This house was perfect. First of all, it was spotless. Everything was clean, and comfortable. The bedrooms were very nice, comfortable beds, cozy living room and nice kitchen. It felt like you were stepping back in time in this house in every way with the exception of modern convenience. the air conditioners kept the place cool, but they were silent. The bathroom was super clean and the shower was excellent. Over all a great house that is super cute and so great because it was built in 1739.
The location though may be the best part. It is one block from the House of the 7 Gables, which is amazing. We wnet for the tour and it was completely worth it. Our 10 year ols and 13 year old both agree that tour was possibly the best thing we did on our vacation, which also included visiting the beaches of Cape Cod, go carts, kayaking and a dozen other awesome things and the tour of a 17th century historical landmark house was at the top of their list. You have to take the tour to see why, it's very interesting. We think our tour guide Stephen really made it memorable. His story telling brought us right back to the year 1700. Salem is a beautiful city, with extremely interesting things to see and do and this house really sets the stage for the stay. I am trying to get my friends and family to go stay there.

Everything was supplied at the home, including laundry detergent, hair, dryer, iron, ironing, board, shower gel, and shampoo. The only thing you had to supply was the food you were going to eat. Although I brought cards to play in case it rained, there was a great supply of games on the property.

Such a cute little property close to everything Salem has to offer. We loved the architectural history of the house and how the owner has worked to preserve as much as possible. You can sort of imagine yourself in the era. Clean, cozy and comfortable! Kitchen well equipped for preparing meals.

The cottage was lovely and has so much character. Very clean and in a quiet area. Great outside relaxing area. Very convenient and in walking distance to everything. You can catch a ferry to Boston very inexpensive for the commuter run, and its only a 10 minute walk. The place is not super big, but perfect for four adults or small family, or even a girls weekend getaway. Definitely would stay there again and would recommend. Much to do in Salem and a very welcoming vibe from the residents. Great place/area over all. The owner was very receptive and a pleasure to communicate with. Thanks Dale for sharing your home. Awesome coffee around the corner. It was clean and comfortable. Loved the quiet spot to recharge with the hustle and bustle just up the street.

Relaxing quiet home
The house is very charming. We enjoyed sitting outside each night and relaxing with a cocktail. additional lighting would have been nice outside but did not stop us from having an amazing time!
The house is close to all the sights in town and if you’re looking for a fabulous dinner we recommend Turner’s.

It could not have gone better(except if it could have gone longer). The location is so good; the house is in excellent condition with every thing working as it should.and clean and neat to a “tee”. Furnishings were in good order and comfortable. I have owned and lived in an 18th century house and this one had about the right amount of quirkiness - modestly sloping floors, low ceilings to perfectly fit my 5’ 6” frame and a sturdy staircase appropriate for its age. In a word, it is charming. I would come back to this house in a minute. My wife and I are in our 70’s and loved it, our daughter is 28 and she loved it.

The property was very cute and the perfect size for our trip. The twin beds in the second bed were very uncomfortable and did not feel sturdy - very shaky. Would probably be fine for children but as an adult, it was not great.
When we arrived, we couldn’t get into the house as the key pad was dead. Reached out to property manager who advised to use the key in the lockbox for the side door, but the key was not in there. One of our guests had to climb down the bulkhead door and go through the basement to get into the home. No one came to the house that night, and the door was not repaired until about 12:30pm the next day. On the second day a fuse blew in the living room, again requiring a trip down into the basement to mess with the unlabeled fuse box.
While the property manager was very quick to respond to messages, it felt like we were left to our own devices to deal with issues.

What a perfect (albeit freezing) weekend!
We planned a 3 generation girls' trip to Salem in the middle of winter and boy was it cold. But the house was quaint and inviting.
The house is located around the block from the House of the Seven Gables and is close to the waterfront and main street. While it is located on a very narrow street, parking was not a problem as the property has its own spacious graveled side yard/parking-maybe the largest on the block.
Ceilings on the first floor are low and are in keeping with a house built before 1739. The kitchen had everything we needed for breakfasts in. We even ordered take out one night from the menus left in the house.
There is a loveseat and arm chairs to sit on in the living room and games to play. Cable t.v. is also available. We had no issues with wifi.
The floors are a little uneven and the stairs are narrow. Again to be expected in an almost 300 year old house. The second floor was cozy and clean. The duvets smelled freshly laundered. There were plenty of extra blankets etc. but these weren't needed as the rooms were warm and cozy.
There are 2 bathrooms- one on each floor. The first floor half bath also shares the laundry room. The second floor bathroom was great- four hot showers in succession and no problems whatsoever! Which actually surprised us. We were worried the last in would have a cold shower. This couldn't be further from the case.
We had a slight issue with the heating on the first floor the day we checked in, but the caretaker was extremely responsive and the issue was resolved promptly.
We really enjoyed our stay and would come again. Next time, we will book the trip when it doesn't feel like -12 degrees (that is what the weather report stated and it couldn't be more true!).
Thanks so much for a great stay! See you again soon!
