Two couples - half of each doing the Honu 70.3, the other two volunteering. We then had a week to recover and enjoy Kona and its environs. D-18 provided a very clean, comfortable and ideal setting for doing the things we love- hiking, swimming, running and relaxing at nearby happy hours and eating scrumptious island food. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the modern upgrades, and stocked closets providing for fun beach days.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this well-stocked oceanfront condo. Great location close to shops and restaurants. Amazing ocean view and beautiful sunsets, enjoyed listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. Did not want to leave !

The condo has an incredible view of the ocean. You can sit there and watch boogie borders and the sunset every day. It is very close to the shops and restaurants and it’s easy to walk. We had four adults and fit in easily, however some complained about the mattresses (especially twin). The owners provided snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. which was helpful. Overall, it’s a great place.

The beautiful view from the lanai helped offset the age of the complex. We appreciated the laundry & AC very much. A great spot to stay in the heart of Kailua Kona - lots of shops & restaurants within walking distance. Fish Hopper restaurant was excellent! Also did a Body Glove snorkeling trip to K Bay that was outstanding.

Can’t beat the ocean views. So close to town. Condo has everything you could need.

Everything you need to set yourself up for a wonderful vacation. Views are spectacular, condo is lovely and was nicely appointed down to spices in the kitchen! We loved everything and could not ask for anything else.

Kona Reef is a nice complex that seemed to be showing its age a bit, but is well maintained, safe, and has a nearly unbeatable location. The condo was very nice and as expected. The owners are super easy to communicate with and ultra responsive. Any complaints I list below are minor issues you will have at nearly any VRBO stay and keep in mind I paid double the ordinary charge because of it being Ironman week. For the typical cost this place is an easy 5 star, for double, I get a bit more nit picky. Pros: The views from this condo are incredible. It is exactly as pictured. The layout is great and there is plenty of room for 4 people and would still be fine with another person. The condo had all the amenities you'd need and provided tons of things like snorkel gear, beach umbrellas, towels, toiletries, shampoo, body wash, etc. Really helps minimize what to buy. The apartment was very clean other than the floors. Our feet were pretty dirty from walking on the dust, but we did not make a complaint as everything else was perfect and this really may be due to the constant vog in the air and be something that is unavoidable. We gave the benefit of the doubt rather than be "those" renters. The location is awesome. Its an easy walk down to the Ironman start which is about 1 mile and the shops and restaurants are even closer! For Ironman, the first aid station is right outside the condo on the run. You can go back and forth to the race and the pool and not miss a thing! The pool is great (a bit slippery if you've got sunscreen on) and easy to get to. Would be nice to get a keypad on it as the keys can be tiresome letting people in. Cons: Condo is starting to show its age. Mattresses and dishwasher were useable, but could be updated. Very minor issues. The furniture is fine, but not super comfortable, but who comes from the furniture? The grills they have available are super nice, but I couldn't get above 400. You will be happy with this place. The owners are great and I did not need to have any contact with them for the entire 10 nights. They had everything we needed other than a smaller cooler to picnic with (they have a larger one though), but we left the one we bought so presumably this is solved for the next guests. The condo is half a flight of stairs up from the closest parking. So easy in and out. Its a great home base for any trip to the Big Island. We would 100% stay again and 100% recommend it to anyone. I believe this was our 4 th or 5 th stay at Sandy’s d-18 condo,.. it’s always been our first choice when we come to Kona . The condos location is top notch and with it’s beautiful sunsets it’s addicting. Thank you for the hospitality

Condo was as advertised (which is appreciated). View is stunning and the main draw, however, everything worked as it should, and we didn't lack for anything. The location was easy walking distance to food/shops which made it nice. Overall, a great value and would recommend to anyone on a short visit in Kona.

This unit was pretty average and showed signs of long term wear and tear throughout. NEEDED GOOD CLEANING. Within several steps walking on the floor, our feet were black. Dust buildup several other places throughout the unit.

Spectacular ocean view and comfortable condo for our family of four. It has a fully stocked kitchen, HE washer and dryer, spacious layout, end unit on second floor which gave views in the kitchen of the ocean and bedrooms had windows, all you need for a day at the beach like towels, snorkels, goggles, biggie board, beach chairs and so much more. Just bring yourself, food and your bags.

Our family of 4 (2 teenagers, 2 adults) found this condo to be an excellent choice for our stay. It's a corner unit making it a quiet location. There was plenty of space for the boys to throw a football around on the lawn. It was a very short walk to most of the restaurants in town. And the view was spectacular! Condo was equipped with boogie boards, snorkel gear, plenty of beach towels, etc. Plus, when I messaged the owner asking for recommendations, Sandy was always quick with a response and has great knowledge of things to do on the island. Highly recommend this property as well as this Host!

Fantastic ocean view from the lanai and main room; plenty of room for 5 people. Very well-equipped kitchen - unlike many rental properties, the kitchen was fully stocked and very usuable for actually cooking meals. Nice location as well - only a 10 minute walk into town.

Perfect location! Walkable you the cute town of Kona (.5 mile at most). We spent hours on the huge lanai watching the surfers. Loved the well appointed condo. Very comfortable for our family of 5. Queen bed and twin in one room and a king in the second bedroom. Must sees include: Volcanoes National Park, snorkling at Two Step Beach, exploring at Malakuena Beach, Manta Rays viewing with Ocean Encounters and meals at Umekes, Kona Haven and Kona Brewing. Thanks for an awesome stay!

We had a great time, and loved the view from the condo. Had a rough start when the shower knob broke and would not turn off . It was fixed by the next day since it happened on Sunday. You have a lovely place. Would love to stay again if ever in Hawaii again 🌺Ann

The best feature is the lanai! We spent many hours there, watching the surfers in a high swell and enjoying the sunsets.

Beautiful place, very well stocked. We were never sent a code to get in and property manager never returned any call or text. Thank goodness for on site maintenance guy Jim who helped us. A broom and vacuum would have been nice.

This condo was perfect and the view of the ocean was unbelievable. We loved the size and space of the condo and the full ocean views from the living room and kitchen. We sat on the deck for hours and did not want to leave. There was even a small wedding just outside our unit one night-- that's how perfect the sunsets are! We had all the dishes we needed for our stay and were even welcomed with a basket of local treats when we arrived. We loved having beach towels and snorkel gear provided as well. All of the windows are screened so you can open them up and feel the breeze and hear the birds and the ocean. Can't wait to come back!

This condo was well appointed, comfortable with great A/C and right on the water! My buddy and I stayed in this 2BR 2BA condo for 5 nights and spent most of our time when we were at the unit out on the Lanai listening to the waves come up to the shore. SUPER RELAXING! This unit is a corner unit with a lot of natural light. The condo complex was quiet, and we never heard any of the neighboring tenants in the building. Parking was super close to the unit. Although a second floor unit, there was only a half flight of stairs. Thanks again Sandy!
