The walk score of 90 says it all. Just a few steps to the crashing waves and marine life of Monterey Bay. A few more steps and you’re at Cannery Row with a fantastic array of shops and restaurants. Or head up Lighthouse Avenue for live jazz, a farmers market, the Pacific Grove library, John Steinbeck’s summer cottage. Of course, get in your car and the beauty and history of this area will astound you.The house is also astounding: wonderful views, stacks and stacks of fluffy white towels, cozy gas fireplace, comfortable beds (well, the queen was too soft), well-stocked kitchen, and more paper goods and amenities than we have ever had supplied in a rental. Good job Sanctuary Vacation Rentals

We loved the house and location. The view was breathtaking and we were within walking distance of lovers point and cannery row. However there were many major things wrong with the house that needed fixing: broken garage door opener, broken blinds cutting off view, windows that didn’t open or close easily or at all, terribly uncomfortable bed, front door lock mismatched, etc. Sanctuary responded to each thing until all was well.

With my company's new remote work policy, I enjoyed several months at 3096 Sanctuary by the bay. The location is great, being just moments to the Rec trail, stores and restaurants. Wifi was perfect for all those zoom calls, made much more enjoyable with ocean views. You won't want to leave!

We liked the location, just 1/2 block off the beach with great views. The staff was very helpful and quickly available to address our issues. The dryer is unbalanced and needs attention. The oven desperately needs to be calibrated. There needs to be more water and juice glasses, as there are very few. The most pressing need is the balconies that are covered with bird droppings. This is very disgusting and unsanitary.

We rented the property for 4 months while relocating to the area.It was the perfect location to get around. Steps to the rec trail and walking distance to the aquarium, lovers point, shopping, restaurants etc...The view was amazing!!!We enjoyed the split level as our kids and visitors are adults. As for little children the stairs are steep with a few narrow steps.The kitchen definitely needs an update but was sufficient. No microwave though. The bathrooms REALLY need updating. The showers were almost unusable. We did pay our own utilities as we were there over 30 days. The bills seemed high compared to what we paid in our much larger home but oh well!We did enjoy the property. Just highly recommend a bath remodel.

Overall the house was wonderful, the furnishings were warm and cozy with everything you could possibly need. Had coffee on the deck with "Herbert" our residential seagull! We did have issues in the downstair bedrooms with flickering lights in the chandelier and it smelled quite musty. The view and location of the house was perfect!

Stayed here with friends and had a lovely visit. The property was clean and well maintained. Our property manager responded to our questions and needs and was very helpful. We did not find the futon in the living room very comfortable as a second couch, but the rest of the accommodations were lovely and comfortable. I would certainly return to this rental. The view was fantastic and we even saw porpoises and whales with my binoculars !

We have four children (ages 2, 4, 6, and 8) plus the four adults and we had more than enough room in this beautiful home. It is equipped with everything you could ever possibly need (and even things you wouldn't think you would need). My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights, and it was just what we needed. You can't get a house much closer to Cannery Row, yet be located in a nice, relatively quiet neighborhood so near the water. The house is near perfect. It is one of two units, but at no point would I have thought that had I not seen it. Bring some binoculars so you can watch the fishing boats and sea life in the kelp from the balcony.

This house is comfortable, well equipped and ideally located with ocean views and walking distance to area amenities. We hosted a 25th anniversary reunion with 2 other couples and thoroughly enjoyed the proximity to bucket-list attractions like Big Sur, Point Lobos, the Aquarium and wine tasting rooms. Restaurants in Pacific Grove and Carmel were outstanding, as was our ability to buy the freshest seafood right on the wharf and cook it up in our home away from home. Thank you!

We had a wonderful time. The property was in a perfect location for what we wanted to do and the view was lovely. We were able to walk to the beach, aquarium, wharf, bike rental, shops. We could just go 1/2 block to the corner and see the bay and the seals. The home was very enjoyable. The bedding was comfortable and the bathrooms, showers were good. The kitchen was equiped with anything possible you might need. We cooked a wonderful Easter dinner there. Also, we were pleased to have beach chairs available to use. All in all, we thought it was great. There were seven of us and felt right at home.Thank you for a wonderful experience for our daughter, husband and three grandchildred ages 14, 12 and 9 plus us! You were great to work with.

Overall this propoerty is very nice. The location is perfect and the views of the ocean are fantastic. A few comments. The living area is not very large and would be a challenge for more than 4 people. The futon in the living area is hard, ridgid and very uncomfortable to sit on. Sleeping on this futon would be impossible. There are no ceiling fans in the property. The downstairs area is very humid and damp. It would take 12 - 14 hours for a bath towel to dry. There are no TV's in the downstairs bedrooms. The property is very clean and well managed, It could use some kitchen renovations, new furniture and carpet.

Nice Location with Beautiful view !
This home was just as described. Had great views from the living area upstairs, however carpet could use a good cleaning along with patio that is off of kitchen area looks like birds had made a mess that had been there awhile along with a few towels maybe left after house keepers tried to clean it. (Can’t control the birds but you could tell it been there awhile) With that said I would recommend this home the beds were comfy worked out very nice for the 6 of us adults! We enjoyed everyday we were there morning coffee looking out at the ocean view just wonderful.

Comfortable family stay
The property was ready the moment we arrived. Everything was in great order and the mgmt team even had an inviting bottle of wine, cheese and crackers waiting for us. The rooms were more than adequate for our family and the location was so convenient. We rarely used our car during our stay as a result. We walked along the waters edge everywhere. It was also within walking distance to downtown pacific grove. We had a few questions during our stay and he mgmt team we’re quick to respond, even after hours. Thanks again Sanctuary!!

Lovely home, great location
This is a really beautiful home in a wonderful location. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was great. I would not recommend renting it to the elderly or families with very small children due to the steep stairs.

Very good location and attractive property
We had a very nice stay at Sanctuary by the Bay. It's almost on the waterfront and very close to all amenities -- restaurants, bars, shopping, and walking paths. Rooms are large and comfortable.
We also rented the adjoining Villa by the Sea, as we had a large group.

Set up as full-time rental with labels on TV remotes and light-switches. Has garage, which we used, because parking is limited. Great place to headquarter from. We'd stay here again.

Perfect spot in Pacific Grove
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in Pacific Grove. The location couldn't have been better for walking to coffee, restaurants, the beach and entertainment. It is truly steps away from the Aquarium, and the view of the ocean is lovely. We especially enjoyed visiting the seals on the beach less than a block away. We went back several times each day and loved watching them with their babies - it was magical. From the dining table, we saw otters in the ocean frolicking with their babies. The beds were extremely comfortable and the entire home was clean and welcoming. I'd highly recommend this home and wouldn't hesitate to return here.

Great house, great location!
This was my first VRBO experience and it exceeded my expectation. The Management company for this property runs a well oiled machine. The house was stocked with everything needed like a hotel. The location of the house cannot be beat! Walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants, but did not expect to be walking distance to Cannery Row in Monterey. Will definitely book it again

Sanctuary by the Bay exceeded our expectations - beautiful touches throughout that made it very welcoming and comfortable. Fun balcony overlooking the ocean, which is a few steps away. Kitchen well stocked, beds comfortable, grandchildren enchanted - and we could walk to the Aquarium! And when we left our iPad at the place by mistake, they carefully wrapped and fed-exed it to us - thank you!!

Great Location...but Infested! Fleas by the Sea!
We looked forward with all the positive reviews on this property to staying here. The location is great, and easy walking distance to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. When my daughters reported seeing black specs in the house and bites overnight, I chalked it up to being at the beach the first night. After the 2nd night we found ourselves with small rows of welts and bites on the ankles, abdomen and other exposed areas of the body. We didn't have issues during the day when we are not at the home or early evening hours when we are active in the home. By 3rd evening I checked underneath the beds and around the home and was high alert for infestations. I saw a black spec that seems to disappear here or there. In the morning our entire family had additional bites and welts. The home has dark carpet and cloth sofa, so hard to see, and we didn't want to complain without proof but our welts was evidence enough and we contacted the managers.
In addition, my kiddos had their game board out we finally caught a moving black spec...it was a flea. We daughter had a flea on her arm that jumped off as well...great.
The home managers did get back to us quickly and after sending them photos of our welts and bites (of which it numbered over 100 for the four of us), and a video of the flea in action, they arranged for us to stay at another home. They also refunded us half our stay. However, the damage was done. I would have paid double for a flea free vacation as my husband and I both work and vacation time is precious. We had to pack and unpack a family of four, spend over an hour getting prescription medicines to de-flea my family, and wait hours to know where our new home may be, as well as discard our food from the fridge. The new home was fine but no longer walking distance to our destination and most importantly lacked a washer and dryer. This led us to garbage bag our belongings and bring the possible flea infested items home with us. To top it off, the new rental, which had a locked part which we had no access to, had an alarm that went off for over an hour and woke my children up very early in the morning
Overall, Infestation by the Bay was traumatic. It may be the cleanest home now after our stay, but our stay was full of fleas by the sea. Our suitcases are still sitting in the garage with flea spray. Once again, location is great, management was responsive and fair, but our stay was 😭BLEH!

Family reunion on the west coast.
This was our third VBRO in the Monterey area and by far the best to date. The views from the common areas are as advertised in the property description, stunning views of the bay and beyond. We love to cook and the kitchen was out fitted with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms accommodations and linens were adequate for all. We prepared a meal for 7 adults and one child each evening and dined looking out at the bay. After dinner we walked down to Cannery Row and indulged in Ghirardelli each evening. The property is close enough to the walking path to allow easy access to the attractions of Cannery Row and yet far enough away to afford quiet when you want to retire. We loved it and would return again without hesitation.

Relaxing
This property was a great fit for our family of 5. The decor was both tasteful and peaceful in nature and nothing could beat having the French doors open to listen to the waves.
I am an artist and I would recommend this home and area to anyone not only to people who work in creative fields, but anyone who needs some visual inspiration.
We will forever think of this as the "orchid" house and hope to return to this restful place. Thank you for the charming stay.
NB: My husband and I had to do some work while on the visit and we appreciated the solid wifi.

Great place near the ocean
This was the perfect girls getaway. The home is beautifully decorated and very clean. Kitchen and bath linens were new and of high quality and 4 cozy bathrobes waited for us in the closets. Beds were comfortable. We liked that there was a bathroom downstairs for the 2 bedrooms, a master bathroom upstairs, and a half bath close to the living room. The kitchen was well stocked with very nice appliances, although we only used it for breakfast toast and coffee.
The ocean was spectacular, and the Monterey aquarium and Cannery Row is but a 5-10 minute walk.
We contacted the house manager, Chris, twice and he immediately answered his phone and answered our questions.
I would definitely recommend this property.
The only thing that might be improved on is the lighting in the bathrooms. It is quite dim for putting on makeup.

What a view!
Had a great stay. The home is very comfortable and very well appointed, but the view from the deck is amazing. At night with the windows open the only sounds you hear are the waves. Walked to great restaurants at night and walks along the water each morning. Truly relaxing!
