I feel like we were being watched by cameras. We had a great time, until the homeowner said we left it dirty. We cleaned all week and left it better than we found it.

The location of this property was wonderful. We walked almost everywhere. The beach, Britts Doughnuts, the book store. The Celtic Creamery was amazing and less than 5 min walk. We really enjoyed our stay. Corey was great about communicating. Thank you Corey!!

Had a wonderful vacation. Wish the decks were clean and the back yard was clean. Fence was broken but rain had been terrible…probably had some effect on stability. Wonderful owner!

Great location. Within walking distance to many restaurants, the beach and attractions. Loved being able to take my fur babies and the fenced in backyard was wonderful.

Property was a short walk (a couple blocks) from boardwalk, downtown, and beach. Room enough for our family of six and dog.

Had a wonderful week, house is within walking distance to beach, boardwalk and restaurants. Pet friendly, fenced in backyard for the pup. Very cute house, owner was great, very responsive, easy check in/check out. Highly recommend staying here. We will be back!

I was going to be kind in my review but now that the host is trying to get us to pay for a cleaning that this house hasn't seen in years, I'll just be truthful. (Word of advice to the host: most people would be more than happy to pay a cleaning fee than be expected to clean a house top to bottom at the end of a vacation. And if you actually expect people to clean your "private residence", you might want to say that instead of writing snide comments on a piece of paper and hope they understand what is implied. We just thought you were being cranky.) The house sits directly next to an abandoned boarded up house and across the street from low-income, shabby apartments, making it less than ideal for small children to be outside unaccompanied, especially after dark (like during the week of July 4th). The house is in poor condition. From basic fixes (shower and closet doors off-track) to needing more extensive repairs (water damage throughout the house, sliding back door that doesn't seal or lock, shower fixtures in poor working order). The beds are old and uncomfortable. The house is full of cobwebs and pet hair and the carpets are stained (air fresheners don't cover up stink). We had to roll up the rug in the kitchen because whatever was in it was triggering allergies. We tried to wash the "clean" bed sheets that were full of pet hair but then discovered the washer didn't work consistently, so got one load to actually wash, rinse, and drain and gave up on trying to wash anything else. We knew the washer worked at some point because of the load that was left to dry stuck to the sides of the washer. Of course that went right along with the dried coffee grounds left in the coffee maker. We were going to try to vacuum but the duct tape on the canister did not suggest we would have any better luck than with the washer, so we left it alone. The front and back porch were not inviting, with furniture full of dead bug's, cobwebs and just dirty. The back yard, being a pet friendly place, is not someplace you can let the kids run around in - we were greeted with evidence of the previous pets' as we were doing our first walkthrough. The grill is about rusted out, so use with caution. Overall, it was a roof over our heads when it was raining and walking distance to the beach.

I was there less than an hour. There is no cleaning crew? There was a huge gross stain on the comforter...I messaged owner he said to just throw it in the washer. He was incredibly incredibly rude and hostile. "Yard" is a mess full of leaves amd debris.
I got a refund and left immediatley.
Needs a lot of work. Needs to be properly cleaned. The leave a note telling you to clean it before you leave. Unacceptable.
And Im sure that the owner is going to respond with some long drawn out explanation (as on some other reviews) saying it was somehow my problem. He is incredibly rude. He spoke so harshly to me I called the police because I was worried he was going to say I damaged sometjing in the house and refuse to give me a refund.

Enjoyable and fun family cottage near beach and boardwalk!
Our family had a wonderful time during our stay at this cottage near the beach and boardwalk! Overall, the home was very comfortable and welcoming. We made a lot of great memories here, and I'm very thankful for the opportunity that it provided us (very affordable, spacious, three bathrooms, and within walking distance to many area attractions in Carolina Beach). We all had enough privacy and plenty of space for two adults and three children to enjoy meals and family time together. We enjoyed walking to the beach at night to catch ghost crabs! Very close to the boardwalk and entertainment.
My family and I had some concerns with the behaviors of other individuals that we had witnessed in the neighborhood, but thankful for the police presence. I also was hoping to enjoy more time on the front and back porch, but hopefully with some more cleaning and basic updates (light switch with lights on back porch) those areas will be more suitable and accessible for the next family stay. We had to turn up the heat on the water heater a little, and I had to learn how to sign up for ROKU to be able to watch TV. But, I was thankful that the owner was only a text or phone call away to help us out!
I would stay here again, and would recommend it for other families as well. It's a very nice cottage near a really fun beach / boardwalk / state park area. We will treasure the memories and our time here!

This cottage is ideally located within walking distance to the beach! Too bad the surrounding homes/neighborhood are shabby and rundown. Across the street from the cottage sits a large building with an ever-changing variety of occupants. The cottage next door looks abandoned but is somehow occupied. We couldn't use the front porch or back deck at our cottage because they were dirty and the furniture was mildewed. The yard was even worse. The interior of the cottage has some safety concerns. Old electrical outlets exposing taped up wires and a back sliding glass door that is so warped/old you can barely open it. Overall cleanliness was a huge disappointment, as were the Palmetto bugs! We managed to make the most of our situation and literally left the place cleaner than when we found it. Despite our efforts, half our "Damage Deposit" was withheld because we didn't follow all the clean up instructions that were supposedly left on the kitchen table.

The location of this quaint cottage makes it easy to walk to so much that Carolina Beach has to offer! The beach, the boardwalk, multiple restaurants, Lake Park (farmer's market and Sunday movies). There is no cleaning fee here so one must keep in mind no two people have the same version of clean. With the area experiencing a hurricane last fall and storms before we arrived, some debris was expected. Thanks to the owners for sharing their property, we had a great time at Carolina Beach!

Not quite as described on website/ a/c cant keep it cool
The overall location of house in relation to beach was good and seemed like a good neighborhood. Upon arrival we were a little disappointed that there aren't exactly 3 bedrooms as described on the website. 2 nice bedrooms but the third one you have to pass through one of the other bedrooms to get to and there is no light or fan in the third bedroom. Check in process was easy we arrived on a Saturday afternoon to a cool house but by Sunday after noon we were up to 81 degrees inside the house. We called the number provided and basically was told it was Sunday ( Fathers Day) and he wasn't really concerned about the ac( his words were well i can pull a service tech out of my hat ) he would get someone out on Monday by lunch. I understand it was Sunday and a holiday but I would think for the money you pay they would be able to have someone check even on a weekend or holiday. Tech arrived around 1:00-1;30 added refrigerant and said he would be back by later to check upon returning was told its working and would take a couple hours to cool down keep blinds clodsed it would help 3 hours later temp is climbing not cooling down (no one has been inside since tech left blinds closed, door closed ) called manager again wasz told he hasnt had any complaints with ac until us took picture of temp on thermostat and sent to him, he sent ac repair back out we were then told its doing all it can do he had a window unit he could leave to help out , he went out to check outside unit but never came back in with window unit. Temp at 11;30 at night was still 80-81 degrees the rest of our stay. I will definately not stay here again and i would recommend to anyone else to make sure and ask about the a/c .

Not As Described
The location of this beach house worked great for our family. However, upon arrival the refrigerator did not work, it took 2 replacements, three days and loss of food before this was resolved. Front porch, back yard and its furniture were so unkept it was unusable. There were basic up keep and safety issues: 2 units on the stove not working, hallway smoke detector not working, ceiling fan extremely wobbly where it was unusable, toilet not secured properly to the floor, sliding glass door not able to be locked, floor coverings dirty and bath linen severely over used and stale. During cooking supper the sink / garbage disposal clogged and overflowed onto the kitchen floor. This beach house is in a good location and could be really cute however, it needs a good cleaning inside and out and a lot of improvement in basic up keep / maintenance to meet the website description.

Cute cozy beach cottage within walking distance to the beach, boardwalk, shops, restaurants and bars
I spent over two weeks here and loved it. I look forward to coming back. The cottage is clean and has everything one needs for cooking, entertaining and relaxing. All of the neighbors were friendly and helpful. I parked my car when I arrived and was able to walk everywhere during my stay. The only reason I rated this cottage 4 stars instead of 5 is because the back deck and yard were somewhat disappointing as they needed a good cleaning and mowing/raking,

Wonderful Owner and Great Place for a Dog
My family and I just stayed during the 4th of July week and it was a great location! We were close to everything and it was perfect for my elderly dog. Corey is great to work with and we were very happy with the house! The rain shower in the master bedroom was really relaxing and we had the perfect amount of space. Would definitely stay here again!

Charming and convenient
If you are looking for a conveniently located cottage, look no further and press the reserve button. This cute cottage centrally located is exactly what you are looking for.
Close to Sea Merchant grocery store, restaurants, bars, Coffie shops, the boardwalk and the beach just a few blocks away.
This cottage features a fenced in backyard which was perfect for our dog. The neighbors are great and very hospitable, greeting us at each passing.
The house was more than adequately furnished, very practical for our family of five and ample street-side parking for three vehicles.
Would recommend this to anyone looking for practical convenience and a grateful owner.

Overall Happy
Ok, so most of this is going to be in response to that bad review that was left before mine. We showed up when they were cleaning up after you. The place was trashed. They cleaned all day. There was still a very bad smell of urine in the second large bedroom rug. We were tempted to pull it up and throw it outside & were worried we might be blamed. There were no new pots & pans that I saw, but we had everything we needed to cook most of our meals there. It was clear to me that I needed to clean & launder the linens before I left. We loved this little cottage, the setup of the extra rooms was a little awkward but they seemed to do the best to get the most out of what they had to work with. Yes, the master bath could use a door. My husband & I aren't that close, lol. The back deck and yard needs lighting & a days worth of cleaning. The sunroom could use AC. It was a little to hot in August to use it as a bedroom. Also could have used TVs in all the bedrooms so the kids weren't hogging the livingroom TV at night. Overall we did love it, the location was perfect and the owner was friendly.

Don't Do It!
I was excited to find a reasonably priced rental with a fenced backyard so that I could let the dogs out in the morning w/o having to leash and walk them. I was disappointed to find the only access to the backyard was through the other two bedrooms (they are connected, you can only reach the 3rd bedroom by going through the second and through both to reach the backyard) and as we were in the 1st bedroom I found myself having to get up and walk the dogs anyway. Also, there are no doors between the bedroom and bathroom in the main master, so no privacy on the toilet, and no shower curtain or door on the shower either. On arrival the interior seemed fairly clean other than the carpets looked a bit dirty and the living room furniture was old and didn’t look so clean either. The front and back decks, however, were covered in debris which we swept, half of the backyard was covered in leaves, which I raked, and the backyard patio furniture was so covered in dirt and mold it took me an hour to clean it. Also, there are no outdoor lights out back. The oven and grill were so dirty the grill wouldn’t heat properly and the oven gave off a burning smell. There were no clean pans for cooking so we bought some new ones which we left there. They did provide some T.P., paper towels, and cleaning supplies but here is why:
Although linens are provided, the renters are expected to launder them and make the beds upon leaving, as well as clean the entire house! I was unaware of this as the “contract” he sent me was simply a letter which said to “leave the place the way you found it.” I assumed the owners or a professional cleaning company came in and did that, so for all I know, the prior renters may or may not have washed the sheets I slept on! What are the chances that everyone who stays there gets up early to launder all of the used linens and towels before they check out by 10:00? Upon leaving we left the dirty linens and towels in piles, vacuumed thoroughly, removed all trash, and left. I accidentally left a few pizza boxes and we forgot to put the dog waste bag in the trash can out front.
I was shocked to get an email from the owner claiming we left such a mess he would not refund our deposit. He claimed we left trash, that our dogs peed in the house and broke some blinds, all untrue. We tried to call and talk to him but he wouldn't answer our emails or his phone. We even filed a complaint with the BBB which he has also refused to respond to.

adequate but needs TLC
Overall it was ok for the price. A bit misleading being the "third bedroom was a day bed in the second bedroom. Had a bit of an issue with with the backyard not being mowed and the sliding glass door being too hard for my wife to open. The neighborhood was nice and very conveniently located. I struggled with mentioning this but it bears to mention that we reported an issue with insects and was told that someone would come and take care of it but that never happened. Corey was a nice guy and helpful over the phone. I am soory to say that this property needs some TLC and has potential but as is I would not recommend.

Great Experience
The cottage is exactly what my family was looking for. We were able to take our two young children and dog down with us and everyone had a blast. It is not far from the beach and the house was child friendly so we could relax when we were just hanging out. We took the kids to the aquarium and they really enjoyed it. Will plan on going again.

Great Location
The cottage is in a great location, we loved that we were able to walk to the beach and the boardwalk, without the noise of being directly on the beach. The cottage is located on a quiet street, however you can hear the music from the boardwalk in the distance. The place was very tidy and we enjoyed being able to bring our 3 dogs on vacation with us. The color of the cottage is very cute and the inside has a nice beach theme. We really liked the fact that we didn't have to pack any linens or towels. We were also happy that we could bring our own boat with space to park it. The one suggestion I would make is to install some sort of lighting for the back yard. I have a black Yorkie puppy and it was very difficult to see her in the yard at night. It's very dark and someone could get hurt on the tree roots.
We really enjoyed The Raggae Hut and Britt's Donuts. My daughter and I also enjoyed going to the zoo not too far away. We took the ferry from Ft Fisher over to Southport and spent a day walking around historic Wilmington. We even took our own boat from Carolina Beach to Oak Island; loved seeing the dolphins within feet of the boat.
