Why Kiawah: The Summer 2012 issue of Coastal Living ranked Kiawah Island #1 as the “most blissful place to live along the coasts of the United States”. Writer Tracey Martin says, “If heaven had a zip code, it would have to be 29455. This exquisite barrier island is home to 10 miles of unspoiled fine-sand beach; wild-growing palmetto oak, and magnoalia trees; a veritable Noah’s ark’s worth of mammals and rare birds; and 1.626 lucky residents. With small-town charms and proximity to the gracious urbanity of Charleston, Kiawah makes the ideal possible: a vacation-like lifestyle with easy access to commerce and culture. Home to five award-winning golf courses, the island will play host to the PGA Championship in August. Frankly, life here is one sweet day of play after another- biking on the 30-plus miles of paved paths, or shopping at local hub Freshfields Village (at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns islands). Residents often kayak down the tree-shaded Kiawah River to watch egrets, herons, and bald eagles enjoying their sanctuary. And when the sun goes down on this paradise, you’ll be amazed at the sea of stars above.” Raves about Kiawah Resort: Home of the Ocean Course: Host of the 2007 Senior PGA and 2012 PGA Championships #1 Ranked Happiest Seaside Towns- Coastal Living #1 Ranked International Golf Resort- Apple Vacations #1 Ranked U.S. Golf Resort- Travel + Leisure Golf #1 Ranked Tennis Resort in the World- Tennis Resorts Online #1 Ranked Family Resort in the East and Southeast- Travel + Leisure Family #2 Island to Visit in the U.S.- Conde Nast Traveler AAA Five Diamond Award Winner- The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Wonderful home, very clean and spacious! We have stayed here several times, many updates this year! Owner is quick to respond and easy to work with! Great location, short bike ride to beach and pool access! (Just wish town of kiawah would put cross walk to make getting to bike path easier) Overall we love this home and plan to stay again!

There was a leak behind fireplace when rained. Kitchen utensils need inventory as there are a lot of doubles and some things unavailable

Our first time on Kiawah. House was as described. Enjoyed the view of the golf course.
The island is beautiful. We will be back.

Ivan's place was perfect for my stay at Kiawah. The place was as advertised. Everything was very clean!
Thank you!

We appreciated having access this spacious home, with beautiful views of the golf course and having access to the beach which was less than a mile away.

The oven was not working. When Ivan found out the oven would not be fixed in time. He brought 2 air-fryers for us to use. He went the extra step to make sure we have everything we needed. We enjoy the house and area so much. Lots of room and peace and quite. Our grandkids love the beach and riding their bikes. We had a great trip. Looking forward to next year.

This was not a good experience. Similar to other renters, we encountered the place in disarray. Many upgrades are required. The smell was the worst part. Felt like we were all exposed to mold and mildew. The oven/stove didn’t work so was refunded 20%. Host gave option to cancel but by the time we found out, other accommodations all booked. I would seek accommodation elsewhere. I wish I had received a larger refund for this inconvenience.

The home is in a great location, the views of the fairways are excellent. It's a shame the current owner is not willing to pay professionals to update and maintain the property. The oven and garbage disposal did not work. the floors look like a teenager installed them. there is visible rot on the siding. the front stairs have been replaced, but the rise is too large to meet any building code. Overall we made the best of it. Will not be staying here again!

We love staying at this house. The location is great, even though it's across the parkway. The area is quite and sitting on the golf course gives such beautiful views. The screened porch is our favorite spot in the house, and when we want to go inside, the family room is cozy with extremely comfortable furniture. This is the best dog-friendly house we've stayed in.

On a good note, the location and views of this property were very good, the layout of the home was good...communications with the owner were prompt and it is clear they are trying to make improvements based on recent VRBO feedback. The front steps have been repaired and the AC worked great.
That said, this property is in need of a MAJOR renovation. Biggest are of concern was strong musty order throughout home. Visible evidence of mildew/dirt/mold? on all the air ducts. Carpet in bedrooms, dated, stained and in poor condition. The back deck furniture was rusty and in poor condition...deck had not been cleaned in a long time. Bathrooms (Jack and Jill and Master) very dated and in poor condition (including duct tape in tub). Inside of kitchen cabinets/drawers were dirty and felt unsanitary. Blinds in kitchen and some bedrooms were covered in dust.
Bottom line, the house has real potential...but really needs a significant overhaul/updating.

This home is in very poor condition. Front steps were rotten and my son-in-law stepped thru the third step. Contacted Kiawah resort and was told the owners didn't have maintenance contract. Inside the home, everything looked shabby. Appliances were old and oven did not work. Master bath tub had large crack which had been patched with duct tape. Called owners and was told they would contact property managers but couldn't guarantee when problems would be fixed. Called VRBO but they were no help. Spent many hours on phone searching for new place to stay. Owners did refund our money but it was a stressful 24 hours trying to find another place. Will never rent directly from homeowners or VRBO again.

This property needs some TLC and the communication between the local property manager and owner needs some refining. During our stay we encountered it all-dysfunctional air conditioning, broken oven (ie didn’t work), dirty linens, roaches, leaking ceilings, empty propane tanks etc. The house needs a complete reno, the stairs leading into the house are so badly weathered that someone will need a tetanus shot by summers end if they slip through. Local property management refused to help after countless attempts. When reached, the owners did a good job of rectifying though sadly this was after battling the local help for 4-5 days. Not what anyone wanted on their vacation.
The house is located in a great area close to the hotel and services.

Fantastic location, biked daily to the pools and beaches. Host is great and I highly recommend. We would stay here again.

The location is fabulous! The views of the golf are gorgeous. However, the place needs major repairs. The front steps are caving in and we felt like we would fall through, there were cob webs all over, cockroaches in the bathroom by the garage, the master bathtub has a huge crack that they covered with white duct tape, the flooring in the master bedroom was coming apart and splintered, the dishwasher isn’t secured so it fell opened onto my child, and the twin beds in the back bedroom need to be replaced. The whole house needs a fresh coat of paint and some of the bathrooms need a redo. We had two bags of the last persons used linen and a trash bag sit on our front porch the entire stay even though we called housekeeping and told them.

Great family vacation
We had a wonderful time. The house was well equipped, and the golf course views were beautiful. It was a short walk to the resort pools. The kids loved the slides and swimming. We went on several walks and runs during our stay on the scenic trails. We drove to the beach, because it was easier for us with all our stuff. The beds and furniture were very comfortable. As others said, the house could use some repairs, but it did not negatively impact our visit. We would definitely stay here again!

Great view… and owner answered promptly to any questions we had. Enjoyed our stay except for a few things.
Check in was ok, confusing and people acted like we should know what to do.
House needs updating bad. Too many things to list!
Door to screen porch does not lock.
Stick to sliding glass door was finally found our last day in the bathroom by the kitchen. ( not sure why someone would put it there?)
We went to go out and when we came back master bedroom door was open. We made sure to shut all doors before we left. Not sure if someone came in or not? Weird…
We called the resort and they had someone come fix the master bedroom door. They also had someone call me about the door being open when we came home. We did not have any other problems after that.

Loved It!
The best qualities of this home are in the A+ category. Unless you can score a home overlooking the Ocean Course with the Atlantic Ocean in the background, this is about best golf course view you will find! Location is wonderful - in very quiet cul-de-sac where, other than the mail carrier, only one family drives by. Plenty of seating on the back deck, the screened in porch, dining area and den. Bedrooms and beds, especially the master, are great. Some reviews have noted that a little TLC would help, and I won't argue. Overall, however, I loved this house.

Good value on Kiawah
We arrived on Super Bowl Sunday. Large tv in family room only worked intermittently. Had to resort to creative solution to watch game. Also found an empty beer can in the closet. Other than that, property is well located with lots of seating inside and out. Kitchen and bathrooms could be updated but they met the need. Perfect for golf weekend or great value for family time.

The property was very clean; plenty of standard supplies; kitchen well stocked; lots of dresser space and closet space; very comfortable master bed. Great location in a pretty neighborhood that was very walkable. It is about 3/4 of a mile to walk to the beach on a paved path that is accessed across the main road. It was nice to relax on the screened in porch and watch the golfers. I would stay here again. Thank you!

The location was perfect, and the house was nice. The 3rd bathroom is in an odd location, and it had a crawly visitor when the light was turned on.

The lot, location, Island are spectacular. Lovely view overlooking the 10th tee and fairway of Cougar golf course. The home is tired - floors, furniture, and kitchen are worn and in need of updating.

We went for family wedding in the area...7 of us from Mt Pleasant, SC. The house was perfect and very spacious. Large living room, kitchen and master bedroom. Screened end porch and large deck overlooking 7th and 8th holes of Cougar Point Golf Course...beautiful view. Only somewhat negative comment is that two other bedrooms shared a bath, but that was a third bathroom with shower off the kitchen. Location is relatively close to main gate which is good if going off Kiawah. Check-in was pleasant and efficient. Pictures of property were accurate and owner was easy to communicate with. Home a little old, but very comfortable. I would rent again.
