Guest Access: The entire half of a double, with four beds, two baths, kitchen, laundry, and access to the backyard and parking. The Neighborhood: This house is located just a short walk to the marigny neighborhood known for its funky articheture, art, and music! The Faubourg Marigny, commonly just Marigny, is a hip neighborhood just "below" (down river from) the French Quarter. Best known for the great live music district on Frenchmen Street, the Marigny also offers neighborhood cafes & businesses, historic architecture, and more. It has the air of what the French Quarter was in it's golden days. It has a few small hotels, and many bed-and-breakfasts, as well as a number of good restaurants, coffee shops, and music venues. Architecturally, the Marigny is known for its many styles of Creole cottages, most of which date to the 19th century. Its "heart" is Washington Square Park (bounded by Frenchmen Street, Royal Street, Dauphine Street, and Elysian Fields Avenue). Frenchmen Street is the main nightlife district, with half a dozen live music clubs and just as many restaurants in four short blocks. At Mardi Gras, the Marigny is one of the city's hidden hot spots. Very popular with locals, who enjoy partying in the streets without the busy atmosphere of Bourbon Street. Crowds gather at the corner of Royal and Kerlerec (outside of R-Bar Inn) as well as at the intersection of Royal and Franklin. Elaborate costumes are the order of the day, along with brass bands and many drummers. Two weeks before Mardi Gras, the Marigny is also the starting place for the Krewe du Vieux, a satirical, raunchy parade in 19th-century Carnival style! Complete with small floats drawn by krewe members and mules. Local cafes, restaurants and music venues line Frenchmen Street. Known for its bohemian atmosphere, the Marigny is home to many artists and musicians, as well as a sizable gay and lesbian population. Among its notable residents are chef Paul Prudhomme, painter James Michalopoulas, and actors Harry Shearer and Jennifer Coolidge, who can be seen around town when they're not working in L.A. Local writers include New Orleans mystery writers, Julie Smith and J.M. Redmann, as well as Andrei Codrescu, Michael Swindle, and Kevin Allman. Frenchmen Street is in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood just below the lower edge of the Quarter. A 4 block stretch of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops mixed with live music venues make it one of the city's most hip places, catering more to locals than tourists (though tourists are certainly welcome, and welcomed). On any given night, one might find modern jazz, swinging traditional jazz, Latin American style music, rockabilly, and more within this small area. Getting Around: Can walk most places. Easy Lyft/ Uber to get everywhere else. Other Things to Note: I manage several airbnb units in the area- if you think another unit may fit your needs better, feel free to take a look at my other listings Interaction with Guests: We interact as little or as much as you like. We are always happy to meet guests, answer any questions or provide recommendations.

The house worked well for our family of five, which included three teenagers. HOWEVER, I feel it is super important to share with future renters a few things: 1) the fourth ‘bedroom’ is actually attached to the master bedroom, and when used nullifies even having a master. There is no privacy for those two rooms as you have to share the bathroom and the only door to it is through the master bedroom. 2) serious foundation issues. Like the entire house leans and the staircase to the second floor with two bedrooms is seriously sketchy. Crazy tight fit, leans, missing balusters/spindles and the last step into the bedroom feels like it’s gonna fall in. 3) no insulation. You can hear everyone, not just in your side of the house, but both sides. Our two teenage girls stayed upstairs and couldn’t sleep because you could hear the people in the other side snored so loudly. Downstairs the bedroom is close to the bathroom of the other side, and we were often woke up from hearing them either have bowel movements or throwing up, it was super… and, the two downstairs bedrooms have to get passed by for the other side to get to their part so, again, woken up often by people just coming home. The house is old and I expected to deal with some old house issues, but the three that really need looked into are the sink in the downstairs bathroom does not drain, the toilet does not stop running, and the shower has a super short shower curtain so every shower pooled the floor. I could go on…

Parking nightmare and invasions of privacy
Parking nightmare and invasions of privacy
Street parking was a problem for the entire week we stayed at this property. The gate to the private driveway was constantly blocked by other vehicles and instead of the property manager taking action to correct the issue I was provided a number to call to have vehicles towed. Also, the property actually showed the property to a potential buyer / renter while we were staying at the property. I was called on Wednesday morning and alerted people were coming to look at the property five minutes before the interested party arrived. The property owner was already at the property when he called me.
