When we arrived we were informed that we were 15mins early. That was not a nice welcome. We were directed to the lounge until a room was available. We observed room. Problems on the next day

Food was great. Radiator in room didn’t give out much heat so was a bit cold

Lower level rooms are small and at 5am when the kitchen staff come in you can hear every footstep from above. If you stay, make sure to request an upper room as you wont get much of a sleep in otherwise. Hotel is dated but its not bad value for money over alm as the breakfast was nice and the staff were lovely.

On arrival I was told breakfast was 8 until 10, the room was poorly decorated with the wallpaper coming off the walls and the bathroom had a disabled shower, no bath. The noise level was high with the floorboards outside the room, creeking with everyone that walked on them. The bar closed at 12 with no warning or asking for last orders, when I went for breakfast at 940, the hot buffet was poor no bacon or sausage or eggs, my partner spoke to a waiter who said he would come and tell us when the food was ready, we hear him ask in the kitchen for bacon and sausage at 1010, the staff sat at a table next to us to eat their breakfast-with freshly cooked eggs amongst their choice, no one spoke to us. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience.

Overall was good. Nearest to hindu temple. Room was clean and spacious for two people. Breakfast was amazing. Dinner menue has lots of options.Bar has good options for drinks. Hotel carpet was not clean, old fashion structures our room was 137 which was last at the building so didn't appreciate that but overall value for money.

Comfortable and spacious lounge and food areas. Cleanliness good. Nice selection for self-service breakfast. Helpful staff.
I would stay again but not in the rooms below ground level as there were constant footsteps overhead from early morning to late at night. Also the doors are close together and there was a considerable amount of knocking on the door late at night from celebrating rugby players but I m sure this wouldn't be a regular occurrence.

Just a one night stay in Carmarthen as I was working nearby. This hotel was recommended by someone who lived nearby but did say that it was the best of a bad bunch.
The hotel looks rough from the front and even worse from behind! Check-in was ok, the room was small, tiny TV, no tea/coffee making facilities and no bottled water.
I went for breakfast only for a lady to grunt 'Room number' and that was as far as it got, the breakfast was the best part of the stay though.
When I went to leave my room key in the express check out box, a women shouted 'don't move, stay there!' I thought she was joking but she went on to say 'How are you paying for your rooms?' to which I replied they are already paid for. She asked for our room numbers and went onto say that my room was paid for but my colleagues wasn't. I said that wasn't possible as I'd paid for both rooms in one go and not individually. After about 15 minutes and me showing her emails from hotels.com and my credit card number and also explaining that we pay hotels.com and they pay the hotel she finally let us leave.
If I was in Carmarthen again I'd buy myself a tent and pitch it in a field as it would be 100% better than staying in the Ivy Bush Hotel again!!

Satisfactory stay. A little irritated that my card key stopped working twice and I had to trek back to reception to get it recharged.

a night away, we had room 98 this had black damp that you could smell thedamp was going across the ceiling probably from the steam from the kettle and the bathroom extractor being switched off, also the grouting of the tiles was filthy ,not sure the effort has gone into cleaning this area of the bathroom around the bath and shower, location really good

Room was a little tired, however the staff are a credit to the hotel, from Rhiann at reception on arrival together with the bar and restaurant staff. Food selection was excellent in terms of quality and portion size. Well situated for walking into the town centre and definitely a hotel we would stay at again.
