Old worn down hotel in need of renovation.

This stay is beyond my expectations, the location, professional demeanor of staff , hospitality and price points are all 5 stars! This is an old old building so expect to carry your luggage 10 steps even after the lift ride. Kyle , is a great person in all aspects, their patience and dedication to great service wins my heart .

In front of train station - not the best crowd at night and there is a nightclub/lounge also on the corner that does not attract the best crowd.

Loved our stay.

It was the best choice for accommodation on this trip and I will definitely come back next time.

Closet hangers way too high. Had to step inside to hang clothes. Also, safe is on the floor. Had to get on knees to use the safe. Terrible!!! Your designer did not think nor care about seniors. How do short people hang clothes when hangers are in the sky?

The location is amazing, close to the boat docking area and the train station. The location also houses a Starbucks and is nearby to a few nice restaurants. I did however, have a few issues during my stay. The room that I was assigned to had horrible shower drainage issues as well as an unstable shower head holder that nearly hit my head twice and when I informed the staff about it, the next day the issues were worsened, and the water pooled at my feet and did not go down until many hours later so that was not a pleasant experience. The other issue I had was the wifi was very slow and spotty, often disconnecting or loading very slowly. I did like the room size and the service from the staff, they gave 2 free sparking water bottles and the bathroom was decent sized for a double room. There was a bit of noise on Fridays and Saturdays from the street below from bars even with the windows closed so be mindful of that. Additionally, on one of the nights of my stay, the hotel had a ringing alarm noise go off at 3 am which woke me up and disrupted my sleep unfortunately. Overall it's a decent hotel but I was expecting way more (particularly a working shower), especially for how overpriced it is.

Lots of very late night noise from parting (3am).

the room they gave me wasn’t exactly as the one I booked. And they did absolutely nothing in terms of compensation and help.

Can’t believe they would not honor a refund for medical emergency. That was expensive.

Hotel Monopol’s location is great—right across the street from the train station and about two blocks away from the old town. The room we had was quite large and very quiet. The hotel is over 100 years old. We would stay there again.

Wi-Fi not working for 3 days . Very poor housekeeping.
Did not refill finish wrinting paper.

Great location

Outdated Finishes, poor service, no toothbrushes, safe locker was broken, very tight poorly designed room and small elevator. Not worth the money. All communication emails in a language other than English which is meaningless.
Amount charged more on credit card and final invoice shows less.

Great location ... but everything else was not up to scratch. Old hotel, old facilities, no coffee in the room, elevator access limited to ONE, long lines to get up to the floor. Expensive for the quality offered.

The printer is outdated and everything so old in it. They charge money for kids under 2 that’s very weird and never seen that any where. They also charge me extra money if I want to have a air conditioner in the room 😂

Location was superb. Breakfast was included on my reservation and it was much better than standard hotel breakfasts. Unique layout of hotel
Unfortunately, the beds and especially the pillows were terribly uncomfortable
We struggled to get to sleep despite busy days. There is no air conditioning but a fan is provided. It oscillates so that’s something

Not clean, lobby is very narrow, no parking

Ideally located hotel with good amenities. The check in process was good with a friendly front desk.

Check in was nice and easy and the room was nice and clean. The staff helped me figure out parking in the area which was a big help.

Rooms are old, but bathrooms are updated. Saturday night club music was loud.

Had a junior suite which was really nice. The big bottle of free water was welcome, but that was about it for amenities. Nice old hotel, but no lobby which has been given over to McDonalds, Starbucks, and a Mobile phone shop. It was a good deal for a very big room, but if you are a tourist, the other side of the river is where it's at. Staff was nice, but I got charged city tax which was supposed to have been included in my pre-paid bill. Watch out for that.

We had a very good experience at hotel Monopol. The hotel was in a great location, clean, wonderful restaurants and bars nearby but the best part was the friendly staff!
4.0
Monopol is from the era of Grand Hotels, in this case ageing and in need of repair and refurbishment. The hotel resembles castles of it's age on the outside and neglect on the inside. Location is the best attribute, next to the inner harbor. and Lucerne downtown, including the Lucerne Festival venue and the main RR station all of which can be reached on foot underground. Starbucks in the building for those who must, plenty of eating places around as well as shopping within walking. Rooms are small but comfortable.

Hotel Monopol’s location was really convenient for the proximity to train station and many attractions in Lucerne. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The bar at the top floor of the hotel has great selection of bar friendly foods and drinks. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The only drawback is that rooms are not air conditioned - but it wasn’t a problem for us as the weather was cool.
2.5
Easy access to find foods, convenient store, shopping stores, public transport and facing beautiful city. The room was spacious. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Starbucks just at downstairs. Will come again.

Beautiful hotel in perfect location. My room was very big with a lot of quality fittings. Everything was clean and in good condition.
The 2 things that could be improved IMO were the thickness of the curtains (in the morning they seemed to let in a lot of light) and the note about the air conditioning (it was written in very bad english with a lot of mistakes, just looked a bit unprofessional) but those were only details. I really enjoyed my stay.

Wonderful hotel. Very near the main station and within walking distance from everything you need. Many dining options nearby and good transport links. Would highly recommend.
