Acadia Oceanfront 4Bdm 4Bth Private Home on Duck Cove, Game Room Amazing Sunsets
About this house rental
Nestled in Southwest Harbor, this charming house for R 10,898 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Come visit Acadia and stay at our fabulous oceanfront retreat. We are located in Tremont, 5 minutes from Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. Enjoy Acadia while avoiding the crowds in Bar Harbor! The "quiet side" of MDI has some of Acadia's best hiking, biking, paddling and swimming. Southwest Harbor is a lively little town with some of the islands finest restaurants, galleries and shops as well as a true working waterfront where you can enjoy lobster cruises, sunset sails or take a ferry to one of the neighboring islands. The western areas of Acadia National Park (Echo Lake Beech, Long Pond and dozens of the best hikes and beach trails) are just 10 minutes away and Bar Harbor and the park loop road are 25 minutes drive. Or if you just want a peaceful retreat, you can work remotely with a sparkling view out your window. Explore the shore on a leisurely stroll. Kayak in the peaceful cove, or paddle further out to the open ocean on an adventurous whim. Then return to your private hideaway. There’s plenty to do inside, as well, with ping pong, games, puzzles, and a lovely screened-in porch that maximizes that spectacular view in comfort. Idyllic. Welcome to our Maine waterfront rental, Blue Heron Tide. It is designed to provide a variety of common areas for being together while ensuring that, if one party wants to read while another plays ping pong, you have enough privacy — and quiet — to do both simultaneously. Two bedrooms are on the entry floor, one with a double and another with a set of twins. The living room features wall-to-wall windows to maximize the view, and includes a game table and plenty of comfortable seating. The dining room generously seats eight and has ready access to the screened-in porch. This is a 4-bedroom, 4-bath cottage directly on the ocean on Acadia’s Quiet Side, where you can enjoy all of the recreational opportunities that Acadia has to offer without having to sleep in the noise and bustle of it. The cottage is furnished with a nice mix of antiques and decorative touches unique to the area, while providing all of the comforts of home in a fully equipped kitchen, large dining area, full living room with bonus game table, screened-in porch, and separate recreational room and additional reading nook in addition to the bedrooms and baths. Outdoor spaces feature an oceanside patio with gas grille and beautiful view out to the cove and Blue Hill Bay beyond. And, of course, you have direct access to your own private stretch of Maine shore. Two bedrooms are on the entry floor, one with a double and another with a set of twins. The living room features wall-to-wall windows to maximize the view, and includes a game table and plenty of comfortable seating. The dining room generously seats eight and has ready access to the screened-in porch. On the second floor there are two additional bedrooms, the master, with a queen bed and separate sitting room, and a second queen bedroom adjacent to a reading nook. Each bedroom has its own private, full bath. The upstairs bedrooms enjoy the same spectacular view as the living and dining rooms. There is also a third level of living space on the ground floor, with a game room and comfortable seating area — perfect for separate recreation or quiet time. A ping pong table is also included, for entertainment on rainy days or a friendly tournament regardless of the weather.

Our home on Duck Cove was very cozy. It was spacious and a great place to gather in the evenings. Loved having four bathrooms. The weather was not very accommodating, but Mother Nature is the boss. We were in close proximity to most of the places we wanted to go.I would probably go a week earlier, next time as a good deal of places were closed for the season already. I also would have flown out of Portland and rented the car from there. The downfall with the Bangor airport is the plane leaves at 5:30 in the morning and you need to stay at a Bangor hotel the night before.Maine is a beautiful state!

Perfect for relaxing. Well kept and equipped. Loved the evening cocktails on the back overlooking the water and catching the sunset. Only wished we did less tourist stuff and hung out here.

House is definitely on the quite side of the island! Lovely views of the harbor, well equipped kitchen, we were able to relax and enjoy the family.

Between the hiking and white water rafting, my friends and I were able to rest at this amazing dwelling not far from Bar Harbor. We were all extremely comfortable, able to spread out and be alone while also having plenty of communal space to further hangout if we wanted. The view of the water from the living room is breath taking, particularly at sunset. Highly recommend for anyone but especially those who with slightly bigger families.

The house was very spacious for our group of 4 adults and 4 tweens with an awesome view of the cove! I loved the breeze & view from the bedroom near the reading nook. The kids had a ton of fun finding shells at low tide and playing ping pong in the game room. We cooked a few meals and the house had some spices & cookware that we used, was well stocked with paper goods & cleaning supplies. The location was perfect, close to SW harbor, Echo beach, hiking trails & 30 minutes to Bar Harbor and the other side of Acadia.
There are a few things to note, I had to reach out to the new Owners about the code to get in and the Wifi info. There is no information book about the house; where does the garbage go, cleaning/laundry expectations before we leave, house emergency info. The towels are very thin and all of the shower curtains are moldy. With the amount we paid to rent the house for a week, these things should’ve been taken care of, in our opinion. I know they just bought the house recently, so hopefully they will have some time during the off season to remedy a few of these things. Luckily, the owner was pretty responsive when we had a question.
Otherwise, we absolutely loved visiting Acadia and hope to visit again someday soon!

We had a fun time with family as we explored Mount Desert Island. Great layout for 4 adults and 4 kids, well stocked kitchen, and only 30 min to Acadia. Minutes from the quaint Southwest Harbor town. Ping Pong table was a big hit!

Beautiful cove views, more limited to open ocean and islands, nice screened porch, steps to bay, quiet location, considerate host, adequate kitchen and furnishings, fun game basement, good books and games, easy parking, close to Acadia’s quiet side. Would recommend and rent again.

This home checked all the boxes for us - 4 roomy bedrooms with plenty of space to spread out and in a quiet area with beautiful views of Duck Cove. We were about a half hour from Acadia and Bar Harbor for a few day trips. We enjoyed our time there!

Property was perfect for us, enough bedrooms and bathrooms for 4 adults and 4 teenagers (16-19). It was about a 25/30 minute drive to Acadia trails and Bar Harbor. There were some supplies already in the house, but the owner was not able to tell me exactly what. Lots of spices which was nice as we cooked 2 of the 3 nights. Owner was quick to respond, but I had to reach out about check-in and check-out first. The owner said he was working on an information book for the house, which will help with questions, I think. Also, some pictures need to be updated, especially the downstairs (different type of couch) and there were no chairs on the lawn to sit in, which would have been nice. Overall, a great house for our first visit to Acadia!

This house near Acadia Park was a great choice for our family of 5. We loved the spaciousness and cleanliness of the house, which had 3.5 bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen. After checking in we noticed that there was no water in the taps, we only managed to contact the host the next morning and he took care of the problem. We recommend this place to anyone looking for a convenient retreat.

Enjoyed our stay at this house! Great location to Acadia National Park for daily hiking. We stayed mid-OCT, so several restaurants and other tourist things like boating had closed for the season , but found enough to enjoy. Enjoyed ping pong & games in the house.

We really enjoyed our stay. We had three toddlers and five adults with us and the house was plenty big enough for everyone to feel like they had their own space. The kids enjoyed all the games that were available and of course they loved being down by the water. The men enjoyed drinks on the porch with the fantastic view of the the sunset. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals. The drive to the park wasn’t too bad. It did seem like a long way at the end of the day, but that is because we had tired babies with us. The beds were not the most comfortable, but hey, you can’t always have it all. We would definitely stay again.

Comfortable house with all the necessities. Beautiful view of the water. Quiet street with almost no traffic. Listen to the seagulls and (occasionally) coyotes at night. Helpful and friendly owner. There were only 4 of us, but it can comfortably handle up to 8. Highly recommend!

We love staying at the Blue Heron Tide. The house has everything: the view, the rooms, the ping pong, the beach- all in a well maintained, beautiful home.

Blue Heron Tide cottage was the perfect place to stay for my family- the setting (right on the water, amazing sunsets), the size of the cottage and the location on the island (quiet)- were all just right. The cottage was clean and there were very thoughtful details provided for us, like a book of recommendations and information, a sand shovel for my daughters to use, and any kind of kitchen tool we could have possibly needed.
This cottage helped my family have a wonderful vacation and make many memories.
Thank you Joy and Peter!

Our intergenerational family had a lovely time at this beautiful home. The home itself was on a stunning cove and was close to southwest harbor which had a lot to offer. Will definitely try to visit again!

We loved the location and spacious house. The views were beautiful and we enjoyed it very much.
I wish the bathrooms and kitchen surfaces and table had been cleaned a little better. (spider web on the counter, ketchup on the table and bathroom sinks were messy)

This was the perfect home for our stay together. The location on the quiet side of MDI was so nice and relaxing. The home allowed us to spread out for alone time and come together for food and games. We loved this home. Joy even reached out to check on us after we’d gotten settled. I recommend this home to anyone!
