Nice spot on the lake, close to the shore as well. Camp is located well in from the roads so no concerns with traffic while staying there with our dog. Great screened porch. Although we didn’t get an opportunity to use them as the weather was cool it was nice to have kayaks and PFDs available if you were so inclined. Easy drive to explore the coast from the cabin. Lovely walks/small hikes nearby. Also close to shopping and Shain’s which was great!

Step back in time with modern convenience. Comfy porch overlooking lake life. Relax to the max or take a kayak ride. Wonderful week in Maine.

This was absolutely amazing. Everyone was wonderful around us. The lake is beautiful with a great breeze. The cabin is enchanting and we truly wanted to stay forever. It’s rustic charm enraptured us from the start and there was no shortage of fun. Our kids least favorite day was the one we ventured away from the cabin to go to York. They much preferred to be at the cabin, fishing, boating, fires, s’mores, games. We can’t wait to go back and Jan is so responsive. Everything was impeccable. If you’re a luxury hotel with room service type of person it may not be for you but for us it was heaven.

Cute little cabin. A bit cluttered with unnecessary furniture and dishes. No place to put our food. Little ants on counter and in cupboard. Bit of a hill to the fire pit. Caution if you aren't steady on your feet. View was incredible, swimming was amazing. Neighbors were nice. Overall we had a great vacation with lots of laughs and made great memories.

Our vacation at the cabin was wonderful. We had perfect weather, 80-90 degrees every day. There were 3 kayaks included in the rental. The 3 bedrooms were perfect for me, my two sons, and my granddaughter. We spend most of our time on the screened porch, and in the water. Dogs were allowed which was nice for my son, he was able to bring his dog for a couple of days. Jan was easy to reach, and responded quickly to my email. The neighbors were friendly. It was a nice, peaceful vacation. A true Maine cabin. I can tell you the pictures on VRBO do not do it justice. The furniture is updated now. We all had a wonderful time, thank you for sharing your little piece of Maine with us.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. The cabin is clean, quaint and rustic, very well furnished and serves well as the base camp for a very enjoyable stay. Whether you’re sitting on and looking out from the screened porch or sitting on the dock or swimming or kayaking, the water view with mountains in the background is as placid and as simple as you would hope for. You unwind instantly. And the location is so central to so many interesting places, museums and restaurants in this area of Maine. The owners/property managers are very informative and responsive to any questions or concerns you may have.

Pina Needle Cabin is quaint and comfortable, with a large screened porch for enjoying views of the water without bothersome bugs. For the most part the lake is quiet, disturbed only by the call of loons and the sound of cool breezes through the trees. But, as the owners point out, the lake gets busy, and noisy, over the weekends, with a parade of pontoon boats crisscrossing the pond and personal watercraft zipping around. However, early mornings and evenings were pleasantly peaceful with an occasional kayak passing by and a view of beautiful sunsets against the backdrop of Bauneg Beg Mountain (or is it a hill?).
One word of caution that other reviewers mention and you should consider when selecting this property: the neighbor to the north of the cabin is definitely noisy! The music wasn’t constant, but when it was on, it was loud and obnoxious. The owner of the property had the courtesy to ask if the music was too loud, but was offended when we told him that it was. He eventually turned it down only to turn it back up the following day.
Another aspect of staying at Pine Needle Cabin is that, for the sake of the septic system and the quality of water in the pond, no toilet paper goes down the toilet. For most people this isn’t a big deal, but you should be aware that this is the practice before you decide to rent this location.
Overall, I would recommend staying at Pine Needle Cabin. It is reasonably priced, well equipped, and easily accessible. Jan and Ed provide lots of helpful information for your stay. I’m glad they are willing to rent to strangers and share their unique and lovely little cottage for others to experience.

Our family of four and the dog just spent a week at Pine Needle Cabin. This is a small, rustic cottage with the best screened porch that runs across the entire front with a great view of the lake and a large table to have all our meals. The cabin was very clean, firm mattresses, plenty of utensils, pots and dishes, but you have to be creative with counter space and places to store dry goods. You are very close to your neighbors so we kept our dog leashed at all times so he didn't wander. Having the use of 4 kayaks was great to explore the lake. There are two narrow small docks. We did put a chair on one to read but that didn't leave a lot of room to maneuver around it. Jan was a great communicator and we would happily stay at this cabin again.

The property was perfect for my family of 5 and a dog. The house is small, but uses the space wisely. We spent most of our time either outside or on the porch. The porch is the best.

Overall a very relaxing stay at this small rustic cabin on the lake - property as described in posting. Many pros: quiet setting, awesome screened in porch, two docks with access to 4 kayaks and a rowboat, great fishing, within 5 minutes of yummy ice cream and lobster rolls, and excellent communication with property owner. One con: hard to keep the rugs/floors clean with the kids coming in from the lake and from the pine pitch.

Cabin is well preserved time capsule from 1950's with basement design: electrical wires running along beams with outdated switches and outlets, some of them needs to be replaced due electrical hazard. Dark walls with poor lighting makes you feel uncomfortable. We spent most our time outside on the porch or on the deck. Great lake for swimming, fishing and kayaking. Kayaks were stored without proper maintenance, full of water and pine needles, it took me good 30 min to cleaned up. Outdoor grill was old and so rusty I ended up cooking food in foil. In other words: nothing have been done to repair or upgrade this property for years except for the floor on the sun deck.
10 days after vacation I got following message from the owner: "There were dirty dishes left in the sink
The shower stool was white and turned orange since the guest was using some tan spray
There was trash left at the property and had to pay someone to drop it off at the garbage dump." with a demand for extra money. There is cleaning fee for some reasons it does not cover 15 min of dish washing. My family never used spay tan in our lives. The stool wasn't damaged just needed to be spray with clorox and wiped with paper towel, 10 min job. Again, why is not consider regular cleaning? Trash left on the property means that the owner hire someone to pick up 2 13 gallons kitchen from a dumpster put in orange bag and drive 1/4 of mile to drop off location. The owner said it was my responsibility to put the garbage away on Thursday night so sanitation will pick up on Friday. But the garbage I left in dumpster Saturday morning when I checked out. What I was supposed to do, take it with me on my 6 hour drive home? Basically the owner claims that paid extra more that the cleaning fee for 30 min work and 1/4 mile drive for a work which be done in the first place under regular cleaning. You more than welcome to do it but not with my expense. Filed complain with VRBO for excessive and unreasonable expenses. What surprised the most that the owner never tried to contact me, returning customer.
P.S. if you rent this property make sure that you take a pictures before and after your stay.

We had stayed on Bauneg Beg Lake probably 15 years ago and we loved it. So when I found this Rustic little cabin we rented it and the owner was very easy to work with. We met her daughter while at the cabin and she was very nice and friendly. If there was anything I would like to see changed it would be better lighting in cabin. If I had the opportunity to stay again at the cabin I would.
