Great place to connect with creative people but not the cleanest

I booked one night and stayed for nearly 3 weeks. This place is by far my favourite hostel in Sri Lanka and one of the best I’ve stayed in throughout Asia. Amazing community vibes, I met open minded and friendly people hear. Staff are really kind and caring. Daily yoga with the delightful Lola and minutes away from a wonderful wild beach.

The kitchen is pretty messy and the place isn’t the most clean but I still had the best time here.

NATURAL SPACE NICE, BUT VERY DIRTY COMMON AREAS.

The space, the natural area around it.

Really dirty. All the common areas are full of empty beers, cigarettes, food .. the kitchen is really disgusting. We booked a private room and at the description it said we had our own shower. The guy at reception seemed not know his work, as he placed us in a room with private bathroom. The sink was totally blocked from the beginning, so we had to use the shower for everything. FURTHERMORE at the end of our stay the same guy at reception tried to charge us double price because apparently "that was not the room we booked for". He should have checked his job and know this from BEFORE. This situation made me really uncomfortable. Luckily, the owner knew how to manage the situation with professionalism and charged us the amount that we booked for, so thank you.

Very nice

Great place to stay for meeting other travellers. Staff is super helpful, great chill vibes, yoga in the mornings, close to nature, not far from town center, restaurants etc.

Cozy and budget friendly stay

The property was positioned in a very calm place, to ensure you get a peaceful night, i was happy so far with a one night stay, mosquito nets has some halls that i easily covered with a tower.

The plugs are not fit for european charger and the bed cover was tiny for two people, but we probably could have asked for a bigger one or a second one.

Good

-The toilet was reasonably clean -in comparaison with other hostels with shared bathroom in Sri Lanka-. -They've got a big patio -The room was quite enough

-I would have liked to meet a person who could do directly check in with -and not some guest who felt he had to do it therefore giving out all the time-. -I would have loved to find was I booked -bedroom with a private bathroom- but instead I was provided with a shared one. -I would have enjoy finding a space dedicated to yoga, meditation and surf but instead I found a very loud guest thinking he has to act like the owner and drinking all the time. -I am rather disappointed, nevertheless I was just here for a day -wouldnt like to extend for these reasons-. -Appart from that the so called 'owner' didnt speak english -which is quite common in Sri Lanka so not rare, but if you have the correct attitude that doesnt matter so much. -Also would have liked my room to be clean but I found instead bog spiderwebs and a pilgrimage of ants going from one wall of my room to another.

Nice vibe but needs a wash

Nice vibe at this place, and the other people staying there were great. They've got a lovely place for yoga and the gardens nice too.

But the kitchen and communal areas were pretty gross and need a deep clean.

Peaceful and unique stay.

Sydney- the owner- was warm, friendly and went out of his way to make my stay the most comfortable and pleasant that it could be. The location is peaceful and close to nice food places and the beach. The dorms are spacious and airy, but the yoga studio is the best part as it allows you to practice any time you like or join one of the classes offered on site. Having booked an extra night, I would definitely recommend this as a calm and unique place to stay.

Welcoming staff, great atmosphere, cool accomodation and location near a picturesque beach, intense yoga practice, availability of massage and surfing... and simply stralling in a beautiful Lankeese cantryside.

the atmosphere there is so peaceful in the morning, and so cheerful in the afternoon. every guest is taking part of the Siri Medura adventure, and the hosts are always ready to help. the price is definitely worth it , and the scooter rental is also very cheap. they have very good massages

my second home

The moment I arrived I knew I am in the right place now. I can recommend the hostel to anyone who might want to stay longer in one place. The manager is super helpful and lovely. The energy is very warm and familiar. Yoga ever day, so what more do you need? Yes it's not a luxury hotel but if that's not what you're looking for it's a great place to stay. I love it!

Just come here. You might rediscover your soul.

Some of the finest people I ever met on this planet were here. I booked for one night and stayed for a month and a half. I would've stayed much longer if I could. This place allowed for creating a sense of true community. Amazing space. Warm, chill, open, welcoming, beautiful. The friends that I've made here supported and inspired me during a very difficult time in my life. I don't hesitate to say that this was a life changing experience for me. Maybe it can be that for you too.

Bad

The location is okayyy. You see monkeys and wildlife in the morning which is nice. Places to eat or drink quite nearby. The locals running the place were very nice and friendly.

The people staying there a lot of them had quite a dark energy. There were a lot of german guys who had all been there a while and at a few points I felt intimidated. I came back from the beach at around 2pm and there were 2 guys with very loud music blasting snorting some white substance. I went there to learn to surf and hence they have surf in their name I thought they would have some information about surfing but when i asked the staff they just told me to ask the guests staying there. It was very dirty. There was blood all over the sink and the showers were filthy. I didn't see anyone clean anything. Full of people doing drugs with a negative atmosphere. One of the guests there tried to scam me. I left a day early.

the most beautiful hostel !

loved it here! only stayed 2 nights as had already made plans for after but was sad to leave. peaceful and quiet off the main road but 2 min walk to lovely beach. beautiful dorm space and yoga shala

No sleep because guests playing horrible techno

The dorm is on the rooftop, so outside. The other guests (also longterm-guests) were partying like crazy in the garden so I could not get any sleep. Bathrooms look like they never get cleaned and the mattress is just terrible. If you don’t care about all that it’s a nice place to go! The location is remote, if you’d like a bar/restaurant on walking distance nearby this is not the place to be.

Amazing energy & people!

Beautiful place with amazing people and a very very welcoming energy! I felt immediately like part of the family. Every morning there are yoga classes in the yoga Shala, the house has a beautiful garden with a volleyball and a fire place. Bit out of town but I’d loved it as it is very quite. I can really recommend the Yoga dorm where you sleep outside :) Buddhist prayers at 5 am though but I enjoyed it!

It is not very clean so if you are picky in that it might not be your place

Great project to look after rainforest Staff were friendly and apologised when they arrived Dogs are great Nice atmosphere Sydney allowed us to change our booking for free to only 1 night (maybe he didn't have room for us anyway!)

We arrived and they had allowed another guest to extend without checking that we had booked. He did have space for us but not in the standard sized room, instead we were in the smallest room I've ever seen (think Harry Potter under the stairs) The guy looking after the place when we checked in spoke no English so it was hard to know what was going on The bathrooms were not so clean As long term travellers we actually found midigama quite pretentious and lacked any local authenticity. It's full of western style restaurants and girls walking on the road in bikinis which is, in my view, quite disrespectful of local culture.

A hotel full of surfers, but not the posh sort, I immediately felt like in a commune. People asking if I needed anything from the shops, etc. Great Atmosphere
