Hotel had everything we needed although amenities looked worn out and bathroom looked somewhat dirty

The Hotel is decent. The room is well equipped and is clean. The breakfast staff is very nice. I also had breakfast there and liked the options that they had. The Portuguese receptionist (Mr. Paulo) was one of the most friendly people that I've ever talked to.
What could be improved is the wifi. I was not able to get any reliable internet connection. The 4 days that I stayed there, the internet was just slow. This is hard because I was on a business trip and I needed internet access.
Another point that I didn't like, was the receptionist in the morning. The breakfast opened at 7am, and I had a meeting at 8am, so I was a bit in a rush to get breakfast. The breakfast place is not in the same building as the hotel. I arrived at the reception at 6.58am and because they only open the reception at 7am I needed to wait 2 minutes for her to tell me where the breakfast place is. Note: She was already in the reception but refused to talk to me. I don't understand why she couldn't simply tell me, also I didn't appreciate her reply. When I asked for the breakfast place her response was: "Go down the street, and look for number 99". I'm not from here, so I don't know which side does the street goes down. (The street is flat).
Also, a lot of people party and they arrived drunk at 2 or 3 am making a lot of noise. One of the nights someone was so drunk that they didn't know their room, so they knocked at every door.

Urine soaked, unhelpful, refused to refund, absolute nightmare, the reeption isn't even close to the rooms themselves! It would be laughabley bad if I hadn't thrown up from the stink of excrement in the rooms.

Very nice place with Great breakfast and all you need supermarkets, bars eg just outside. And walking distance to old town with cathedral

No check in facility upon arrival at 11pm, so the business guest for whom I booked the room was not able to check in, hence stayed somewhere else.

Personal nett & hilfsbereit. Lage top, 15 Minuten zum Dom. Ausstattung leider mangelhaft. Entspricht null den Bildern online. Im Zimmer roch es muffig... für eine Nacht ok

The staff was friendly, and the property was clean. However, the room was only slightly larger than the bed. The shower and bathroom was not private and was shared with other guests. If we had known it was a shared bathroom, we would not have booked. It felt more like a private room in a hostel, than a room in a hotel. A hotel should always have a private bathroom and shower for every room. The room itself looked nothing like the room in the photo. It was tiny and cramped and the bed was uncomfortable. We could feel the wooden slats through the mattress. I would not stay in that room again.

It's more of a hostel than a hotel - hadn't realised we'd booked a room with a shared bathroom - for the cost, you would have thought you'd get an ensuite - obviously miss-read the information as was in a hurry when making the booking

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It was crawling with bedbugs and when I explained this the man at the desk replied with “there is nothing we can do, you’ll have to sleep there” I was left with no choice but to stay as it was 10:45 at night. I checked out the following morning having stated up all night in a chair. They told me I would have a refund and I have not heard from them since. I had to spend more money on alternative accommodation. My recommendation I’d avoid it at all costs!!!

The concept of "hospitality" eludes the staff here. The front desk was a nightmare to deal with, beginning with initial check-in (both ladies at the front desk inexplicably refuse to offer a simple greeting to guests upon arrival. Just an annoyed eyebrow raise. I watched this happen 4 times). The policies and procedures are off the cuff. I called three times to confirm that I could ship a package to the hotel prior to my arrival date and was told it would be no problem as long as the guest's name was on the item. When I arrived, I learned that the hotel had refused the package which contained $1000 worth of merchandise for a business trade show, and they have yet to offer even an utterance of an apology.
Onto the rooms. Perhaps you'll be lucky enough to have a bathroom in your room, but we weren't. 1 shared shower stall for an entire floor is outrageous. This is a hostel scenario at hotel prices. The second water closet is equally problematic, and although there is soap and a sink for hand washing, the hotel refuses to stock this restroom with paper towels or any way to dry hands.
The rooms themselves smell like urinals, I assume because most men are using the in-room sinks as their personal urinal due to the shared toilet situation.
The only redeeming quality of this place is the breakfast which is quite nice. The cleaning staff are friendly as well. The front desk and management are abysmal. I would not wish this hotel on my worst enemy.

No bathroom and wc at the room. The room is super small . And construction was next door . From early morning. And how could u sell a room as a hotel with no bathroom at the room ? Is a guesthouse not a hotel . And this shared bathroom the shower at the sink stuck the water after someone else used it . So I could not have a shower in the morning in this mess . How ?

Arrived to be told I was staying round the corner 150M away. Had a taxi waiting for me outside on a one way street so this initially cost me an extra £14 to arrange all that. Found room round the corner easily but from entering the ground floor room by the front door and main street found it disappointing along with a few hairs from the previous visitor on my duvet. I had paid over the odds to get a room near the show venue but frankly I should have booked a £75 room and taken a taxi every day rather than getting what looked like a £75 room for £180. Room was noisy from 5am till usually about 1am with the outside door continually banging and people going past the door talking. Worst hotel I have stayed in for the last 4 years. Nothing wrong with the staff.

they gave away my room, then claimed a no show which was false, did NOT refund or even offer an apology, instead were very rude and abusive, yelling F u to another client who was also having a bad experience.

Not the best place to stop its more like a youth hostel. Shared bathrooms that was my fault for not reading the information, but for the cost very disappointed.

Not the best. Room was tiny and uncomfortable. Window wouldn't close and was light on blankets and sheets.

I went there for Carnaval. The breakfast is overpriced and i was in a shared bathroom room.

I booked a room with a double bed and private bathroom. However when I arrived I was given a room with two single beds and was told that what I had book was only a request when it clearly stated my reservation was for a double bed. They would not adjust my price even though the room was smaller than I had reserved.

I booked a room for Photokina at Hotel Alt Deutz City-Messe-Arena. When I came to check in, however, I was told I had been moved to Deutzer Eck, a guest-house at the other end of the block. The rooms were nothing like the photos, and it had a shared bathroom. The Wi-Fi worked extremely intermittently, and when it did work, it was slow as molasses.
I also had the privilege of paying upwards of €150 per night at a guest house that says "Only €22 per room" on the outside. Absolutely disgraceful.
I won't be staying here again, and am still wondering what I can do about basically have been bait-and-switched.

One of the best Hotels ever seen. Outstanding environment and dicorations. Excellent food quality. Perfect for vacation of four to five days with access to the bus station to the city center. I highly recommend this hotel

When we arrived at the hotel we first thought it was nice. However, upon check in, we were told to go to the guest house about 400m metres away. This was a bit annoying as you don't book a specific location to be told to stay somewhere else. When we arrived at the guest house it was still being cleaned as we were early (this was understandable). We dropped our bags and returned later on. The room was very small, had no fan, TV remote to change channels on the TV, the area was noisy and the bathroom had a faint smell of smoke - this was unexpected in a non smoking room! One other annoying thing was that the room cleaner knocked on the door at around 8:30am every morning, we gathered that he needed to clean the rooms but 8:30am was a bit early!

Stayed for one night, just passing through. Was an affordable option and for the price it was good. The room had been updated, nothing fancy however. The bathroom is older, but clean. There is no lift, and the wifi is very slow, otherwise no complaints. The staff were helpful and it's an easy walk over the river to the city. Don't expect modern and amazing, it's small and has "old" charm.

Hotel exceeded our expectations and the staff was excellent and truly cared about our welfare.

Check-in is midway up Graf-Gessler Str with a minimal turnout for unloading bags. You check in here, unload your bags and the lady walks you and your bags along the sidewalk around the block to what appears to be the Deutsche Eck hotel (corner of Neuhoeffer Str and Deutzer Freiheit). Carry bags through the empty bar, past breakfast room and then up steep spiraling stairwell. Rooms are small. No kidding, the door to our room only opens halfway, because it hits the foot of the bed. One large bathroom with shower and one closet-sized toilet/sink room shared by about four rooms on this floor. Then walk back to the car and drive to their recommended parking in Koeln Arena parking at intersection of Opladener Str and Justinian Str (3-5 minutes away). I thought the experience was interesting and adventurous. My wife hated it. You could hear some reveling in the bar below later that night, and she didn't like going out into the hallway to the bathroom at night with the stairwell open to all the revelers so close below. Traffic and one-way streets didn't make it easy getting between parking and the hotel. Checkout was more convenient at the bar/breakfast area. Lots of shops and eateries along Deutzer Freihheit.
