Family vacation following a wedding in Wilmington. We had a group from 90 to 20s and this house had something for everyone. You can’t beat the location between the sound and beach, lots of comfortable space to spread out, a perfect kitchen for cooking many large meals, beautiful outdoor space and available items like kayaks, beach chairs etc to cut down on loading up your trunk. It was remarkably quiet and peaceful; we enjoyed our week tremendously.

Fantastic house. Exactly as described and lots of places to hang out...in the sun, shade, upstairs, downstairs, on the pier, two porches. VERY well-stocked pantry and fully stocked kitchen. Loved the hot tub at night and the kayaks during the day.

We have been renting this property since it first went on VRBO and it's our absolute favorite! The sound, beach and everything in between - you could not ask for a better property with better amenities and it's very comfy like being at home.

This is our 2nd time staying at this property. It is absolutely perfect. It has everything you could ever want. The kitchen is top class. In fact, we recently remodeled our kitchen at home and used many ideas that we got from this kitchen. The beds are comfortable and the views of the back porch are stunning. We will definitely be back.

It’s a very well stocked rental - far superior to most we have rented. It’s a very short walk to the beach (never crowded and lovely) and gorgeous sunsets from the hot tub on the back deck. Owners are very easy to communicate with. The location worked well for us to attend a nearby wedding. FYI - there are a lot of breakables, glass front cabinets and glass topped tables making it a little challenging with our toddlers. Worth the effort as this was a very nice rental for our family- we even rented a pontoon boat and cruised around the water ways!

It’s a very well stocked rental - far superior to most we have rented. It’s a very short walk to the beach (never crowded and lovely) and gorgeous sunsets from the hot tub on the back deck. Owners are very easy to communicate with. The location worked well for us to attend a nearby wedding. FYI - there are a lot of breakables, glass front cabinets and glass topped tables making it a little challenging with our toddlers. Worth the effort as this was a very nice rental for our family- we even rented a pontoon boat and cruised around the water ways!

Bright and Spacious Home in a Great Location
Our family and friends enjoyed Bill & Sandra's well-appointed home containing all of the amenities we needed. Loved the dock, kayaks, surf fishing poles, crab traps, front and rear decks. The large kitchen island was a great place to gather and allowed everyone to join in the cooking and prep!

Although the drive was long for us coming from Virginia, it was well worth it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the this house. With the sound on one side and the beach on the other, there were not only water views from all windows on the upstairs level, but a variety of activities to engage in. The yard was also a great size, flat and grassy - perfect for the kids to play while adults relaxed, overlooking from the huge covered deck with ceiling fan or on the private dock. The house is located directly across the street from a beach entrance so the walk is minimal (1 minute). In addition to the setting, the home itself fit our needs perfectly. It has a fully stocked kitchen with cooking basics (like spices) and everything we needed to cook/eat meals in the home (and groceries were only a short 10-15 min drive away). There were plenty of fresh towels, and the house was clean. We also appreciated that there was covered parking in back. There are three bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs, with each floor having its own full bath (two upstairs). The downstairs makes a great hang out space for older kids. We'd definitely recommend this place!

Top notch in amenities and comfort. Absolutely beautiful setting on estuary and beach.
For our nature-loving family of 1l0, we had everything we needed in an amazing beach and sound setting. Spacious and beautifully furnished, wonderful artwork, top-notch kitchen appliances, games and fun space ind[rs for youngsters and teens. Kayaks, canoe., beach importing items, and even crab pots for dock. The house was labeled on light switches which was most helpful for this 4,000' home. Grassy back yard was bonus for ball playing. The porches had many rockers and chairs plus dining area. Loved the sunrises and sunsets .We had a thrill of seeing SpaceX fly over while in the deluxe and we'll maintained hot tub on back deck.

We have been visiting Topsail for over 20 years. This was by far the best house we have ever stayed in. The house is very comfortable. There is a huge kitchen and it is stocked. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated and large. It is across the street from the ocean, maybe a 2 minute walk. And the sound side is beautiful. There were kayaks and fishing from the dock, We finished our evening using the hot tub, it was so pretty to watch the sun set while relaxing in the tub. I look forward to returning year after year, if it’s available. Thank you for a lovely vacation.

For annual summer trips to Topsail over past 12 years, this is first time we stayed on sound and it was great. Quiet location/beautiful window/deck views from a spacious, cottage-like home. Morning coffee on deck without facing the sun and relaxing sunset views. Very short walk to the house's beach access, almost same distance as some of the beach front rentals we have used in past. House is very comfortable and complete (well-equipped kitchen/linens/ towels/crab traps!).

Very well appointed house with all amenities from spices in the kitchen to kayaks and beach chairs. Many nice areas to sit inside and outside. We were very comfortable in the house. We had never been to Topsail before and it was too over-built for our liking. Wonderful stay at Sound Retreat
A wonderful home where all 10 of us ages 5-65 had a great time. Comfortable, clean and convenient to beach, bay and stores. It was so nice not to have to bring every little thing, made it like staying at a friend’s house. Great stretch of beach that was not busy and had tons of shells. You will love this home so don’t hesitate to book it. Thanks Bill and Sandra for sharing your home with us and for being so patience with our questions!

One of the best!
This beautiful home is very comfortable, well maintained and exceptionally well stocked. We loved the kitchen, porches, outdoor furniture and hot tub. There are kayaks, plenty of life vests, and paddles. There are beach chairs, boogie boards and a crab trap. The views are magnificent and there is a pretty little yard. We had a chance to meet the delightful owners and compliment them on this wonderful home.

Excellent Beach Home for Family Reunion
Thank you so much that we could celebrate the Cottrill family Reunion at your beach house. Your house is truly a "home" and not a stripped down beach house.
The amenities of pots and pans, serving dishes, specialty dishes, wine glasses, the artwork, the family pictures made all of us feel at home and not in a generic setting.
The additional items of beach chairs, umbrellas, canoe, kayaks, life preservers, deck furniture, and rocking chairs on the front porch add to the specialness.
Just the (3) zone A/C system, fans, extra beverage refrig are a real bonus.
The condition of the overall property is above board and normal expectations!
We'll be back next year.

Great House
This was a great house! Great view of the sound and a super easy walk to the beach. We really enjoyed use of the kayaks and fishing rods. There were 10 of us, and we were very comfortable. Can't say enough about the home. A wonderfully enjoyable stay thanks for Sandra and Bill!
