We stayed in hotels around the NC500 and this was the only B&B but it was better than most of the hotels.

Top quality!

The location was as good as you could have hoped for - the accommodation overlooked the beach and had extensive views of the bay. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The breakfast menu was varied and cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. Host was welcoming and happy to give local information.

It would be unfair to pick holes! Nothing obvious, at all.

The Marine was a great choice for us - superb location, great hosts and a very comfortable stay.

The location was superb. It had the most amazing views of the beach and over to Orkney. The accommodation itself was very good and our host was kind and attentive.

Excellent welcome, wonderful place, fantastic views.

I was greeted with a very warm welcome and the landlady was very accommodating despite my travel delays, the premises are excellent with a very comfortable room and amazing dining room and conservatory that looks out across the beach and artic sea. I was able to watch the the Orkney ferry depart each morning whilst enjoy a most excellent breakfast.

I have absolutely nothing to complain about except maybe the amount of potholes in the streets of Thurso town, although the council did appear to be in the process of dealing with the issue with road repairs in progress.

Excellent!

Overall the accommodation was of a high standard. The decor was very tasteful and rooms were comfortable. The little lounge has stunning views right across the sea to Orkney. As a host Karen was most helpful. The breakfast was delicious.

The only issue I have is nothing to do with The Marine is the excessive amount of emails Booking.com .

Stunning views, gorgeous property and an excellent host. Karen was simply an outstanding host with an amazing ability to make us feel welcome. I truly appreciate her going above and beyond. She helped us with sightseeing, local restaurants and anything that we could possibly think of. Her amazing personality made the stay that little extra special. I can’t recommend enough

Definitely The Place to stay in Thurso

The marine is beautifully cared for with excellent facilities and very comfortable and well appointed rooms. Karen our host was very friendly and kind. Unfortunately due to an I’ll pet at home we had to cut our visit short and didn’t get to stay as long as we would have liked, but we would chose the Marine again without hesitation.

Great B&B with amazing views and delicious breakfast

Excellent location and stunning views from the lounge. Amazing breakfast with plenty to choose from. I would recommend the pancakes ! The rooms were spacious and very confortable with all the comodities you may need.

Nothing was too much trouble to make you feel very much at home from home!

Karen and Richie made us feel very welcome during our 4 night stay. Breakfasts were excellent with locally sourced quality products. Little touches like home made shortbreads added to the general feeling of making our stay enjoyable, We had room 1 with sea views but guests in the other rooms had access to the balcony room looking across the Bay. I would recommend it as base to explore northern Scotland including taking the day tour to the Orkney's from John O Groats. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at the marine and hope to stay there again next year.

I would have to be a real knit picker. People make for an enjoyable stay and they don't come much better than Karen and Ritchie

Home away from home - fall asleep to the sound of lapping waves

The conservatory looking onto the beach was a beautiful, homely space. There were lots of things to pass the time with such as relaxing games, books and local info leaflets. Karen was so helpful - she offered anything to make our stay more comfortable. We were able to eat at our leisure in the dining room too. Bedroom and ensuite were spotless and stylish. Thanks for a very worthwhile stay!

Exceptional B&B

Loved the location. Loved the view. Loved the decor. Loved all the furniture . Loved the breakfast. A lot off thought has been put into the rooms from a sewing kit to a travel plug excellent.

Dont be put off by the front off the building once you are inside it is absolutely fantastic
