Oh, what a GLORIOUS, breathtaking place! Those who are tired of booking (and paying for) supposedly “5-Star” accommodations—only to be met with “3-Star” service & surroundings—need look no further : The Grand Hotel is EVERYTHING you would expect (and more) in a first-class establishment ….
From the service, to the opulent surroundings, to the smallest of special requests—all, were met and exceeded by the Grand’s fine staff….With decor original to the building’s 1880s construction, I swooned over the Bird’s Eye Maple end tables, writing desk & Chest of Drawers….A bathroom entirely in white & red marbles, lovely nineteenth Century chandeliers in the room—and a wrought iron balcony, overlooking Lake Luzern & Mt. Pilates ….
The staff are trained to the highest level of service; anything wanting will be supplied….There is a fabulous restaurant in the hotel, and full spa treatments are offered….An opulent, yet relaxing atmosphere surround one at The Grand. Cannot rate highly enough.

This is one of the best hotels at which I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying. It’s beautiful, has several restaurants if you want to stay on property, the staff is fantastic and the location is perfect for walking everywhere you’d want to go in Lucerne. Highly recommend!!!

A short stay again and mostly top notch. Two areas that were not include pop music played by the Brasserie that could be heard from my room above and notably smaller breakfast selection.

What an overpriced hotel!! We had a lake view room - that we paid for! We ended up with a horrible small room with no view. They did nothing to make up for having to move to that kind of room. The room was on the other side of the hotel and if we left our room key wouldn’t open the main door!!! They acted like they were doing us a favor. You could clearly tell that room was never used because the water came out brown. You know when the pipes haven’t been used in awhile. Plus there was a company Christmas party and it was so loud. Because of this company party there was no room service or anything!!! We were able to
Get a bottle of wine. When we checked out they charged us like 90 Francs for a bottle of wine that was 19.99 at the wine shop across the street. He even had the nerve to tell me he sent us the cheapest bottle they had. I kid you not he said that to me. Highly disappointed in the hotel.

Very accommodating to our requests. A beautiful hotel to stay.

I was given a very small room, which is even smaller than a regular room (418), and the AC wasn’t even working well for a small room
Which was unprofessional

My room was terrific. Very beautiful decor in soft yellows , a large fully equipped bathroom with a lovely balcony looking at the lake. I loved this space. The hotel is situated close enough to walk to everything in Lucerne but far enough away from the hustle bustle that sitting by the waters edge is peaceful. The view is spectacular. It was very hot in Lucerne this week. I was thankful for the very good air conditioning in my room and the wide variety of restaurants on site with patio dining.

From the front staff to the back deck dining, everybody was kind, courteous, and very Friendly. They even found me a piano to play on. Next time I will be the outdoor entertainment.
We will be staying there again and on future visits

Staying at the Grand Hotel National was one of the best stays I’ve ever had at any hotel. Truly a 5 star experience! From the moment we set foot at the hotel, we were treated with kindness. The hotel and our room were designed beautifully and everything was comfortable and kept up very well. Our room had a beautiful view of Lake Lucerne and we were given everything we needed for our stay. We dined at a few of the restaurants on site and they were wonderful. The best part was starting our mornings off in the indoor pool and sauna!
Roman and the rest of the staff throughout the hotel were all so professional and friendly. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

This property is AMAZING! the location was really nice BUUT the walls are thin you clearly listen to EVERYTHING next door, I hardly sleep one night because a couple in the room next door were super loud, literally felt like they were in my room.

Really lovely hotel, the Lake view room was spectacular.
Building and furnishings are beautiful and well kept.
Appreciated little touches like fruit and biscuits in the room, and free soft drinks in the mini fridge.
All of the staff were delightful.
It he hotel is in the perfect location, fronting the lake, but very close to the Old Town

The hotel room walls were thin with a very noisy couple next to us in 407. Klingers Restorante was disappointing, good service but the food was less than desirable. Too much salt and the salmon was cooked on the wrong side.

We had a nice stay at the hotel. We ate at the Chinese restaurant which was excellent and we had an amazing view over the lake from the small terrace outside our room. The staff were also great. Two things that were less good were the breakfast (sausages and beans were cold and staff didn’t really explain to us how it worked when we arrived to be seated, plus the oat milk served in the latte separated as wasn’t barista style) and the fact that due to it being an old building the walls are quite thin so we could hear the people in the room next to us who were talking quite loudly for an hour when we were trying to sleep!

This is a stunning hotel with perfect location to see all Lucerne has to offer. Rooms are large and decorated with beautiful antique furniture. Bathroom is huge and stunning! Our room faced the lake and worth the extra $$. Staff went above and beyond even inviting us to take part in a music festival event. We took a short boat ride from the hotel to see the Peruvian youth orchestra and Juan Diego Florez, tenor, then return to hotel for a specially prepared dinner. One of the highlights of our trip that we knew nothing about without the encouragement by staff. We are so grateful!! We will never stay anywhere else!! Thanks Grand National, you do it all right!

The hotel is centrally location which made getting around very easy. Our room was clean but it was also very small and the AC was broken. The staff brought us a portable AC but it was still hot so we had to leave the window open at night which was very noisy. It didn’t feel like we were staying at a 5 star hotel. We also didn’t receive any Expedia VIP services such as late check out or complimentary room upgrade.

It’s a beautiful old hotel with a great sun terrace and rooms had high ceilings. The bathrooms are large and nice. Our first room was very small and the key kept not working, they changed our room the next day to a bigger one, but they are not big on upgrades at this hotel. Also, the staff meant well and were nice but they were not particularly knowledgeable. Overall, the hotel did not detract from our experience in Lucerne but it did not enhance it either.
