In Charleston for our granddaughter’s christening. What a lovely spot, light-filled and with a beautiful garden. Also the most magnificent sycamore tree I’ve ever seen. Our hostess was friendly and gracious, and it turned out that we have friends in common. Altogether a delightful visit.

Highly recommend. Beautifully maintained unit attached to original historic home just south of Broad. Great location, convenient to many restaurants and tours, super-pleasant and helpful hosts.

Staying here enabled us to have a small taste of living in the historic district enjoying the history of the house, the garden and pleasant walks through the area. It is so convenient to walk to many of the historic sites and White Point Garden in addition to numerous of the excellent restaurants without the hassle of looking for parking. The apartment is has quality furnishings and linens and thoughtful details. Lovely hosts avsilable but afford privacy.

Beautiful area close to restaurants and shopping on King street. Very clean with nice amenities (sheets towels etc). Bed very high and hard to get into. Very tight stairs on entry. Parking $25 a day 2 blocks away.

I would highly recommend staying at this Carriage House. The location couldn't be better. All amenities are here. Very clean. The hosts even reimbursed us for a slight inconvenience for work being done with a dinner at a great restaurant. No need to drive. Everything in walking distance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at this charming carriage house. Location is excellent and very central to shops, restaurants , historical tours, etc. We were able to walk everywhere. The only time we took an Uber was to and from airport. The accommodations were very clean, and comfortable and made for a memorable stay.

The reviews are true, this is a perfect place to stay for a visit to the historic district. My wife and I stayed here for three nights after attending a nephew's graduation from the Citadel. The location is perfect, just a few blocks from the Battery, and a few blocks to many stores and restaurants. We had no issue with parking, even though street parking here is restricted to 2 hours from 9 to 5 on weekdays. If needed, there is a parking garage on Queen street just a block away. A lot of thought and attention has been given to furnishing this very comfortable apartment. There is a comfortable, light-filled sitting room with windows on three sides overlooking a walled garden, a small galley kitchen, and a bedroom with an attached bath. Guests have use of the garden (you can hear the bells of the Catholic church just across Broad Street, and of St. Michaels Church a couple of blocks away particularly well from the garden).
One of the reviews says that there is no microwave, but there is a built-in microwave under the kitchen counter (but no oven). I agree with several reviews pointing out that carrying heavy luggage up the quaint spiral staircase could be difficult, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. I also agree with several reviews pointing out that it would be nice to have a step stool in the bedroom. The bed is very comfortable, but is a bit difficult for a short person to climb into!

It is hard to express how wonderful this rental is!! The actual house, location, quaintness and history of the house is unbelievable!! My husband and I enjoyed our vacation here so much. It was everything I could have imagined. Easy access to everything but very quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable and the place was so clean! Will come again!!!

My spouse and I stayed in this property for 3 nights in March and we could not have had a better experience! It's located on a quiet street just a block or two away from restaurants, shops and beautiful sites. The room was welcoming, well appointed, cozy and inviting and very comfortable. The garden was beautiful too! We absolutely would recommend this property for a beautiful Charleston visit.

This rental was absolutely perfect for our couple’s trip to Charleston. The location was ideal and every amenity was top notch. Although some early communication with the owner was not responded to, we navigated things well and overall had a wonderful experience. We also met the owners at one point and they were quite lovely— ensuring we enjoyed the property and our visit to Charleston. What more can you ask for?

It was magical and a beautiful property to stay, I recommend this over a hotel anyday. Walking distance to shops and restaurants are close and the historical aspect is key.

Our stay in the house “South of Broad” was wonderful. All arrangements were made seamlessly, and the caretakers were as kind and accommodating as you could wish for. The house, neighborhood, property, and apartment were all beautiful, and impeccably maintained. It was close to everything for walking, and a reasonable Uber ride from the airport. A very enjoyable experience

Owner would not respond to emails. Just happened to run into owners to get a new set of towels. We were there for a week and wanted fresh towels.

This property was absolutely wonderful -- spotlessly clean, lovely details, perfect location, wonderful hosts. Virginia and Henry were so welcoming and charming and it was a just pleasure to see them when we did. Their quiet historic home is what I'd think of as quintessential Charleston. The home was on a narrow tree-lined one-way street just South of Broad and one block over from King Street, where you will find shops and restaurants. The rental space is upstairs -- up a gorgeous wooden spiral staircase -- in what was perhaps a carriage house or summer kitchen. It has been perfectly restored and/or maintained and is furnished so elegantly. In the wonderful sitting room on the back, which overlooks a beautiful walled garden, there is a history of the home that I found simply fascinating. One could almost feel the history and significance of this home. We had no trouble parking -- there are 2-hour spots on the street during the week (with no time limit overnight or on weekends), and there are a couple of parking garages 2 blocks away if needed. We walked everywhere -- this home is in the middle of the historic district and close to King, Broad, Battery Park, Rainbow Row, etc. We spent hours just walking around the lovely streets and along the harbor in from of Battery Park. I felt safe and at home. I can't think of a single negative to staying here. I can't wait to come back. Thank you Virginia and Henry!

Could not have asked for more!
My goddaughter’s wedding was mid June in Charleston. She was married at the Governor Thomas Bennett house and the pre wedding activities were all downtown. I wanted a location that was close and also wanted a historic and safe location. The carriage house was perfect and charming. It was well appointed and completely clean and up to date. The view of the garden and neighborhood was beautiful and quaint. We were walking distance to the best shops and restaurants. I loved the special attention to details from nice linens, great AC and even the 7th grade essay written by a family member regarding the history of this home. The owner was especially responsive and helpful in looking for a piece of jewelry I thought I had left behind. We hope to visit Charleston again soon and would most definitely inquire about staying here again.

Amazing to truly experience Charleston with a stay in a historical home with a beautiful garden. Fantastic location, close to everything you want to see, but so enjoyable to be on a quiet peaceful street.

We have been annual visitors to Charleston for some time except for the last couple of years. We had family there up until 2 years ago. Our trip this year required finding a nice walkable property to enjoyed an extended stay. We found it here. This is one if those times where I find myself conflicted to give yet another strong review for a property as I like to keep hidden gems secrect. All of the other positive reviews are spot on. The location and space were perfect for us and we will be back. The only thing we did not experience that other reviewers did was a lot of interaction with the hosts. We did finally meet on our last day there and did not get a response to questions posed prior to our arrival. The place is great, check in a breeze, ample enough space for a couple not intending on staying put. Beautiful garden in the back. Do yourself a favor and if you find this listing, book it.

We loved our stay here! The location is amazing and is in the heart of the historic area! Had that Charleston charm to it but updated bath and kitchen which were nice. We loved our private garden! You could occasionally hear the owners of the property during your stay while they were in the area below your room. We didn't mind at all, just something to be mindful of when choosing to book here. It was a great place to stay!
