It's a beautiful home with a absolutely stunning view of the hills and forest. So quiet and calming. Very comfy bed, high pressure shower which is not very common and everything you need for a getaway. More than enough kitchen utensils, great small appliances and crockery to make anything you need. Fireplace and gas heater all check. Really enjoyed our stay.

Cosy, private and overall best value for money getaway I've been on in ages. Bonus is they allow you take your fur babies on holiday with you 😁😁👌

We loved the attention to detail: welcome rusks, fruit and Wedgwood nougat. The inverter, gas appliances and wifi made our stay comfortable and peaceful.
A home away from home. Mark and Lee made us feel comfortable and welcome at Dashy Cottage. The amenities were good. Having the inverter made Loadshedding a breeze. The peace and proximity to some Midlands Meander eateries made our stay memorable. We highly recommend Dashy cottage with all its thoughtful touches.

The location / setting was sublime and the facilities superb.
Despite a heavy loadshedding schedule, the invertor worked very well and we were never left in the dark.
The technology (smart TV etc.) was somewhat challenging - better instructions may help, but the host was very responsive when we reached out for assistance.

Lovely little cottage with wonderful views and a helpful host. Would definitely recommend it as a great option in the Curry's post area.
We missed the second sign so got a little lost but Mark was on the end of a call to set us right.

Beautiful views
Was not doggy friendly as owners dogs bit mine and my doggy ran away. Due to heavy rain which was not the owners fault, the place smelled musty and the drainage on the patio with braai was non-existent so unusable and we were forced to stay indoors. The 2nd loft bedroom has a very steep staircase so the one guest had to sleep on the couch. The kitchen only had one small basin and a 2 plate stove. The unit has a smart tv but with limited data. Unit was not cleaned once during our whole stay so we had to live in a very small living area with mud.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in conpounded by the views.. High quality room (with outside shower), and high quality service. Also, they are one of few hotels that allow guests to bring their fur babies along.

What a fantastic spot Dashy cottage is! Hosts are wonderfully helpful and welcoming, the cottage has stunning views and is beautifully furnished. Very comfortable stay, close to some lovely meander spots.
They had plenty of small touches to really add a level to the stay.
Super quiet, you can sit and enjoy the sounds of nature.
Towels and linen are great quality. Shower has great water pressure and hot water is almost instant. Mattress is medium and comfortable.
It is equipped for self-catering needs, fridge, cutlery, crockery, glassware, pots, pans, etc.
Battery back ups mean you barely notice loadshedding.
Note there is a fair-usage interest policy of 5GB per day, which you will be charged for exceeding.
Could do with a proper oven. It has a microwave combi-oven, a 2-plate gas hob and 2 braai facilities (one covered and one uncovered), which in fine weather is great for preparing a lekker meaty meal, but if the weather is bad and you had planned on braaing or grilling meat from the brilliant local butchers, then it is a bit difficult. When it rains, the water pours into the covered braai on the veranda, so you ultimately have to use the microwave combi-oven.
The place was primarily very clean, but we did discover quite a bit of dog hair in the throws on the couch and other spots. Wasn't a problem for us, but if you have an allergy to dog hair you might want to be wary.
WiFi can be unreliable (not unexpected for the remoteness of the area though).

Far Away Place feels exactly like the name says, far far away... and yet it's around the corner from Howick and Pietermaritzburg. Easy drive and then suddenly you're far far away... Spectacular views!
