Jane was very helpful and attentive. I would definitely stay again. We had a very nice time and were able to explore both the Johns Island area and beaches as well as historic Charleston (our first time in the area). All-in-all, we had a wonderful time.

We had my daughter's wedding here and it was so magical! Even though we had rain, it was still so amazing! Staying at the Hut is like staying at your grandparents house! I loved it and the property is an artist's dream. Jane is so friendly and giving! I look forward to reading more of her books!

I do not have enough words to express my thankfulness to Jane and her husband and the joy from our stay at this property. We asked to have our wedding here when we booked the property and Jane let us visit a few times leading up to the weekend to make sure everything was perfect! Jane was an incredible host-- so responsive, kind, and truly just a treasure to connect with! Prior to the weekend of our stay, a hurricane blew through and Jane and her husband were SO helpful in communicating with us and they themselves helped the yard team to clean up all the debris (it literally looked like nothing had ever happened). The pictures of this property do not do it justice-- it is the most magical display of the low-country. Not only is it beautiful, it is so quiet and peaceful and became the most dreamy setting for our wedding weekend. We wished we could have stayed forever!!! Thankful is an understatement.

justice! Jane was awesome from the very beginning and even let us stay an extra night at no charge. The hut was just as described and way better than expected. Very clean. The one The pictures do not do this place justice! The views are unbeaten and the entire property is beautiful. I would and probably will book this place in the future!

The Hut was everything we could’ve hoped for and more! It was a beautiful setting for a celebration, the weather was perfect and Jane was so easy to deal with. Very relaxing and beautiful setting. Plenty of room to spread out in the house or gather together and play games. Will definitely be looking at renting again for our next celebration!

It is a wonderful property with beautiful views in a very good location for exploring Charleston beaches and City. The house is comfortable and well equipped. The check in was very easy and hosts super welcoming highly recommended

Overall wonderful place. Few negatives no tv in bedroom. Dining room table you can't eat on because it's on carpet. Sliding door to sun porch should be replaced not repaired. Suggest carpet be removed so entire house can be enjoyed. Would rent again.

Excellent Getaway!
The house is tucked back from the road on a gorgeous large property! Even seeing the pictures prior to booking, they didnt do the views justice with those beautiful large trees and creek area. Inside the house, it is very spacious and enough room for a large family crowd with tons of bathrooms! That was a real plus when having a large family group lol. The kitchen and pantry were well stocked for those little items you forget to bring. We always do a lot of cooking with our gatherings so that is important to us. The beds were comfortable and there were tons of extra linens in almost every room if needed. We were a little nervous about alligators on the property having a small child and dog but they stayed in the pond towards the road. We would definitely stay here again, such a wonderful family vacation!

The property outdoors is stunning. Very private, the marsh views, the incredible live oaks, it’s was a beautiful backdrop for our daughter’s wedding.
The house has plenty of room for a family, but it’s very dated. We knew it going in, the pictures are accurate and there were no surprises there. The owner was wonderful and helpful. My only request would be that there was less clutter. The kitchen cabinets were so full of just tons of stuff, the counters have too much random stuff. So nowhere to put your things, work space etc. hard to find kitchen things you needed because you had to dig through so much. No way to put away what you brought, because the cabinets are full. Same in bathrooms. Cabinets were stuffed full of things. So no way to put your things out of the way. If room was made for this, it would be so much better! All in all, good stay, did the job to have our outdoor event in a gorgeous setting.

Surrounded by mother nature
The location of this home is amazing! We enjoyed the beautiful surrounding views from sunrise to sunset. I could not get over how beautiful the trees were. Our dogs enjoyed playing and running freely in the yard chasing birds. We took the best family photos and we loved hanging out in the screened-in porch taking in the views.

A uniquely beautiful property
The land upon which the house is situated has been in the owner’s family since the early 18th century. Breathtaking sunrise views, ancient moss gobbed oaks, lovey screened porch grace a well stocked and cared for home. Gracious host with delightful southern charm.

Lovely, Peaceful home & property close to Charleston and Beaches
Our family is so glad we decided to stay on Johns Island while visiting Charleston and it's beaches. The location is wonderful and Jane's home is clean, spacious and relaxing. It has all the amenities of a home to make your stay comfortable. The land is gorgeous and peaceful and our family very much appreciated the privacy. Jane's written instructions for the home are very clear and simple. The host was prompt in her communication with us and once we checked in she made herself easily available to us in case we had any issues. Our stay was lovely and we never needed to reach out to her for any reason. There are wonderful books in the home. I loved reading about the history of John's Island and enjoyed making the surprise discovery of who the host is through reading her published works.

Absolutely Perfect!!
We stayed at this property for 3 days during our wedding. It was perfect! My family was able to stay in the house. We held the rehearsal, ceremony and reception in the backyard. EVERYONE commented about the beautiful scenery and property.
We were able to take our time setting up and cleaning up - so no rush or stress getting kicked out of a wedding venue!
My favorite part was a big lounger swing in the garage that we put in the yard - my new husband and I laid in that thing for hours the day after the wedding just taking in the beautiful view and fresh air!
We had about 20 people at the wedding and 6 people stayed overnight at the house and had plenty of room to spread out.. The owner is amazing and VERY accomodating! I cannot recommend this place more! I cannot wait to go back!

Had a great weekend exploring the area with my future groomsmen! Property was amazing with great views of the marsh and river. Caught some fish right off of the dock and it is an ideal location to dock your own boat for the weekend. Lots of space indoors and out. Mrs. Herlong was very helpful and quick to answer any questions I had. The neighbors also introduced themselves and were very friendly. Absolutely recommend The Hut and we will definitely be back in the future. Thanks!
