The roof top pool and amazing ocean view.
The property does not have a sandy beach. There’s lots of rocks and sea urchins.

The rooms are beautiful and spacious and the hotel is quiet. The staff is ok not overly friendly but not unfriendly either.
The breakfast that was included was very limited. Not much choice and small portions and many items you had to pay extra for. The food options in general at the hotel were not great and the food overal not very good. Any recommendation we got from the staff for restaurants or places to go to also were very poor.

nice panoramic view , bathtub on balcony .
very expensive, food was ok but not excellent .

Great place to rest and stay far from the crowds, beautiful scenery in a quiet environment, we loved it! Amazing staff who care for their guests comfort, everyone was very professional. The room was super clean, the food was delicious, we could not hope for a better place. Ideal for a romantic and quiet getaway.
A couple errors and omissions in our food orders at the beach club.

Rooftop pool kept us cool in the spring Mexican heat!
we felt “ocean view” didn’t describe our room, especially for the premium paid for it.

Absolutely the best, most beautiful, comfortable, clean, elegant, exclusive property.
We just had one blip where they forgot our anniversary dinner reservation on the beach. They were very apologetic and trying to make up for it. Also, bring water shoes for the beach…it’s rocky.

Room was lovely and facilities were great
We were overcharged by MXN 10,000 while checking out. I had to go through the list line by line to point out all the things we didn't consume that were charged to our room. They didn't have any receipts for them and basically just said 'oops' and removed the charges.
Not sure if it was a scam or a mistake, but its the first time we've seen something like this for this amount so I'd warn anyone staying here to be very careful and check all their bills

room was large and great sea view
lack of maintenance

For some reason I love the spacious room and the bed sheet.... I have the best sleep throughout my trip compare to the other two hotels.
the location is beachfront but not swimable and far from the centro where everything happens.

Lovely rooms and a great size and comfy bed.
Pool on lower level was great for kids to play all day as it was heated.
Adult only pool was lovely on roof top and staff on rooftop were fab. Also a great spot to watch the sunset in the eve.
Beach right in front of hotel.
Massage on beach was lovely and they have a small gym.
Not good transport options to get to nearby town. And taxis ordered by cab are priced more expensive than London. Hotel should have a shuttle service or something to town for free.
Not many options for food and drink in walking distance.
Al a carte service at breakfast was pretty slow. On average 1.5 hours needed for breakfast.

My husband and I came to this hotel from another all-inclusive five-star hotel, which we did not like at all. We were absolutely thrilled with the Mvngata, the room, the service and the food were amazing. The location is great, very close to the center of Play del Carmen where you can walk around, find entertainment for all tastes and where there are many great restaurants. This hotel is for those who do not want a boring typical all-inclusive vacation and loves aesthetics and privacy.
The only thing that upset us a little bit was the beach - in front of the hotel to enter the water is unreal, there is a coral reef and there is no way to swim, but if you walk to the left or right from the hotel on the beach you can walk to a sandy shore and swim in the ocean. It is not very convenient if you travel with children, but in general you can also still swim in the pool

Rooftop pool and beach access is nice. Bridal suite was awesome. Breakfast was good.
Out of the way but close to town. Would need a car to stay unless you stayed in the hotel the whole time. Staff was nice and some were very cool but it was a little mixed on who cared and who went through the motions.

rooms, location and friendly staff
The food is too exotic and unusual combinations at breakfast and upstairs lunch and dinner

The reception staff as well as restaurant staff was really nice.
Amazing families, rooms and beach.

The hotel is reasonably new, modern design of the rooms
Territory of the hotel is super narrow with only 40-50 meters beach front. Water entrance is full of rocks, so, you need to walk 100m left or 300m right to swim in the sea.
Rooftop pool is super small and, actually, it’s more a part of the bar where people stay in the water with drinks.
The most negative fact - they allow people from aside to come and use all hotel’s facilities for a “day pass” of 40$, so, after 10am all sun beds are occupied and you have 1m max between people on the beach side. A lot of noise and really not quite and comfortable for the rest.

A wonderful boutique hotel, right on the beach just outside of Playa del Carmen. The entire staff, from the front desk to the waiters, to the housekeeping goes out of their way to make you feel like a most welcomed guest. A special shout out to Claudia and Leslie at the front desk, and Marco who always served breakfast with a smile. We were also very grateful for the free room upgrade. The hotel has beach access with several lounge chairs and umbrellas. It's a little rocky in the water right outside the hotel for swimming, but you only need to walk 100m down the beach to find the sandy areas. The staff also clean up the seaweed that washes ashore daily. There is a small ground floor pool, as well as an infinity pool by the rooftop bar, and the hotel offers massage services. If an all-inclusive is not your thing, and your are looking for a smaller hotel, then look no further than Mvngata.

the staff was really friendly and helpful, especially Claudia, Lesley, Luigi and Juan Carlos and they try to solve every issue or enquiry you have.
some items on the menu weren’t available during our entire stay, like the salmon… but that was due to supply chain issues.

we were so impressed with the room! it is huge size, very comfortable, stylish design, with the cultural elements of decor of the area. We stayed in sea view room and in partial sea view, both types offer excellent view!
breakfast is being brought to the table which is much better concept than buffet, we liked it very much.
Team is very helpful, Carlos and Gorje took a good care of us during our stay, arranging bookings, helping with taxi and go above and beyond, to make our stay comfortable.
beach is rocky but it is very walkable and there are many spots to swim few meters from the hotel. it was rather a pleasure to have stroll at the beach.
liked everything

Incredible beautiful hotel. Very new, construction finished only last year and the hotel opened in May 2021. Despite being a young hotel, everything is very professional. Already the entrance (lobby) is very cool, with a nice open corridor straight to the sea. In between there is the restaurant, pool and beach beds. Know there are two pools, one next to the beach/restaurant and one on the roof top. Highly recommended to visit the rooftop pool, very nice view and good service from the rooftop bar, also there is is seating area and the beds on the rooftop are very nice. Also on the beach the beds are really nice. Actually in general the facilities everywhere are well thought through, comfortable and sufficient. We only had breakfast and lunch at the hotel, both are nice. Breakfast options are limited but ok, for lunch there are many options and the quality is very good. The room itself is very pretty, modern and high quality. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud, shower is amazing, tv is modern and big and the size of the room is impressive. Know there are only 23 rooms in this "boutique" hotel, so overall it is very quiet and comfortable. All personnel is very friendly and helpful, especially at the reception they have supported us with any question (trips, restaurants, taxi's, etc.) we had. Prices of food are ok, but of the drinks is a bit high. Although compared to close-by hotels it is very good. You simply need to take into account you are in a touristic area, so expect price levels accordingly.
Only a few things to know which were not as expected, requiring improvement, or things to consider as a guest before booking. The beach is very nice, however going into the sea is either uncomfortable or actually dangerous as there is quite a lot of rock. In addition, depending on the season, there can be a lot of seaweed. Although the hotel puts a lot of effort in cleaning the part of the beach in front of the hotel every morning. You can walk to other hotels via the beach, however close-by hotels are more resorts and quite expensive, often requiring payment to lay-down or even not allowing entrance whatsoever. Also the prices here is quite high. So you will go to the city center often, for which you will need to take into account it is a 20 USD or 300 MXN every single trip (for only a 10 minute taxi ride). Know that taxi's are expensive in general, however you can (should) negotiate with the drivers.
In general the service of the people is very good, however the constant ask for tips at every receipt is really annoying. Based on the price level of the food and drinks proper payment of the employees should be included. We booked a room including breakfast, but even after breakfast we were asked to give a tip, this is really unacceptable. In general this gives a very negative feeling regarding value for money.

New hotel, the rooms are spacious outstanding. The terrace with the pool is breathtaking

This is an amazing boutique hotel with just 23 large rooms, on a quiet part of the beach, with beautiful coconut trees for shade, plenty of lounge areas, sunbeds, 2 pools, with incredible attentive staff in every area. The food choices were excellent for such a small hotel and the quality of food even better. We stayed there just to relax and to get away from the noise of the city, and so the quietness of this hotel and the food selection was just perfect. It's hard to mention all the names of the staff that stood out, because in all honesty, they were are extremely professional, very well trained, very friendly, and welcoming at all times. From the ladies on reception, to the servers at the beach club and roof top, everyone deserves congratulations for running this hotel so well. If you are driving to this hotel, there is parking inside and right by the lobby. If you are the type of guest that likes to work out, they also have a small gym which you can use. We really loved the choice of having a pool on the beach to relax by during the day, and a pool on the roof top for sunsets. The rooms are very large and comfortable, with a wonderful hammock on the balcony and views of the ocean. The rooms are also spotlessly cleaned to a very high standard, with plenty of storage space, a mini bar, amazing pressure on the rain shower and they have a Nespresso machine. For those that need Wi-Fi to work while you are away, they have excellent connectivity there in all areas. We certainly look forward to going back to this hidden gem in Playa del Carmen, as it has everything we look for in a relaxing get-away boutique hotel.
This hotel was so perfect, so I can't think of one thing that needs to be improved!

The facilities were quite nice and the building is brand new
They are offering breakfast à la cart. I would prefer Buffet - then you don’t have to wait so long for your breakfast
