We can't say enough about how wonderful this home was. After an exhausting search, this was the most affordable, pet friendly home we could find in OBX. It was SPOTLESS upon arrival and had everything we needed for a great vacation with a family of 10. The pool was a great addition after long sandy days on the beach. The kitchen was more well-stocked than my own kitchen at home! Absolutely everything you'd need to cook for a week, even baking dishes, seafood tools, bar tools, etc. The location was quiet and secluded with less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. There's even a parking lot at the beach entrance for the days that we loaded up wagons and tents and didn't feel like carrying them. We watched 4th of July fireworks from the top balcony. I would 100% recommend this home for family rentals. The owners were kind and easy to deal with. I'd stay here again any time!

We had a great experience at Crab A Cold One. The house was great! Our family loved the pool, the pool table, ping-pong table, foosball table and the way the house was laid out. The hot tub was also soothing as well. Not too long of a walk to the beach and it’s nice that the property is surrounded by trees, so it’s very private. It was a wonderful experience. The owners are great to work with. Thank you John And Mary for a wonderful time. We look forward to going again next year. OBX - making memories!

My family and I highly recommend this home for your beach vacation. First off, John and Mary communicated everything thoroughly before we arrived and answered all of our questions. The house was very clean and well kept. The outside of the house was also very clean. It’s only a short walk from the beach too! My kids and I used the pool everyday. One thing I noticed at this house vs. other houses we used in the past was how well stocked the kitchen was for cooking meals. Clean and new dishes, cookware and appliances. The neighborhood is quiet in the evening and I really love this neighborhood in Corolla. Thank you for having us! We had an amazing time vacationing in your home.

We enjoyed staying in Corolla — there were many things to do. Beaches were beautiful and home had very easy access to beach whether walking, biking, or driving. We liked the neighborhood very much! House had everything needed for a comfortable stay. While we liked the different levels of the house they may be a problem if one had difficulty with stairs. Pool was great!

We had a great time even though we had rain for a few days. The owner was very accommodating in helping us get the pool cleaned after the storm. We made great memories and can’t wait to go back next year.

Highly recommend this vacation rental! Owners are very responsive and kind. We came as a group of 7 (adults and teens) and there was plenty of room for all. The pool and hot tub were fantastic! There are no pool tubes (we left two pool noodles) so bring one or two if needed/desired. After beach, and on days the beach was too much work, the pool and hot tub were a fabulous alternative! Plenty of lounge chairs and bistro table/chairs (with umbrella). Child safe closure on gated pool area. Bed sheets will be outside the front door in black tub upon arrival (provided by owner). You will need to make your own beds- comforters and pillows provided inside. Towels and washcloths ARE NOT PROVIDED. You must pack your own or rent from the linen company. I missed that detail and we rented from linen rental (Moneysworth rental)- we called them at 5pm and by 5:30 our towels were delivered, $7 per set (one bath towel, one washcloth, one hand towel). Worked out perfectly! The beds are very firm, bedrooms are very very clean. Both king rooms have oscillating fans provided. We found that the ac works so well in basement and upstairs, but felt just a little warmer on middle level where bedrooms are. The fans placed near doorway pulled some cooler air in two king rooms. We also found that by turning up the ac in basement and upstairs (to 73), keep the basement door shut by laundry area, and close vent by stairs upon entry (Front door area) it really helped cool off bedrooms. Can't explain why all of that helped as they are on different systems, but it really made a difference! Decking in back of house goes from ground level to very top loft area- so nice! Grill in perfect working order. Kitchen fully stocked, even with multiple colanders and crock pot. Bring toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, hand soaps, dish detergent, and trash bags. These are typical things to bring from home when renting from VRBO, just pointing out so you don't forget anything :) Placement of bathrooms was perfect- one full in basement level (game room), full on bedroom floor, full bathroom in second king room, and 1/2 bath off of kitchen. Also, outdoor shower and two hoses for rinsing off. Rent bikes to get to beach (Ocean Atlantic rentals- they deliver for free) To beach: Outside, make right and go to 1st pedestrian crossing. Make a left- this walkway takes u to beach- 5 min walk- 2min bike ride. Get a lock for bikes and lock by stairs over dune. Loved this house so much!

The house was perfect for the 5 of us but had much more space & beds for larger groups. We had some beautiful beach days and at the owner’s recommendation, we rented a golf cart which was perfect for getting everyone and everything to the beach quickly and easily. We had some cooler and rainy days too and never got bored. We played pool, used the hot tub, played basketball, and watched tv (lots of channels!). We ordered out everyday and loved all of the local seafood, however, the kitchen was fully stocked to cook or bake anything you wanted. There was one small electric issue that was taken care of almost immediately. John was so responsive and easy to communicate with via text and phone. We felt right at home. We have a toddler who is a pro at stairs but for crawlers and early walkers, make sure they would be safe on the stairs. Our only regret was that we forgot to play hide and seek which this house was made for!

We had 3 distance learners and 1 virtual employee working during the day and this house was perfect. It has several tables and the Internet was outstanding. The 5 minute walks to the beach were a great break and the ice cream shop around the corner made a fun incentive for an after dinner snack. The owner was very easy to work with.

This house is the best of all worlds! We rented bikes and it was probably under a 2 min easy ride to the beach, not to mention plenty else close by to see and visit including Corolla Historic Village (great bookstore) and Whalehead Park which supposedly has the best sunsets in all of OBX. The beach here is probably one of the widest and most GORGEOUS too. The 4x4 beach is even more beautiful and only minutes away, definitely worth a tour to see the horses. The outdoor shower and 2 hoses allows everyone to rinse off the sand before tracking into the house or pool. My twin 10 year old boys LOVED the game room (especially pool table) and the private pool... worked out perfect given the present COVID-19 situation. I enjoyed the hot tub after the pool when the sun went down. Great selection of books to read in case you need one, a few family friendly board games and a deck of cards to play, horseshoes and corn hole (basement closet), and a basketball for the hoop. There were lots of beach chairs and a wagon too, in addition to extra pool floats. The house is nicely secluded and private from the neighbors. Although it was just the 3 of us there was plenty room to spread out and give each other space and privacy. The bottom level did scare me a little bit because there were so many exit doors and no window coverings... but you can easily lock that part of the house off so no worries there at night! This home is not over cluttered with knick knacks like I've experienced with other rentals... you actually have space to unpack and find your stuff, which is quite helpful traveling with kids. The kitchen is well-appointed and has plenty of space. Best washer and dryer I've ever experienced in a rental too! And by far the cleanest property I have ever stayed at! Beds are very comfortable and there's extra pillows/blankets in the closets. Just know the bathrooms are a little small, which would only be problematic if lots of people planned on staying together but there are 4 of them including a full bath in the lowest level for easy beach/pool cleanup. I would probably not recommend this house to anyone with toddlers/crawlers... as you can see from the pictures the railings could be unsafe. John was incredibly responsive and helpful even prior to booking and staying at his property. We will definitely be back! And FYI... the fan remote is in the red fish on the end table in the living room! LOL

Everything was perfect. The house was so comfortable. The master bedroom was amazing. The pool, hot tub, and game room was great for the family. Close to stores but away from the crowds. We can't wait to go back!

Easily located property. Very comfortable for 4 adults and 4 children. Plenty to keep kids occupied from the pool to the game room. AC in master bedroom could be a little stronger but not a huge issue with us during our stay. Overall this house was perfect for two active families, location was semi private for the loud kids and plenty of space for everyone to burn off steam.

Our family of 8 and 4 month old granddaughter stayed here 6/28 - 7/5. The house is even better in person, and the homeowners were amazing! The kitchen is equipped with everything you could ever need to cook large meals. Our family loved the pool, hot tub, and game room. Awesome area with shops and grocery stores just minutes away. We look forward to returning again soon!

The perfect rental for a big family group. We're already talking about coming back next year. I wish you could see the address before you book, because the aerial maps view tells the story. Surrounded by trees and a vacant lot to one side, we had more privacy than almost any other ocean side home we saw. Easy biking access to the stores and restaurants, and a short boardwalk stroll to the beach, we found it to be a perfect spot for our group. With bedrooms separated by a little maze of stairs, we never felt on top of each other, even though we filled the house to capacity with twelve people. The pool and hot tub were amazing to have. Fenced in for privacy and with the pool big enough for all of us, we spent a lot of time playing music pool-side and enjoying the sun. Unlike some tiny beach pools, If you really wanted to, you could do laps...with a lot of turns, that is. Some of us chose to bring down our mats and do yoga on the pool deck. A table with beach umbrella gave shelter to the fair-skinned members of the group so they could still be with us outside. The owners were gracious and responsive throughout our stay, for example they sent a handyman the same day to fix a toilet seat which had cracked. Read the lease details. Bed linens are provided, but not bath and beach towels. Luckily the same company that does the linen service was able to quickly rent us what we needed. In peak weeks, you'll probably want to arrange rental in advance or be sure to bring what you need from home. The kitchen was amply sized for a big group, and we cooked for a dozen, nearly every meal for the whole week. They had every utensil we needed, even a ricer for mashed potatoes. We hope you'll enjoy your stay as much as we did.

This house was perfect for our family vacation. Although we had rain for a few days, we stayed busy with the foosball table and ping pong in the game room. Once the sun appeared, we had a 5 minute walk to the beach and a beautiful pool to enjoy. We had a minor issue with the dishwasher, and John had someone there almost immediately to take care of it.
