This home is directly across the street from the ocean. You can hear the waves and smell the ocean easily when the windows are open. There is a high mound across the street which is wonderful to walk on. The beach is rocky but also has plenty of sand during low tide and when the ocean is going “out”. Had plenty of time to enjoy the sand and ocean. This particular beach was extremely sparsely populated, so, it was like a private beach almost. Hardly anyone on it. The home is very comfortable and extremely clean and the landlord has thought of everything. The location is a very desirable part of Rye where it is quieter and more rustic but plenty close to lots of activities at Hampton Beach, Portsmouth and So Maine. The house remains quite cool even when it is quite warm and humid outside. I was very impressed with the home. It was well worth the money. The landlord was very nice, down to earth and easily available - not that I needed him for anything. I give this home a 10 out of 10 and I am known to be a very tough grader.

Really great location. You can walk to beach across the street as long as you can hike over some rocks. Or you can easily bike/drive to multiple beaches in two miles that have walk in access. So much to do in the area, you just need to do some planning ahead to get whale watching tickets, beach tickets etc. Location of the house is near everything but out of the center of the hub bub so it is quieter. Bedrooms upstairs involve steep stairs, but there is a bedroom on the first floor and plenty of space to spread out. House is great with all the usual amenities. Owner was great and accessible. Very clean. We had groceries delivered with insta cart and food with door dash, so if you don't want to do anything but look at the beach you can do that too.

We loved the location and how big the house was. We were able to walk the beach everyday and watch the changing of the tides. The kids loved walking the rocks and finding shells. The house had lots of room for 6 people to spread out. We loved all the sitting areas and 2 TV options for our teens. The big dinning room provided get game time around it. We enjoyed having the garage for all our bikes too. It was nice to not have to drive them around on the bike rack all week and be able to get them out of the salty air. The location was great to bike to Hampton and go downtown. The house was well stocked and had nice touches throughout it.

House has character and is great for 6 with lots of room to spread out. The owner lives next door and is very friendly and lets you know he is there to serve you and to make your stay enjoyable. I will rent again if we head to the New Hampshire coast next year.

This was our second time staying in the main house at Salty Breeze for our "Girls' Week". Once again had a fantastic time with no hassles. Plenty of beds for all of us. The beach is right across the street, so no need to drive and deal with packing up and parking. The back patio is private and a great place to gather. The house is very clean with 2 bathrooms and a handy outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand. We Ubered to Portsmouth for dinner and cocktails and Petey's is less than a mile down the street for fish and clams. Plenty of free parking for our 6 cars. Lots of other attractions are only a few miles down the road. The Clinton family owners (Gerry, Mercy, and Mark) are gracious people and available for any issues or questions. We hope to return again!

The location was perfect for my family. Just down the road are the beaches, eateries, convenience stores, a grocery store, ice cream shops...it's all there. The cottage/home satisfied my family needs by offering extraordinary space, lots of sunlight, a cool breeze always flowing through the house for comfort and breathtaking views of the ocean from the second floor. The owners of the property are very caring and accommodating. We loved it all....!!

Our Christmas was cozy and fun in the house we rented. Even with the miserable below freezing temperatures, the house was pleasantly warm. Everything was newly renovated and all new appliances, comfortable beds, etc. The manager Mark and owner Judy were very helpful and friendly and since we were the first to stay, wanted our feedback for any improvements. All of us enjoyed our stay and would certainly rent the house again! Thank you

This cottage was much bigger than I thought it would be; such a pleasant surprise! Very clean and Mark was so helpful and accommodating. You can walk right across the street to the beach and watch a beautiful sunrise. We will be back!

The location is perfect. Right across the street from a beautiful beach and very close to the restaurants and shops of Portsmouth. The upstairs has a wonderful view of the ocean and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was very relaxing.

We rented in late August, 3 adults and 3 kiddos. We LOVED this place so much. Loved hearing the ocean all day long and I realized how long it had been since seeing the sunrise over the ocean. We didn't go anywhere-we put the house beach chairs on the beach and the kids just ran back and forth from the house all day. The tides there are amazing and the waves get big as the tides coming in and we loved body surfing and boogie boarding late into the day. We all loved low tide as well, built giant sand castles and looked for sea creatures for hours. Kids learned to surf at Jenness-5 minutes away. We went for long walks on the rock barrier. We also went for long hikes on the trails at the state park and the kids loved the science center. I thought we would go to the water park and Rye airfield skate park but the ocean was so amazing we just couldn't leave. SO much space in this house-we loved the outdoor shower and the hose at the front door was key. We were there for 3 days and it felt like a week. Owner was lovely and welcoming. The pictures don't do the house justice, it's really big and lovely, clean and well laid out to accomodate lots of folks. To be 50 feet from the beach was so relaxing for all of us- no packing up food or clothes, just total relaxation. Picking my dates for next year! This was my first time to Rye and I can't believe what I've been missing. I loved it so much we snuck back the very next weekend for another lobster roll and surfing session. It's got a real old school feel. LOVED IT!

You cannot see the ocean or the beach from the main floor of this cottage. Why? Because after you cross the busy two lane road you get to climb an 8 foot high wall of dirt (5 miles long?) that was probably placed there because of the potential for storms. The wall of dirt lasts several miles so don't bother even trying to get a glimpse of the water. There is NO A/C so if you like the windows open and listening to heavy traffic, loud radios and beeping horns ALL night, you'll love this place. The fans blow hot air, which is not soothing. There are no washcloths to be found anywhere and there are limited towels so I guess you have to bring your own. The whole house groans when you take a shower upstairs or flush the toilet. It is in BAD need of updating...outdated appliances, sparse furniture in the house, etc.... One of the members of the family stopped by and asked how things were and when I mentioned I couldn't even see the ocean he said, "Hey, my family has owned this for 40 years!" as if I was insulting him. The TV is way to small in the living room and we could only find two lawn chairs to sit on...I hope you don't bring more than two people to the cottage! The one car garage MAY fit a small car, but not a larger travel vehicle such as a crossover or a minivan. The cottage is surrounded very closely by other cottages (25 feet away?) so there is little privacy. I guess what bugs us the most is how misleading this ad really is. Just be honest. Don't tell people that there is little traffic when you know that is not true. Do not tell people it is a 'beach cottage' when you can't even see the ocean/beach due to the 8 foot sea wall of dirt directly in front of the house! We had to get in our car and DRIVE to a public beach to go in the water. Oh and if you did bring a jet back and manage to get over the wall of dirt and cross the busy highway, the beach itself is rocky!! Yes, there is some sand there but it is not this sandy beach experience that you would be described to you by the owners. Its funny because there are several "this is a beach house" signs and wall hangings all over the cottage. Really? What beach? How to fix: 1. Re-write this ad and BE HONEST about what this place is and isn't. 2. Spend $5 and get some more towels and washcloths. 3. Fix all of the non working electrical outlets and plumbing issues. 4. Update the appliances and furniture (hello 80s!) and lower the price to reflect the REAL value of this place.

The Main House was very clean, spacious and very well maintained. This house was perfect for our August "Girls Getaway " (7 of us) and would also be great for a family vacation. I would recommend this property to anyone and I hope we can return there again soon. Another big plus is that Mark Clinton (and family) responds immediately to any phone call, text or email, from booking to leaving. He was an excellent host. Pictures and description on VRBO accurately represent the property. Foss Beach is absolutely beautiful and long enough to take a great walk and swim and play. Parking was not a problem even with 7 cars as free street parking is available. Uber and taxi are available at a reasonable price if you want to go into Portsmouth and enjoy cocktails. We rented for our yearly Rye vacation. Six adults comfortably shared the house. It was clean and all appliances in working order. The bathroom facilities were in excellent condition. The outdoor shower was a bonus! The location is perfect with a beautiful beach across the street. The restaurants within walking distance were a bonus. The homeowners have been ideal to work with. I could not give a better recommendation for a place to stay in Rye, New Hampshire!
