Not knowing anything about Woodstock or the surrounding area, it was serendipitous that I discovered the Imagine Woodstock House. To the west you are minutes away from the Catskills, to the east is the Hudson River Valley and miles of parks and historical homes. Anything and everything you might want to explore is no more than an hour away, with the exception of Sleepy Hollow and it is a quick drive down the freeway.
There is a lovely restaurant in Bearsville along with a wonderful tiny grocery store, the Cub Market, which can take care of most of your specialty culinary needs and sells great sandwiches for picnics. Sunfrost Farms is just down the road between Bearsville and Woodstock and is every cooks dream. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to cook in.
Formerly owned by a composer from the 60’s who renovated, redesigned, lifted and expanded the original cottage; the current owner—who utilizes the house only as a rental—has filled it with musical memorabilia: old electric guitars, radios, phonographs and records. CD players and large flat screen TV’s are in two bedrooms, while the living area contains one that goes on forever. There is adequate air conditioning for the summer both downstairs and in the upstairs bedroom, and heat for the winter; being there during the month of September in 2016 we needed both, and were always comfortable.
The original tiny cottage has the most wonderful floors—wide wooden planks, softly gleaming; an ancient rock fireplace stained black with soot is at the end of the dining room. The doors into the house and leading from the dining room into the kitchen and a downstairs bedroom are white washed—like the horizontal planked walls—and Dutch style. I love the antique upholstered chairs in the dining room and the table they surround…not necessarily a trestle style, but similar in its length and width…and charm and age.
Outside is bucolic peace. I love the backyard with its towering trees on all four sides and the old weathered table with room for six, which is great place to have a restorative happy hour before dinner after a day of exploring.
We spent four fun filled weeks at the Imagine Woodstock Stock House and I do acknowledge that the house is old, and has an old house's quirks. They are well worth adapting to. Mike Young was always responsive if we had a slight problem or question and extremely accommodating to all of our needs.

This property is a nice space and it's a shame it is not maintained better. There was also hair in the upstairs bathroom which didn't add to the ambience and left an impression that the place could be better cleaned. It's the last thing one wants to find after a long drive. There was also quite a significant amount of spider webs in and outside the windows as well as inside the rooms which obviously have not been removed in quite some time. There was also a dead mouse (completely dried up) visible inside the air conditioner vent upstairs. We've rented and seen many different properties in Woodstock and while the house is a good size and nice space, the maintenance and cleanliness makes it not a good experience for the money.

There was also quite a significant amount of spider webs in and outside the windows as well as inside the rooms which obviously have not been removed in quite some time. There was also a dead mouse (completely dried up) visible inside the air conditioner vent upstairs. We've rented and seen many different properties in Woodstock and while the house is a good size and nice space, the maintenance and cleanliness makes it not a good experience for the money.

This house is GREAT! Even without the a/cs on, it was nice and cool. And the owner is TERRIFIC! We had an issue with the phone and internet and he made sure to come over and fix it immediately...and even brought us a bottle of wine! It was a great place to stay for my husband, two young children, and me!

Beautiful house in tranquil setting!!!
This house is GREAT! Even without the a/cs on, it was nice and cool. And the owner is TERRIFIC! We had an issue with the phone and internet and he made sure to come over and fix it immediately...and even brought us a bottle of wine! It was a great place to stay for my husband, two young children, and me!

This house is wonderful for a large party or people with kids. There is a large yard to play in and it is set back from the main road on a private driveway. We even had chipmunks and deer in the yard!! Great amenities with a full kitchen and washer/dryer on site. TV has full cable and Netflix. Interior decoration is superb: rural and comfortable at the same time. Very quiet/safe and walking distance to Bearsville Cafe and Cub Market. Woodstock town center is a very short drive away.

This house is wonderful for a large party or people with kids. There is a large yard to play in and it is set back from the main road on a private driveway. We even had chipmunks and deer in the yard!! Great amenities with a full kitchen and washer/dryer on site. TV has full cable and Netflix. Interior decoration is superb: rural and comfortable at the same time. Very quiet/safe and walking distance to Bearsville Cafe and Cub Market. Woodstock town center is a very short drive away.

Our stay at this Woodstock home was really very special! From the custom built cabinetry to the record player in the master bed room it is clear that a lot of care and thought has gone into this house. It was a very comfortable stay for three couples and our puppy, with a beautiful yard and great lounging space under the beautiful chandelier style lighting. This house is also a perfect location from Woodstock; just outside the hubbub but still very close to town and other great Woodstock sights and experiences (like the Bearsville Theater, the Bear Cafe and the Cub Market- all excellent!) It was really a pleasure to stay here and the house had just the right balance of unique artistry and comfort!

From the custom built cabinetry to the record player in the master bed room it is clear that a lot of care and thought has gone into this house. It was a very comfortable stay for three couples and our puppy, with a beautiful yard and great lounging space under the beautiful chandelier style lighting. This house is also a perfect location from Woodstock; just outside the hubbub but still very close to town and other great Woodstock sights and experiences (like the Bearsville Theater, the Bear Cafe and the Cub Market- all excellent!) It was really a pleasure to stay here and the house had just the right balance of unique artistry and comfort!

We were looking for a getaway from the Sandy Storm aftermath at the Jersey shore and we found it. We wanted to ski and explore new areas of the Catskills. We loved the "in the woods" feel but with close proximity to town. The market around corner was great and the Bear Cafe delish-- the Theatre a blast of a dance party for Pisces party. We had friends rent the cabin and skiied 2 days. Total blast. Michael is a gracious host and excellent to work with :) just what we needed!

We were looking for a getaway from the Sandy Storm aftermath at the Jersey shore and we found it. We wanted to ski and explore new areas of the Catskills. We loved the "in the woods" feel but with close proximity to town. The market around corner was great and the Bear Cafe delish-- the Theatre a blast of a dance party for Pisces party. We had friends rent the cabin and skiied 2 days. Total blast. Michael is a gracious host and excellent to work with :) just what we needed!

I came up to Woodstock with a film in the festival. I wasn't planning on spending a lot of time in my accommodations so convenience was the most important factor. That said, I also didn't want to stay in a dump. I wanted an easy Woodstock experience and a lasting memory and this spacious, beautiful, conveniently located house was absolutely perfect. From the high ceilings to the wide plank floors the house moe than lived up to the photos online and made for an incredible trip. My favorite touch was the old record player in the upstairs bedroom which felt like the perfect way to wake up in Woodstock. My only criticism was the upstairs bathroom, which isn't quite as nice as the rest of the house, although it is perfectly functional. I would highly recommend this house.

That said, I also didn't want to stay in a dump. I wanted an easy Woodstock experience and a lasting memory and this spacious, beautiful, conveniently located house was absolutely perfect. From the high ceilings to the wide plank floors the house moe than lived up to the photos online and made for an incredible trip. My favorite touch was the old record player in the upstairs bedroom which felt like the perfect way to wake up in Woodstock. My only criticism was the upstairs bathroom, which isn't quite as nice as the rest of the house, although it is perfectly functional. I would highly recommend this house.
