Wonderful stay, nice house with lots of room.
We are a cigar smoking family and would like to have been able to smoke on the porch where the beautiful chairs and setup was but understand !!

Enjoyed our stay, the house was absolutely beautiful. The beach was a little far but still walkable and location between St. Joseph and South Haven was ideal. Bring your own towels but other than that, everything you need is provided.

Everything was absolutely terrific. Very spacious, wonderful backyard. House was extremely roomy and well laid out. Would recommend 100%.

The owners are welcoming and the home is beautiful. Everything in the home is comfortable, clean, and well kept. The outside is gorgeous! The grass is so soft! We would love to stay here again!

This properly was everything it said it was. The outside is beautiful. We had plenty of room for everyone. The location was great just a short distance to downtown St. Joe.

The property was incredible! My friends enjoyed taking their walks on the beach every morning. It was nice to have a beach so close.

We spent three nights at the house. Check in was easy and the house was very clean. We had eight people, two were older teens and the rest of our group were adults. We were visiting family in the area and only used the house to sleep and shower. We never fixed or ate a meal at the house.
Overall our stay was great. The only negative is this house does not provide bath towels. It documents that clearly but I must of glazed over it. However our group was large and it was super inconvenient to have to go buy bath towels. Once again it was documented that they did not provide bath towels, it was my mistake and for that reason am still giving five stars. However, I would have probably picked a different house if I had realized there would be no bath towels. We all travel across the country and had limited space.
Based on the other reviews I have read, I expect the owner to chime in that the clearly state towels are not included. I have stayed at over 20 rentals of this type and never had one that did not include towels. Most people's brains are going to just gloss that over it is so extraordinary.
But, great home, bring towels.

This is a nice house with a yard , too nice. Maybe too nice to rent. A house with to many rules. Chairs labeled don’t sit in. Don’t put blanket in yard, don’t let kids play in yard , don’t empty ice in yard, which l am totally confused this is Michigan where it snows 50 inches per year. A 5 bedroom house with parking for one car. If you have two cars host wants you to park in the one lane road?? No smoking on the property inside or out. A 40 gallon water heater that doesn’t accommodate 2 back to back showers. Water has a bad Odor. We called host ,to ask where we were supposed to park, with no answer or return call. Don’t park or block the neighbors because l was informed they would call the law.. Only one TV in the entire house with a note to not change off Sling channel.

The check in process was easy. The house had a spacious family room which allowed for the seven of us plus our grandson to spread out and play cards and watch TV. There are 5 nice size bedrooms and two nice size bathrooms. There is a large deck with a grill and a large table. There are 2 coffee makers which for a large family is nice. There is plenty of dishes and glasses. We didn’t cook. There was kitchen towels and bath hand soap provided. There was no dish soap or dish clothes. We went to Jean Kloc beach which is very close. Hager beach is very close. Close to St. Joseph and South Haven. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable!

The location was perfect; peaceful, quiet and secluded. Check- in was seamless. The inside of the home was immaculate. This is a perfect location (near beaches and shopping) for responsible adults not children. The landscape and yard are beautiful and the owner request renters respect this. All outdoor activities are not to be conducted on the grass. Clear 'Renter Rules' are on the kitchen table upon arrival. The owners were hands off and left us undisturbed during our stay. All communication was done via Vrbo. We would definitely rent again.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and comfortable. The sitting room located upstairs was lovely. The best part of the home was the spacious living room: two leather sofas with reclining seats (just heavenly); large coffee table with surrounding stools for eating and games.
The grill area has two refrigerators which was very handy. Firepit area was lovely with plenty of seating. There is also an outdoor area where you can hose down after a romp on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan.
For future renters:
1. The ‘Renter Rules’ indicates the state of MI doesn’t allow outdoor fires past 10:00 PM however the neighbors behind and across from us had fires going past midnight. Both groups were very quiet.
2. The rental doesn’t include following amenities:
a. Shampoo, Conditioner, Bath Soap
b. Aluminum foil, plastic wrap
c. Laundry soap, fabric softener
d. There was one broom outside the front door which was used to sweep both indoor and outdoors.
e. No salt, pepper, oil, etc
3. Neither the shower or tub have:
a. grab bars so be careful
b. Handheld or dual shower heads which considering you’ll be coated in sand would have been helpful

The house was very clean and spacious, the living area was perfect for relaxing with a large group and game nights. The porch and deck was also very nice. We loved Hagar Beach across the street, but did choose to drive with all our beach stuff.
We were SO grateful for the houses generator the first night- power was out in the area due to a fallen tree branch, but not at our house! It would’ve made the beginning of our vacation stressful otherwise, but we were able to enjoy ourselves instead.
We had no issues with amenities, and were aware of the house rules regarding the lawn beforehand and were able to comply, although it was more difficult at times with a preschooler not being able to go in the yard. Overall, a great stay!

This house was very a very comfortable place to stay while we vacationed with our family. The porch and deck were a great place to relax after a long day at the beach.

Property was as advertised. Beautiful.
My only negative is as a person that also like things just so, I believe the rules made me feel less relaxed. People typically book homes that sleep this many people to have a good time and will have kids that want to be outside. Firepit out at 10 when it gets dark at 945 is a kill joy.
Again, this is a beautiful place and we did have a great time I just think the rules could be relaxed a bit.

I rented this house with a group of friends last year and it was a great experience. This yr, not so much... We pd to stay from 6/12 4pm - 6/16 11am. Our family arrived @ 3:54pm 6/12 and an SUV was parked in the main spot, a man was mowing, and a woman was relaxing on the porch. We'd already received the code to enter the home, so we began to walk toward the door as the couple approached and we exchanged a few confused "what's ups?" . I finally told them I rented the house. They said that I rented from 6/16 to 6/19. I showed them my payment & rental confirmation. They said I wasn't in their book but the man went inside to check his computer. He came out, said I was correct & they asked for 2 hours to prepare the home, finish mowing the lawn & to change the bed linens. I explained we'd just drove 5 hours to get there & we were tired. She then said 1 hour. We reluctantly agreed and then we still returned 2 hours later to ensure they would be gone... but they weren't. I asked how much longer they'd be there & in broken English, with a strong Russian accent, she just kept saying "house is ready for you". I asked how much longer they'd be there, she apologized & just kept saying no. Obviously she was unable to effectively communicate, so we left and returned another 30 minutes later... They were STILL there!!! We pulled up & started to unload & by the time we were unloaded, they were gone.
This is a nice home & I'd really thought I'd found a place for our family to stay at each year but the house was not ready for us this year & there simply weren't enough of the essentials (i.e. paper towels, dishwasher tabs, trash bags, toilet paper, the bare essentials, etc). Not to sound petty but for the price we paid, those bare essentials should have been there. We should not have had to buy them for our stay. And I truly feel they should have offered to reimburse us for the lost hours of rental and the gas it took to drive around for an additional 2.5 hours to give them time to prepare for us and we should have also been compensated for our time. But nothing, not a word from the owners after they left at 630pm.
Fast forward to check out day.... we were supposed to be out at 11am. At 940am, we were loading up the cars and warming the oven to make cinnamon rolls & scrambled eggs when the male owner began to continuously drive around the house! Very creepy so we left w/o breakfast... Not cool at all! The owners ruined the start & end of our family vacation!!

We had staff in town to work a golf tournament and the home was very nice and comfortable. Owner takes great pride in the home and it is maintained very well. I would definitely recommend this home to others visiting the area.

While not technically on the water, this rental is about 3min from a public beach/park. Coloma is about half way between St. Joseph and South Haven. The home is very nice and clearly well cared for and will fit a large group of people. While the house is large the driveway isn’t. Prepare to park on the street.
There was a slight issue with the sulfur smell from the well water. Likely from bacteria reacting to the magnesium rod in the water heater. The owner uses plug-in deodorizers to mask the smell but the plug-ins are probably worse for you than the sulfur. None of us have a particularly strong sensitivity to smells, so it wasn’t a big deal.
The yard is well manicured. I too have a green thumb, so I can relate to the effort it takes to keep up a yard and garden. The house rules are very clear, stay off the lawn, which we did. If you’re looking to give your kids free reign to wrestle, play soccer or picnic in the yard then this is not the rental for you. We were happy to oblige.
Note that the rental does not include towels or basic salt, pepper, oil, etc. The owner was clear about the towels, and we ended up going to the store for oil, salt and pepper. It certainly wasn’t a deal breaker but would have been nice to have a few basic items. We’ve rented other homes at a lower price point that had these items including sponges, towels, etc. I’m not mad at it but thought there could have been a little more attention to making renters feel more welcome.
Overall, it’s a beautiful home and a stone’s throw from a gorgeous beach.

The pics on Vrbo did NOT do this property justice! The outside grounds were immaculately designed and well-maintained! The deck is wonderful, has a gas grill, and two (2!) "dorm size" fridges next to it! The owner was responsive throughout the booking and check in process. This was only the second Vrbo property that we have used. Please know that NO bath towels are provided. Our only other Vrbo rental did provide bath towels so we don't know what is "normal" for Vrbo properties.
We highly recommend that you consider this property!

Our group (three couples) was looking for a nice quiet place which was big enough for all of us and close enough to the lake. This property was all we hoped it would be!!
After reading all the reviews, we were a little apprehensive about staying, with several of the reviews mentioning the strict rules & an unreasonable owner, but once we arrived we could quickly see why the owner would like to keep the place nice (which is totally reasonable). The lawn was immaculate & the home was flawless!! The negative reviews immediately seemed unjust & unfair. Although they were accurate about no towels, so come prepared with your own towels . If you forget something, there is a Dollar General within a 3 minute drive. Use common sense & respect this beautiful property and you will be fine.
We did not have any issues with the owner!!! He texted to welcome us when we arrived, but we did not hear from him the remainder of our stay. There was a decently long list of rules, but they are common sense the moment you see the place. This is a lovely home, inside and out. It was super spacious with high end finishes & tastefully decorated. We were all very impressed & we look forward to renting this home again.
We'd say it was a 10 out of 10 & we'd do it again 😉

We used this home for a vacation with our extended family. The home worked out well for our needs as we had 4 couples, 3 infants, a toddler, and our grandmother during the stay. The home itself was beautiful, and it was a convenient 3 min drive to a beautiful beach. The outdoor space was beautiful, had a great deck and the fire pit. Like other reviews note, there is very strict rules about being on the grass which made it a little difficult because my young nephew of course wanted to play on the lawn, but we knew this going into the stay, and kept him off the lawn. The owner was a little difficult to communicate with at times. At times his communication came across as rude, but I think this was only because a lot seemed to be lost in translation. But overall good stay for what we needed

Well built 5 bedroom residence, very clean, walking distance to beach. Eccentric neighbors didn’t want car parked near their property, partial power loss last night of stay. Hardwood floors or tile throughout. Granite countertops, well equipped kitchen. Only hand towels available for drying (so bring your own). Attractive gardens, large deck with lots of outside seating arrangements, fire pit with neat but delicate lawn. Limited Sling TV options for video entertainment. Very quiet near forest like setting. Owner readily available by phone. Water with mild sulfur smell and taste

Summary: owner tries to scam you out of your deposit. At this price point you can find a nicer house in a nicer area.
The details:
The good: the house is decent. It was clean upon entry. A good size house for a large family getaway. Nice deck and nice firepit.
The bad:
1. As stated by another reviewer, the owner tries to “shake down” the renters and fabricates damages in order to withhold the deposit. We stayed for 3 nights and were notified by the owner that he was withholding our $500 deposit. Not only did the largest of the damages not occur during our stay, the other two minor “damages” he claimed absurd valuations on.
2. Additionally as others mentioned, the rules are unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a rental. “Don’t play on the grass” and “don’t dump ice on the grass” and “fire pit out by 10pm, by Michigan law” just to name a few.
3. Communication is with the owner is poor.
4. Value - for the per night rate on this home you can be right on Lake Michigan in equally as nice of a home, with a walk down the hill to an exclusive beach. Hagar park is nice but it’s busy.

Overall the property was fine; it's close to Hager beach. There are a lot of house rules, and many that relate to the grass. What really needs to be on the house rules is this: stay off the grass completely. Which is completely fine, but saying 'do not do anything to destroy the grass' means different things to different people.
Shortly after our arrival the owner came by and immediately began threatening to keep our deposit. My son's bike was on the grass and we had some firewood on the grass. Neither of which we planned on keeping on the grass long. Once I understood the owner did not want anything on the grass at all, I apologized and promised to remove everything. Then he began questioning how many people were staying here. I had 6 on the reservation because our 7th was under 2 and didn't need a bed. The owner immediately jumped to accusing me of lying instead of letting me explain. I don't mind that the owner was asking about these things, but he was so rude about it that it really started our trip off badly. My 5 year old who was listening to the exchange was in tears because he thought we were getting thrown out.
The owner came by 30 minutes later and gave the same spiel to my husband. My husband's take was that he was just shaking us down for the deposit. Which I suppose is possible, and maybe that's why the rules are vague.
Other than that, the house was fine. The deck was lovely. The only other issues we had:
- Beds were pretty rock hard. This was not an issue for everyone but I had trouble sleeping.
- Appliances could use some TLC - the ice/water dispenser on the fridge was broken. There's visible mold growing in the washing machine.
- The firepit is nice but there's a t-pipe sticking out of the tiles right next to the pit, which is a pretty big safety hazard.
If you decide to rent this house, just be aware of the above. Personally I think if you're looking in this price range, there are nicer houses to rent in the area without dealing with a rude owner.

We needed a quiet area to get away with our adult children and their children. Excellent location to Hagar Beach, small beach with ability to practice social distancing. House was very well kept. Lots of rules but nothing that couldn’t be followed.

My husband and I took our two adult children for a long weekend. The home was perfect for us. It was clean, spacious and supplied all that was needed to enjoy our stay. The deck and surrounding landscape made a wonderful spot to relax. The location was close to all that we activities we wanted! We would love to return again next year!

We had a great time at your property! Very clean, great indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of space, good location and quiet neighborhood! It was a wonderful place for a long week-end trip with girls visiting wineries, beaches and restaurants. Not much close by but driving to St. Joseph, downtown Coloma and Saugatuk! We will definitely be back!
