The Grand Mayan is a beautiful resort filled with helpful, gracious staff. Do not be intimidated by the massive size of this resort. From the initial trolly to check-in it will make things feel very far apart when arriving at your destination any time of the day. Explore the walking paths, (mostly everything is pretty walkable). The two-bedroom unit is spacious, clean, and appropriately updated. The jungle setting is different than our usual beachfront experience. Pools and beach fronts were a close walk away. The restaurants are great and plentiful. In the off-season, the resort never feels over-crowded. Their main pool (adjacent to the beach) is rumored to be the largest pool in Mexico. We preferred the smaller, winding pool away from the main. We enjoyed the whole experience more than anticipated.
