Our stay at Casa Rana was wonderful. It is perfectly kept home inside and out. Its a lovely set up and all the bedrooms are air conditioned. The owner and operator is very helpful in helping set up your trip and plan for events. And the staff is second to none! Having groceries delivered prior to our arrival was key. The road down to San Pedro and around this island is bumpy, so allow plenty of time and patience for getting around. Wonderful dock to hang out on and beautiful clean beach and pool on the property to enjoy. We liked using the two kayaks for going out on our own snorkel trips nearby. Highly recommend this property to you and your family.

The home owner, Richard, has created a tropical paradise where everything down to the smallest detail is just perfect. The photos for this home are beautiful but can't capture all the magic. I have been renting from VRBO for 15+ years and this was easily the best rental ever.
From the time we arrived until we left, Richard and his staff of groundskeeper, James, and housekeeper, Bea, take care of everything from dinners to golf cart rentals to arranging excursions with the best companies who will pick you up at the end of their private pier. This place is special, look no further for the perfect private getaway.

It was hard to tell/understand before going to San Pedro, but this is definitely the place to stay on the island! It’s about a 20-minute golf cart ride from Secret Beach and only a little farther to the center of town. We did not understand how much we would appreciate being farther from town until we got to Casa Rana. The house had just about everything you need, a beach, a pool, a dock, amazing hosts, and access to bars and restaurants. Moreover, you can leave for snorkeling excursions directly from the dock! You do not have to worry about going all the way into town. The owner, Richard, even arranged for the golf cart we rented to be delivered directly to Casa Rana so that we didn’t need to arrange additional transportation to get to the rental shop.

Our family of five stayed at Casa Rana for one week. The house was gorgeous and James & Bea were over the top helpful and informative. We did two excursions and James arranged for us to be picked up at our dock for both of them. Richard had a golf cart delivered to the home to be used for the duration of our stay. We loved carting around the island daily! It couldn’t have been better. And the meal Bea made for us was incredible. Can’t wait to go back!!!

My husband and another couple (with their daughter) stayed at Casa Rana for a week in March 2023 and had a wonderful time. Ambergris Caye has a wide range of properties for rental and this house with accompanying waterfront property/pier was well suited for our needs. The house is spacious and well cared for. The property is located approximately 7 mi north of San Pedro in a quiet area and is perfect for families seeking a more secluded place with modern amenities. The dock/pier was one of the highlights, with abundant sea life literally a short walk away. There are small restaurants/bars nearby for a night out if desired.
I must give a shout out to the marvelous staff, James and Bea, for their help with our vacation. James is the property manager, but has a canny ability to facilitate guest experiences and conveniences, as well as an insightful knowledge about the area, the people, the animals and the plants. Bea is an excellent cook and insightful hostess and made our stay comfortable and satisfying. They made hospitality look effortless. Thank you so much!

The house and property were perfect for our family of six. The caretakers James and Bea were great. James did a great job lining up our excursions with the local guides and he is very knowledgeable about San Pedro. Bea is an amazing chef, highly recommend.

Casa Rana is a spectacular location and absolutely beautiful home with gorgeous views. Richard and Diana are wonderful, they own the home and are very gracious, kind hosts! James and Bea run the property and they are beyond fantastic. Bea cooked us dinner two nights, you absolutely must have her traditional Belizian dinner. We're still talking about it! James was awesome and he scheduled two great boat tours to snorkel. The snorkeling is amazing, the Mexico Rocks reef is a direct view from the home. The turquoise blue sea is beyond words. You can fish right off the deck under the palapa, so fun we had a great time! We rented a golf cart too and you can cruise around town ~ lots of great restaurants/bars. We carted to Secret Beach which was a super fun experience! Casa Rana is a beautiful home with very feng shui vibes. Richard was fantastic with responding to our questions and helping to prepare for the trip. We had a very relaxing week and would 100% recommend staying here! We had a fantastic time on our vacation and house is as described. James and Ms. Bea were terrific and really made our vacation special. Ms. Bea is a FANTASTIC cook and James was super helpful in setting up our excursions including our snorkeling trip and renting our golf cart. House owners were also very helpful in making suggestions and making sure everything was ok. My dining recommendations include Sweet Water, Portofino, Moon that are all close by the house. In downtown San Pedro I recommend Elvi's Kitchen. O

Stayed here with our family of 6 for 6 nights in December 2022. The house is beautiful, well maintained, and very comfortable, we really enjoyed spending time on the dock. James the caretaker made our stay seamless for us, assisting with excursions, advice and fishing. Highly recommend having Bea cook for your first night at least, we really appreciated having dinner ready for us. Richard and Diane were very helpful with advice from getting to the island to what to do and where to get what we needed. Highly recommend a stay here!

My family stayed at Casa Rana for Christmas holiday. The home was beautiful and everything as pictured. Beautiful, quiet area with everything you need on site. Richard, the owner stopped by several times to make sure we had everything we needed and assisted with any questions. James was on site and helped my son and husband with all their fishing needs and went out of his way to make sure they had a great experience. He was so helpful with arranging any rides we needed…due to rain and winds we needed a taxi vs golf cart for dinner in town. He also set us up for diving and snorkeling excursions. Bea kept the home nice and clean and cooked us an amazing dinner! We couldn’t get enough of her ceviche!!!
The home was about 35 minutes golf cart ride for us to town which isn’t bad but we had the bazaar weather front that hit us with high winds and rain so we didn’t explore the town other then dinners.
Overall everyone involved with the home was incredible and welcoming. We were treated great and plan to return!!

Casa Rana is a delightful property. The team onsite made everything a breeze, from preparing wonderful, home-cooked meals, to cleaning and doing laundry, to making arrangements for snorkeling and fishing expeditions that pick you up from the property’s dock. Speaking of which, everyone should have a spot like the dock as their personal happy place. It’s amazing.

Casa Rana is awesome. My family had the most amazing week in Belize and Bea, James, Richard and Casa Rana were a huge part of that success.
House - The house itself is lovely. The main part of the house has no AC, but we spent the majority of our time outside so that didn’t matter at all. Bedrooms all had AC and cooled super quick when we went to sleep. Beds were so comfortable. The beach is lovely white sand. Unfortunately their beautiful beach has seaweed at the shore, but that is every house on this side of the island. However the dock is so wonderful. It is huge, has 5 comfortable chairs, and you can swim off the dock. I would rent Casa Rana again even knowing this.
Richard was great giving me information on tours, provisioning, flights, etc. all the I do was very helpful.
James was super helpful. 1st he arranged everything we needed at the house. He set us up with kayaks and he was instrumental in helping us book a 2nd trip to the mainland when our 1st trip was cancelled. He arranged a one on one trip with a tour guide so we could still see the Mayan Ruins at Lamanai.
The house is 7 miles to town. With a golf cart, 4 miles of paved road, and 3 miles of unpaved road it is about a 45 min trip. Richard sends a cab to pick you up and drop off at the airport. It is a closer trip to Secret Beach from Casa Rana than town. And there are restaurants out towards the house. We went to Portofino and it was really good. We did not mind at all being 7 miles away from town. The main reason for this was that we had Bea cook dinner for us on 4 different nights. We went out 2 nights (one at Truck Stop and one at Portofino). The main reason that I booked Casa Rana was because of the reviews regarding Beas cooking. The reviews were 100% accurate. Her food was sooooo good. The coconut ceviche, the belizean chicken, all the rice…everything we ate. We had appetizers and dessert at every meal. It was sooooo good. If you wanted to be closer to town this might not be the house for you, but we loved being able to stay at the house, have dinner and then go have drinks on the beautiful dock.
While we were in Belize we also became PADI Certified. We did all online classes prior to the trip and then did our pool training at the house and all the open water dives in the reef. We used White Sands Dove shop and I totally recommend them. It is super close and we were picked up from the dock. I also recommend their fishing and beach bbq trip.

Wonderful Trip!
We had an amazing time during our Stay at Casa Rana. Richard, James and Bea made it feel like a home away from home. All of our needs were taken care of from groceries before we arrived to booking all of our excursions with James to dinners made by Bea. Our group of 7 couldn’t have had a better time. We all highly recommend Casa Rana for your stay on Ambergris Caye.

Incredible House & Hosts
Casa Rana is everything as described and more. It is beautiful, immaculately maintained, and supported by a fantastic team. We loved our time on the property, relaxing and enjoying the ocean breeze. There is a second-story balcony with a wonderful swing where we found ourselves most nights. Each bedroom has an air conditioner that is strong and makes sleeping very comfortable. It is a perfect place if you want to settle in and unwind. Bea and James, the caretakers, were fantastic. Bea cooked for us for three nights, and each meal was delicious. James took care of organizing our activities and even made it possible for our adult children to fish off the dock behind the house. They caught a variety of fish that then James cleaned the fish, and we cooked them. It was one of the highlights of the trip. The owners and the caretakers live on the property and are accessible, but you wouldn't know they are there. It's a perfect situation.
The house is pretty far from town, and the road is rough. I wouldn't plan on taking trips to town every day. Richard, the homeowner, generously reserves and has delivered a golf cart, if you want, to the property. My only recommendation is that you consider upgrading the golf cart rental.
We had an incredible day of snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Alley with Catamaran Belize. That was worth the trip to town.
Final word - this house is about rest, relaxation, and restoration.

You can however swim off the end of the dock where there’s an amazing array of sea life including snappers and the local barracuda.

Wonderful Experience
We can't say enough nice things about the cleanliness of the property and the service we received. We traveled for 17+ hours to get there, and Richard, Diane, James got us all settled in late at night while we were in a bit of a daze. The house was immaculate and James was out cleaning up palm leaves, raking the sand, and cleaning the pool daily. He also helped us fish right from the dock! He was great to talk to about the local lore and history of the island, as well as helping us find all kinds of wildlife around the property. They provided kayaks for us to go on an adventure as well. James' wife Bea cooked us amazing, and I mean amazing dinners for 3 or 4 nights. We had a busy tour itinerary during our stay and we came home pretty tired to a piping hot dinner, table set, and dessert ready to go. I can't tell you how nice it was to not worry about dinner and have her incredible cooking. We also ate out a fair amount and we all agreed Bea's cooking was better than everywhere we went on the Caye.
If you want to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle in San Pedro this isn't for you. But if you want your family to experience what Ambergris used to be like before all of the tourists and want a unique experience, you need to book Casa Rana. We drove to San Pedro quite a bit, and it was great to escape it all at the end of the day and sit under the palapa in the evenings, swim and snorkel, and just enjoy the Caribbean breeze. We can't wait to go back!

Casa Rana is a beautiful property in a beautiful location. It is perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean. It certainly lived up to the pictures and the information on the listing.
Unlike many of our past VRBO/AirBNB rentals, we had regular contact with the owners. This was super helpful as this was our first trip to Ambergris Caye. They provided advice about flights/transfers, offered to and did line up our golf cart rental (delivered to the house), suggested activities, helped arrange grocery delivery, lined up on-site massages, and arranged for our pickup and return to the airport. The house's caretakers, Bea and James, live nearby and were charming and helpful. Bea is a wonderful cook and it is easy to arrange to have her prepare meals (which were outstanding). It was like having an (optional) concierge.
You don't have to take advantage of all this assistance - I'm sure you could do it all yourself if you wanted, but it was much appreciated and really bridged the gap between a vacation rental and a resort experience. The privacy and comfort of the former with the amenities of the latter (if you want). It was really a first class experience and I very much appreciated the chance to get to know the owners and expect we'll stay in touch in the years to come.
The house and grounds are spectacular. It is located well north of San Pedro providing for more seclusion. However, there are several dining options within easy golf cart driving range. If you are a diver, White Sands dive shop (recommended to us by the owners) does a great job and will pick you up from the dock at the house. It is also well worth taking advantage of the grocery delivery and Bea's cooking services. You won't really want to leave the house....
I really cannot recommend Casa Rana highly enough.

5 Star Amazing Place on the North Island of Ambergris Caye
My husband and I have visited Belize every year since 2004 mainly to San Pedro, but also on the mainland. We love Belize and even bought a condo on the south island! After 10 years, we sold the condo, and were looking for a different place to stay in Belize and looked to the North Island of Ambergris Caye. It was wonderful that Casa Rena was available and we booked a 3 week stay. This is a 5 star house and the owners and staff make you feel that you are staying at a 5 star hotel! Seriously. The house is impeccably appointed by owner Diana with quite a wow factor. Every detail has been thought about and designed including the outdoor patios, pool, dock and palapa. We had housekeeping services included 6 days per week and laundry services twice a week. Casa Rena's available chef, Bea, was amazing and we decided to order dinner 4 nights per week for 3 weeks-- even repeated orders! Fish was caught by the owner Richard and his helper James. This was the most amazing place I've ever stayed in Belize. Please don't miss this experience. We have already booked again for next year.

The home is welcoming and well appointed and it's far enough to miss the noise and commotion of the city but close enough to be there via boat ride (when water taxis are running) or an adventurous and bumpy golf cart ride. The staff at Casa Rana made the stay wonderful. The food was awesome and their local knowledge came in very handy. We will be back!

Casa Rana is a wonderful place to stay
The home is welcoming and well appointed and it's far enough to miss the noise and commotion of the city but close enough to be there via boat ride (when water taxis are running) or an adventurous and bumpy golf cart ride. The staff at Casa Rana made the stay wonderful. The food was awesome and their local knowledge came in very handy. We will be back!

The property is even better than the pictures. The house is perfect. Richard and Diane are incredible hosts. The property manager James will book tours for you, give fishing advise and take acre of what ever you need go make your stay enjoyable. If you are going to Belize, I highly recommend staying at Casa Rana.

If you have the opportunity to stay at Casa Rana, on Ambergris Caye, in Belize, do it!The house is among the most luxurious on Ambergris Caye. The owners Diana and Richard go out of their way to be helpful and the caretakers Bea and James are charming and delightful. Two of our goals were snorkeling and a trip to a major Mayan site. We mentioned this to Richard and with very short notice he arranged both trips with private guides and transportationwhich was no small feat since we needed to fly to the mainland for the Mayan trip. Even for two inexperienced snorkelers, the snorkeling was fabulous. Our snorkeling guide picked us up at our dock.We snorkeled above a coral reef, in a Marine Preserve, with tropical fish of all kinds. Love the Sargent Majors! Bea and James are a treasure! James was our private guide to the island, the country and to the culture of Belize. Bea looked after us, took care of the house, did our laundry and prepared locally inspired meals for us.The house is on the beach with a private dock and a view of the off-shore coral reef. On our first night there, while standing on the dock, we watched an eagle ray feeding below us. Unforgettable!
