It is a little pricey, but well worth the cost. Our butler was right there at every turn, even on her day off!

Spectacular!

Service throughout the resort is A as are many resorts in the area.
Overall layout of the resort is a mortal flaw that really cannot be corrected. Most rooms are at least a 15-20 minute walk to the beach and are built on a swamp (which they call canals)
With this being the case, the rooms are far removed from the real reason that guests visit....the ocean/beach!
Shame on us for not looking at a map prior to but had we realized this we would not have booked. The golf cart transit logistics really take away from a relaxing/enjoyable experience.
The overall theme for the resort is to book you in for a reasonable amount and then hit you from all angles for food, beverage, and fee costs.
Be prepared for at least $1500-2000 in additional room charges (food, beverage, fees) for a family of four over a 4 night stay. $30 average hamburgers and $18 poolside pina coladas really take away from enjoyable experience.
Overall there are many other resorts options that offer far superior experience for less costs. We have visited several other resorts in the area that we have been repeat visitors to....The Fairmont Mayakoba will not be one of them.
Sadly, knowing what we know now we regret staying here.

Beautiful property!! The setting and hotel renovations were top notch. However, the service was ver lackluster to say the least especially at the restaurants. Finally, food prices are very high and not justified by the food quality

Gorgeous grounds, fabulous service, beautiful white beaches
5.0
While the pricing is not for the faint of heart, everything about this resort is 5-start and then some. The grounds are stunning, the staff kind and helpful, and the amenities abundant.
Some highlights:
1) Beach area casita suite: we stayed in one of these with our two kids and it was fabulous. We had a rooftop plunge pool along with a beautiful view of the jungle from our back deck. We were steps from the beach club as well. Additionally the room comes with butler service and that truly made for a spectacular vacation. From restaurant recommendations, to activity bookings, to answering our every question (I had a lot!), Miguel was outstanding. All I did was text him and he got it done.
2) Grounds: I've never stayed at a resort like this where you are literally in the middle of a jungle, but with all the high end luxury of a 5 star property. We saw tons of wildlife and it was just amazing to be in the beauty of that natural setting.
3) Bikes: We loved hopping on a bike at any moment and heading to another pool or just exploring the grounds.
4) Restaurants: At fairmont we ate at La Laguna, Hix Bar, and then ordered several times from the pool side menu. La Laguna was fabulous. And the setting right on the water was so cool. Hix bar was just ok.
Do NOT miss Agave Azul at Rosewood and Saffron at Banyan Tree. AMAZING.

The property needs to add a grocery store We had to purchase a $30 taxi to purchase fruits and vegetables.
The restaurants are over priced for average food. Everything else was beautiful!!!!
Miguel, my driver was a great experience of our stay.

The hotel is superb, the grounds beautiful, service excellent. Fairmont does need to improve the quality of the food and wine. Dining was a disappointment.

The fairmont Mayakoba is spectacular! The rooms were wonderful and the food and drinks was beyond my expectations. Every single staff member was wonderful! Juan who took us on a snorkeling adventure was the best tour guide and my family looks forward to coming here again very soon.

Love this place. Shout out and much respect to night manager Luis who was super helpful in helping me get my phone back from the shuttle driver.

Our room had been recently renovated. Door to patio impossible to open. Multiple dining choices were overpriced for the quality and attentiveness of service. Our family are not big breakfast eaters, but we’re out of luck with only $30+ dollar per person choices.
The property doesn’t make clear what recreational amenities are included in the very costly resort fee; specifically, the catamarans sat unused most of the days, but we were told they weren’t available for booking. The included canal ride was a plus, as was the use of the bicycles.

A perfect place to relax and enjoy some R and R
The high standard of service from entrance to dining to Spa was impressive.
Enrique my Server at Gaia made my evenings so enjoyable and generously shared his immense knowledge and passion for all things Tequila. Thank you! Cant't wait to come back.

I just came back from the most amazing stay at this resort. That was my third time visiting in the last 5 years, and I literally can’t say enough about this place. Yes, the accommodation, food, and the property itself are incredible, but what really makes me come back each time are the people that work there. They make the difference. One experience in particular that stood out the most was taking the snorkeling tour with Juan. This is the third time I have done this with Juan. He makes you feel comfortable and safe, is excellent at explaining what to expect, and is extremely knowledgeable with regard to the ocean and ocean life. All these factors are imperative to having a great experience, especially when you are out in the ocean. What an amazing vacation—thank you to everyone at the Fairmont Mayakoba for all the wonderful memories that will be forever cherished!

This is a beautiful resort. Our accommodations (casita overlooking the canal) were spacious and spotless. Restaurant choices and food (with a few exceptions) was excellent. The exceptions were the breakfast buffet (very expensive, busy and crowded, with less-than-attentive service), and single meals at both Gaia and Tauro. Our first meal at Gaia was outstanding, and we received excellent service from the manager regarding the less-than-outstanding meal. Meals at Bassano, La Laguna, Fuego, and Hix were all superb, in terms of food preparation/presentation as well as service.
We also noted the presence of an above-average number of staff to maintain the property in its excellent condition.
We spent the majority of our time on the Nature Trail in the morning, then at the Adult Pool in the afternoons. It was a bit disappointing with the Adult Pool was closed for corporate functions (lots of those held here)
The Family Pool at La Laguna is great for kids.
The beach was somewhat disappointing, due to both the seaweed and the barriers which have been erected to keep it away from the beach……just not scenic. We did not spend much time there, as a result (but many other people did and appeared to be enjoying it). The sand is lovely (when it is not covered in seaweed!). The staff did a heroic job of attempting to keep the beach free of plants but this really does not seem to be easy to do.
We found the staff to be extremely and genuinely welcoming and warm.

Resort was not overly crowded, beautiful beach, excellent service.

The property was beautiful and I was extremely happy with my room, the staff and the pool options.
I was there for 4 nights. I was quite disappointed in my dinner two of the nights. I thought the food was poor. Breakfast and lunch were great for all 4 of the days. If I were to return, there would be some dinner options I would avoid.

This resort is not only a fabulous property but all of the staff were so friendly and courteous!
A big thank you to Miss Estephania E. and Miss Victoria for always going out of their way to elevate the service!
Although other resorts we have stayed in were beautiful unfortunately the food was not so great most of the time.
The Fairmont Mayakoba has excellent food and choices. The drinks are pure without all the syrup & are handcrafted. The beach is gorgeous and there was plenty of room both at the beach and the large pools. It may have been more pricey then other resorts but it was definitely worth the extra cost for the overall experience, It had a tropical authentic feel throughout and didn’t feel commercialized like so many other resorts.
I would say the only thing really lacking was maybe a few nights of live music. It would have been nice to sit in one of their beautiful lounges with one of their delicious handcrafted cocktails and listen to a duo or trio of live Spanish music.
The complimentary boat ride was a great way to see the properties in the area. Loved it!

Edgar was incredible, he took care of every need we had. Property is one of a kind, given the nature of the property and amenities, the only slight downside was the food did not fully live up to the other area of the resort. Would still return without hesitation.

Mayakoba is a unique ecological preserve with mangrove trees, lagoons, monkeys and coatis as well as pristine sandy beaches for which Cancun is famous. The service was great with many helpful staff. A peaceful sanctuary:)

Poor communication between concierge and restaurants.

Nice property, loved the atmosphere and the architecture. Service was great overall, although sometimes it felt understaffed.

We love the facility, cleanliness, and our room. The beach and the water canals were impressive. However, the food, beverage, and towel service were slow and inadequate. Overall, it was a pleasant stay but could have been excellent if the service was better.
5.0
Beautiful property. Fantastic experience. The food choices are only ok despite being expensive, but you do have access to restaurants at other resorts in Mayakoba. Don’t forget to visit the cenote and pueblito on property. All in all, one of the best resort experiences we’ve had.
4.0
The beach is just stunning . The property is very beautiful. Reaching the front desk by phone was a nightmare and the communication was disappointing. Traffic delays due to construction should be communicated to guests who are checking out that day because clearly this would impact them. Staff was polite but not always very responsible or responsive with request for dinner reservations etc. It looked like they were overwhelmed with the number of guests . If so , please don’t overbook .
