Loved our little cottage! It was so perfect in every way for the two of us. We sat in the gardens some of the time and up on the decks with awesome views most of the time. Driveway was an adventure every time!

This is the second time we’ve stayed here and it lived up to our expectations as a vacation retreat!

As advertised, nice house with everything we needed, including an ocean view, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful art work on the walls. Next to the Preserve, a gorgeous spot for walking and seeing wildflowers and the ocean. Would definitely recommend this property!

The Oceanview cottage is a comfortable home for 2 in a quiet neighborhood of Cambria.

This is such a unique property. The original use as an art studio is reflected in the light filled spaces, great ocean views, and unique architecture. We really loved the space, and hope to return sometime. It’s squeaky clean, the manager was very responsive. The area is quiet, away from the busy tourist area, but convenient to all the areas you might want to go to. We hope to return sometime and stay longer. Thanks to the owners for sharing this fun space.

Check in and out was so easy. Host provides great and detailed instructions. The property is very clean and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. There are beautiful views of the ocean from the bottom and top floor. Very enjoyable stay.

Hubby and I stayed here for five nights. Short drive to Cambria villages and walking distance to ocean paths. Nice and bright property with pretty garden and ocean views. Very clean with a comfortable bed, super-fast Wi-Fi, as well as cable TV (not just Nerflix and Roku). The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Note that the property is multi-level. The spiral staircase was quaint, but a bit awkward for getting up and down between the bedroom and main level. The weather was nice, so we often used the more practical outdoor stairs to get up and down. Driveway was a bit steep and narrow, but we made it work. Overall, a lovely spot and nice property, we were sorry to leave.

The cottage is super comfy, spacious for two and the light streaming in through the huge widows in the afternoon/early evening is magical. We loved our stay here -- best part is the 10 minute walk to Fiscalini and the bluffs. So much wildlife every day! We were sorry to leave.

We had such an amazing time at this place. We feel so blessed to have enjoyed the house, the views and all the hikes. We definitely came home recharged and would return in a hot minute!

Our second time staying in this one-bedroom hillside cottage was a wonderfully relaxing home base for many daily Cambria area outings. Everything was as advertised. The bedroom loft area provides expansive ocean views. The neighborhood teems with wildlife including numerous deer, rabbits, squirrels, and varieties of birds. We love the friendly interface of the quiet neighborhood with the surrounding nature preserves and beautiful natural environment. The property manager Deborah Berk is outstanding and responsive if ever needed. For the price, this cottage is a true gem!

A great launching pad for exploring Cambria and the region or retreat for watching the ocean and reading a book by the (gas) fire. The manager was great. The neighborhood is lovely. Access to trails is very convenient.

There was always complete comfort and relaxation. The house was wonderfully appointed and equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen, or anywhere, including power strips as needed. Best of all, a clear view of the coast.

We love this property but forgot there’s a narrow winding staircase to the bedroom. Plus no handicap bars in the bathroom. So as much as we love it, as we’re in our sixties, we won’t be back.

Wishing our 4 days had been a week! The home was perfect for two and we found it comfortable with everything we needed (even scotch tape). The furniture was great for relaxing and the bed was super comfortable! Views from both floors were beautiful. The upstairs deck was wonderful for afternoon sunshine and sunsets. We loved the location for walking and watching the waves. Thumbs up!!

This was a wonderful property! Clean, well-appointed with beautiful ocean views and a very comfortable bed in the loft upstairs with windows looking out towards the ocean view. A short drive to Cambria and right next to a nature preserve that provided a wonderful place for our morning walks. The circular staircase is very solid and has rails to hold on to as you climb to the loft. There was a lovely sitting area for our lunches and plenty of deck locations with seating. The gas fireplace provides heating and is on a thermostat, so we were very comfy for the few times it was needed. Will definitely return!!

We loved our stay at this gem of a spot on the California coast! The two levels of living space gave us opportunities to work separately while enjoying the ocean views. Wonderful quirks like the interior spiral staircase while outside access to both levels allowed for getting our luggage up. The multiple decks with seating areas on different levels were great as well. Nice walks to the waterfront paths as well as easy access to town and the Sea Lions beach made this an excellent place to visit for a relaxing week.

A relaxing and beautiful stay. Nothing left to be desired. Loved our time here.

A most charming home that not only has an ocean view but the occasional visit of friendly deer.
Quiet, peaceful, cozy, and most importantly safe. A few minutes walk from the beach and not far downtown Cambria, Hearst castle, or Morro Bay.
Plan your visit here!

My husband and I spent 5 relaxing and peaceful days reconnecting enjoying wonderful meals in town and at the cottage. If you want to sleep in bring a sleeping mask, for walks bring suntan lotion, hat and binoculars or camera. Stop in Morrow Bay to grocery store for good prices and olliberry jam. For tickets for The Pewter Plough theater just leave the cottage number. Great little plays there! My daughter and I are searching for money and time to escape the heat of the San Joaquin Valley. We already refer to this place as "the cottage" like it's. A our vacation home!

My husband, 4 month old baby and I spend 3 nights here. We really enjoyed our stay. I have to say, some of the features of this house weren't even shown in the pictures, but it was very nice! The entire house has HUGE windows, so it brightens up the place beautifully (shades for privacy don't worry!) The bed was very comfortable. I worried if I'd have to bring extra pillows or blankets in case there weren't enough, but they stock all different types of pillows, blankets, towels, wash cloths, soaps, etc. We slept like rocks each night..
The kitchen had everything possibly needed: pots, pans, cookie sheets, cups, plates, silverware, spatulas, cutting boards, and even some cooking oils and spices.
Almost all 4 days we saw deer-I saw the picture on this website, but I figured it was a once-in-a-while type of thing-but there were groups of 5 deer almost every day in the yard! One of the days we even saw a baby fawn resting out in the grass next too us.
From the upstairs balcony you are able to see and hear the waves crashing, and one of the days we heard seals barking out somewhere in the ocean.
The driveway is steep, but NOTHING to complain about. I expected it to be much worse, considering some of the earlier reviews on how steep it was, but it wasn't a bad driveway at all.
It's nice, also, that the neighbors all have nice houses as well, and keep their yards beautiful! We weren't bothered at all with neighbors, so it was a peaceful stay.
There were a couple downfalls to the house, though. I'd say the main thing that my husband and I didn't like was the outside balcony to the master bedroom. You can walk up to the house, and go up the stairs and look right into the bedroom. It was a little weird knowing that someone could just walk up to the windows and look in where you were sleeping. We assumed the balcony didn't have stairs, and if they did that they would only be accessible from the back yard, but it isn't, they go to the front. We just locked that door and closed the blinds, though it would have been nice feeling secure to let the shades open and listen to the wind while we slept.
Also, the bathroom was very spacious and nice! But, the shower was kind of a disappointment. I didn't find the temperature control to be so "user-friendly," and my husband had to duck to get his head wet because the water spout was so low. It surprised me that with such a nice place they wouldn't replace the shower-head.
Regardless of those things, we did enjoy it!!

This was an ideal location and was spotlessly clean. I woke up each morning and jogged at Fiscalini Ranch. We enjoyed the ocean---took many walks, watched the stars from the deck, enjoyed the ocean views, and RELAXED! No complaints whatsoever!

Best vacation we have ever had. Quiet, relaxing, clean, comfortable. Kitchen was well equiped, love all of the out door seating areas. We would definitely stay here again. Only draw back was the very steep driveway/parking area. We managed, but it was alittle challenging. LOVED not having cell phone service. The home phone was more than we needed! Great hiking in Fiscalini Ranch, small town, easy to get around, plenty to do......or not.

Your cottage far exceeded our expectations. This is a HOME and we felt right at home staying in your wonderful property. It was the perfect place for us to relax, cook, walk, read, listen to music and find a sunny spot to sit. Cambria is a little piece of paradise and we enjoyed the walking in the immediate area and further afield. Cambria village is great and so nice to wander and enjoy the different stores - Brett White Photography and Cambria Coffee Roaster were two of our favourites!
This place touched us deeply and we will definitely be back...and for longer...thank you so much for making your home available. Diane and Tony

We were looking for a special place to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and this cottage was perfect. Bright, clean, in a quiet neighborhood with a quarter-mile stiff walk to the beach (all uphill on the way back), it was the perfect place for us to relax. Town was only a few minutes away, with too many wonderful restaurants (The Sow's Ear! Robin's! Linn's!) to mention. Moonstone Winery's tasting room was among the best we'd been to anywhere, as was the Black Hand Winery's tasting room. With Route 46 near by, we had plenty of wineries to visit. With Morro Bay just a 20 minute drive down the coast one way and San Simeon a 15 minute drive up the coast the other way, there was a lot to do and see if we felt like leaving the comfort of the cottage.
The best part was being able to walk for hours along the Fiscalini Ranch bluffs, go beachcombing amongst the tidepools, and then retreat to the cottage for a glass of wine and a nice meal on the small balcony off the master bedroom, where we could see the waves and watch the sun set. And yes, we saw plenty of mule deer walking next to the house, a lovely surprise considering we were surrounded by other houses.
The kitchen was easy to cook in (electric stove and oven), but bring your own spices and staples (sugar, flour, olive oil, cooking oil, etc) if you're going to do some serious cooking as the freshness of some of them was questionable. The entire place was clean and inviting - the bed was FABULOUS and the bathroom upstairs, just amazing.
On the downside, this is truly an open plan cottage with the upstairs bedroom being completely open to the downstairs. Even walking around upstairs is noisy. I can't imagine being there with three other people - at times, one other person was bad enough! And while you can hear the ocean from the house, the views are very limited and best seen from upstairs. The pictures are misleading - the house isn't as isolated as they make it look, and you aren't right on the water. The driveway is steep, as are some of the hills getting to the beach, and I would not recommend this property for someone with difficulties walking, or with balance problems. And the spiral stair leading to the bedroom can be tricky if you have vision issues.
But the downsides are minimal when you compare the absolute wonderfulness of the place. We are definitely planning on coming back next spring.

We spent our 4th anniversary here in February, 2009. We were so delighted with this home that we are already planning to return in February, 2010. The ocean views were spectacular, especially from the master bedroom. It was a five minute walk down to the beach. The amenities were plentiful; we couldn't have asked for anything more. We loved the spiral stair case to the bedroom, too. We loved our quaint, beach cottage, it felt like our home. It was a perfect anniversary trip for my husband and I. I still have the address programmed into my favorites on my GPS since we'll definitely be returning in 2010!

We loved our stay in your artist's cottage in Camria. It was clean, well-appointed, and very confortable. Our kids LOVED the spiral staircase. We especially enjoyed sketching the deer and quail from the dining room table; it was so special to see baby deer right outside the window! We enjoyed walking to the beach and on the bluffs; the tidepools were very enjoyable.
