to Everyman's House. 1,100 sq. ft. We do allow pets with a $50 per pet fee which must be collected separately after you make your reservation. Please include the breed and size of your pet when making your reservation. You will also be required to agree to our pet policy. Full access, the entire place is yours! Smart tv with Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ subscriptions provided. Location: Located about 2 miles from Western Michigan University, Waldo Stadium and Kalamazoo College in the Westnedge Hill neighborhood and across from Crane Park. Crane Park has tennis courts, badminton court and a beautiful flower garden in the summer. Very nice for relaxing or letting your dog run around. Also a good spot for sunsets as you can see over the northwest side of Kalamazoo. The neighborhood to the south (up the hill) and behind are both very nice with some very nice homes located behind me on Glenwood Dr. and around the park. There is a nice apartment community located next to the house on the north side called Westnedge Hill Apartments. Milham Park Golf Club and Gull Meadow Farms are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit Kalamazoo Nature Center, The AirZoo or Airway Lanes for go karts and bowling. Binder Park zoo is just about a 30 minute drive also. Looking to enjoy an event or a game while in town? See what's happening at Waldo Stadium or Wings Event Center. It is located on the city's bus line with stops just up and down the street. Uber and Lyft are great options for getting around with only around a $6 fare to downtown. It is a 11 minute drive to Kalamazoo Municipal Airport and 50 minutes south of Grand Rapids' Airport. Other things to note: ***Located on a busy street*** Location: Everyman's House is located on a hill on a one-way main road (Westnedge Ave.). It was built back when Westnedge was not as busy. Please be aware that traffic noise can be heard inside of house. Also it can be busy depending on the time of day and some people find it difficult to back out of the drive way. However, because of the traffic light located down the road there is always a break in the traffic to back out. Please be aware of this LOCATION issue before booking! There are four total parking spaces with two being inside of the garage and two spaces in the driveway. Do not block driveway. The stairs are steep and may be difficult for elderly guests but there is a bedroom located on the main floor. Please be aware that although pets do not live on the premises I do allow them so it is a possibility that some hair/dander be found which I understand can be an issue for some guests with a severe animal allergy. We do allow pets with a $50 per pet fee. You will also be required to agree to our pet policy. Please be sure to include that you will be bringing pets before you arrive. If you would like early check in or late check out I will do my best to accommodate. There is a fee of $20 per hour. Please be aware that it takes up to 3 hours to clean and do laundry in between guests so availability is subject to prior/future guests requests. I would love to give you a tour of the home and provide more info about the history of the house and information about Kalamazoo if desired but you are also welcome to just use self check-in. I am usually available but if I happen to be out of town I will have a co-host to help with any issues with the home.

Had problems with second payment going through. Tried to contact owner and was giving a payment source that doesn’t exist. Contacted VRBO and they couldn’t help because the owner uses their own charging system which I was not comfortable with. I ended up paying it anyhow. I had to bequest check in instructions as they were not sent. I paid for early check in and was not refunded even though we did not arrive early. The home is located on a very busy street but that was explained. The home is drafty and the road noise is loud but I was prepared for that from reading previous reviews. We could not locate the thermostat so we bundled up. We received the pet document that states pets are not allowed in furniture, beds etc and that you must bring your own blanket for them. We did so as well as brought the dog bed. Although the property states pet friendly, they most definitely are not nor is the stairs and flooring conducive for pets. There were no check out instructions provided. Despite this, we left the home in immaculate condition as we travel frequently and applied instructions from other homes here. Today I received a $350 attempt on my card and a $95 attempt from “Sand Lake Cottages” I did not identify this and thankfully I have good protection on my credit card, otherwise these would have gone through. I googled the company and turns out it was this property trying to charge me with claims that the home was left in one of the worst conditions?! Beyond untrue! Beware!

Cozy place that worked out great for our early family Christmas. Traffic was noisy so bring ear plugs and you'll have no issues. Host was great, easy check in and out and close to lots of shops/restaurants in Kzoo. Nice fenced in yard for our dog to run around too.

We were there for a wedding. This was a perfect place to stay. Very welcoming and clean. The fenced in yard was perfect for our fur baby.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Everyman's House. This was one of the best stocked rentals that we've ever seen. Everything that you could possibly require for day-to-day living is there. The home is centrally located, and Jenny was quick to respond and very accommodating. There is some traffic noise, but it was not too bad, and we had no trouble getting out of the driveway. The park across the street is awesome and has tennis and pickleball courts (We were thrilled to find a pickleball set in the coat closet)! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This house was exactly as described. It was well supplied with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The porch and yard make it very comfortable for children and dogs. There is a great little book store within walking distance. And plenty of restaurants close by. We didn’t have time to enjoy the tennis courts but the flowers in the park made for a beautiful walk.

Perfect location and size for 4 adult women in town for a conference. We grilled out on the deck and enjoyed the evening. Would definitely return if in town again.

The house was well appointed, quaint, clean with good linens, well maintained. The back yard was fenced, although the gate on one side leading to the front required tieing with rope because the latch didn't close it securely and we had a dog. The street was extremely busy, and the location required that we back out onto the street in order to leave the property. I believe that the price of the rental reflected that one problem, so our experience, overall, was good. I would rent that property again.

Clean and cozy this house takes you back to simpler times and craftsman design. Because of a mistake I made in booking dates, we only had one night here, which was a shame because we really enjoyed the atmosphere and comfortable feel here. Our host Jenny, was very gracious when we discovered my error in booking and we will book here again when visiting family in Kalamazoo!

Loved manager Jenny she is the best. They thought of it all. We aren't used to city living. That's why location took a hit. Will definitely look for Jenny when looking at other places to visit

We were in town for a wedding and needed a place to stay for a couple nights with our family and our 2 dogs. The house was the perfect size for the 6 of us. It was beautiful and clean and had everything we needed for the duration of the stay. The host was very helpful and quick to respond. The backyard was perfect for the dogs too! We really enjoyed our stay to say the least.

This was a great "older" home with historical significance. The place was very clean and had available anything one would need to be comfortable. We had our fur babies with us and really appreciated the fenced in back yard. The location was near many places to eat and convenient to Galesburg and Battle Creek where some of our family members live. The host was very friendly and responsive. We would absolutely stay in this home again.

This property was pretty basic but it worked out well for myself and 2 others. We were attending a convention just a couple of miles away so we spent very little time at the house. Although the property is on a busy street there were fans in each bedroom providing white noise which drowned out the traffic noise. Kitchen had everything one needed and it was nice having the use of garage. Beds were comfy.

We loved being across the street from Crane Park. We enjoyed a game of Pickleball there one morning. We also enjoyed walks in Westnedge Hill and Bronson Neighborhoods. The house was comfy and well-appointed. It had everything we needed for our stay.

We have family in Kalamazoo and this property is so close to everything! Cozy historic charm, if you love historic buildings and antiques you’ll love this stay.
The Main Street can get a little loud but the host is Wonderful as has thought of everything including ear plugs should you need them.
The perfect big tiny house! A fully equipped kitchen and a grocery nearby. But get Korean BBQ from down the street if you don’t feel like cooking!

Awesome little piece of history nestled in a great location. Hidden gem with an “at home” feeling and a spectacular host. There was not one thing we needed that we could not find! Cute backyard that would be a great time in the warmer months, very clean and we loved the antique stove!
