This is a 160 year old home. Some rooms were renovated pretty well, and others were not. The kitchen had very cheap appliances and some cupboard doors would not close. A mouse visited us a few days into our visit, pooping on the stove and counters. The house is 50 yards from busy Maine Hwy 1. There are two other rental units attached to the main house, so there was some unexpected noise to deal with on occasion. The owners are currently trying to sell the property and the listing description is not very accurate, in terms of the condition of the property. We will be very careful in the future when looking into renting an old historic property.

Experience a bit of coastal Maine. Excellent marine museum just up the street and home full of antiques. Lots of room for family gatherings. Only drawback is noise from US 1 early mornings to evenings. Hosts are only a phone call away if questions arise.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay. It was comfortable and very relaxing. Rooms were clean and very roomy. Owners were great in communicating prior to our arrival. Nice grill and patio area for cooking out. Would not hesitate to book again at that location!!!!

A beautifully appointed, large old captain’s one-time mansion. Beds were comfortable, with two bathrooms. It’s age shows with original windows and beautiful floors…which were not quite so level. Great sitting room with an immense library. Great location!

House was nice and big, plenty of room. Cleanliness was not what we expected - it's an old house and seems like whoever cleans the place was doing a poor job. We contacted the owners several times during our stay though and they were excellent to talk to, heard and expressed regret about our concerns - they seemed earnest about their desire to address our concerns for future guests and even gave a small refund for our experience.
We were staying here partly because it was near a wedding we were attending. If we were to go back, I wouldn't choose this house again simply because of the location - its far from Acadia (1 hour+ to entrance, then add at least 20 minutes to get anywhere in the park). This really ate up our days since we went to Acadia 4 times during our stay. Had I known better, I would have stayed farther from the wedding and closer to Acadia. Although the nearby town of Belfast was nice. Would absolutely work with these owners again if they had other properties in a location we desired.

This spacious farmhouse is lovely and in a nice location, with easy access to all the sights near Belfast and Searspoint. The owner was extremely responsive to an issue we had when we first arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely house.

Great location! Enjoyed our stay. Understand home is very old but some items in disrepair and lights not all working. Downstairs bathroom with lots of dirt on baseboards. However, would stay again since location was central to the places we were visiting.

We stayed at this home as our "home base" for a wedding. Eight of us enjoyed the proximity and ease of travel to Belfast and other intriguing places to eat and drink. Suited our needs for the trip well. Hosts communicated in a timely fashion and provided us with all relevant information we needed.

Property as described, great amenities, close to shopping. A detailed summary of dining and attractions was also provided at check-in. Overall it was perfect for our group of four senior male adults. Many thanks!

Historic house well appointed, tastefully decorated - some small negatives completely excused with 100+ yr old property. Great location to visit the many small towns along coastal Maine. Hot tub a great bonus.

My husband and I, two friends and two small dogs had a lovely stay at this special home. It's very large, comfortable, and we all had plenty of room. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom on the first floor (both queen beds) and three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs (king bed upstairs). The home is a lovely old farmhouse with traditional decor, but is nicely updated. The kitchen is spacious had everything we needed. Brenda was very responsive when we had questions. As some have mentioned, the house is on a main road and there is no fence. This did not bother us at all, but if you have small children or dogs that run off, just be aware. There is also a rental on the opposite side of the house where another couple was staying, but we only ran into them once. The home is in a perfect location for exploring Belfast (which we loved) and further north. We also did some beautiful hikes at Moose Point State Park and Sears Island. We really enjoyed midcoast Maine and hope to return next year!

The description of the Farmhouse was very accurate, but we were happily surprised by both the size of the house and the luxuriousness of the property. Our family group consisted of three apartment-dwelling households and we really enjoyed the number of rooms and the comfortable furnishings. We had plenty of space to read, work (wifi was great) and just relax. The hot tub was a highlight, and it got plenty of use, as did the gas grill. The house was completely furnished with everything we needed, and the local shops recommended by the owners had everything we wanted. The communication with the owners leading up to our arrival was terrific and very helpful. We had a wonderful day at Moose Point State Park which allowed "in and out" privileges. We particularly enjoyed the shops and restaurants of Belfast. A great place to just unwind.

My family and I had a great time staying at the farmhouse. The space is big, well appointed, and close to the sweet coastal town of Belfast, which had a great Coop, bakery, and wine store for us to stock up on everything we needed.
We were a bit surprised that the property was so close to busy HWY 1. But we got used to hearing the highway traffic and keeping a close eye on our 3 year old and dog when they left the house, we adapted and felt that ultimately, we had found a great home base for our coastal Maine adventures.

Spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, good location. Would definitely stay there again. While I didn't give 5 stars for each category I think the overall rating could be at least 4.5 stars.

Brenda and Mike's historic sea captain's home was a superb vacation rental for our family. This charming place was very comfortable, had a warm, welcoming feeling, and had ample space for all five of us. There were a few times when we almost didn't explore the area because we each liked staying in different rooms so much. Brenda and Mike were great at communicating with me, and even recommended an activity (taking a guided family tour of the Penobscot Marine Museum) that was a scavenger hunt-bingo game that our 9 & 10 year olds really had fun with. The property manager, Kathy, was extremely helpful, and our kids enjoyed talking with her about her horses. The town of Searsport was the perfect location for our excursions both to Acadia National park and to midcoast towns further 'south' like Damariscotta, and we almost caught a mackerel while fishing at the Searsport public pier (down Steamboat Ave). Also, the town of Belfast is lovely and is only a short 10-minute drive from Brenda and Mike's place. Overall, one of the best VRBO experiences I've ever had.

We had a blast in Maine and our stay at this lovely little farmhouse was everything we hoped for. We look forward to returning and staying again, soon!

Brenda was very nice and her communication was good given how often we did need to communicate. I understand that given the COVID circumstances Brenda and Mike were unable to visit the place prior to our arrival, but I will say there are some areas that could use some maintenance. Quite a few lights were not functioning, the propane tank was empty (which we filled, and Brenda subsequently reimbursed us for) and our entrance did not lock properly. As part of the instructions we were supposed to leave the property in broom swept conditions, but I do not think the property had been swept for our arrival as there was a lot of debris (and lady bugs) on the ground. Overall, Brenda was very nice and accommodating; the house provided the basics of our needs (plus the hot tub, which is a nice perk), but some of the other aspects were not as I expected.

The house was centrally located and had all the basics covered. The hot tub was great. The kitchen was also well equipped. Plenty of towels for the bathrooms and hot tub. Lots of space and seating outside. It does sit on route 1 so you will hear traffic. There is another unit (or maybe two?) on the other side of the property but we had no interaction and so it was not a privacy or other issue at all. Bedrooms nicely appointed. Lobster pound nearby! My only note would be that the property is over 100 years old (I think) so don’t expect it to feel brand new. There’s a little bit of a musty smell that’s not surprising, but opening the windows and turning on the vents gets it aired out. That said, the place is well cared for and the owners were very responsive to a few small issues. Recommended, especially for large groups!

Our stay at this Searsport house was just great! The house is well-maintained, with everything set up just to work as expected the second you come in! It is well stocked with everything you may need. However, the main thing about the house is its character. Every space - from living room, to multiple bedrooms, to laundry room - is decorated with the details that make this house warm and welcoming. I wish I could spend the hours it deserves in the living room/library with its great selection of books and table games, on the soft sofa. Each of the bedrooms has its theme and decorated accordingly. One if my sons had a hard time choosing between Yankees and airplanes room - both being his passion, my daughter named the master bedroom "Princess Room" and pretty much grabbed it to herself. The kitchen with the period details was a delight for me. In fact, we forgo a couple of planned excursions in order to enjoy the house more. The Jacuzzi was a nightly treat for the kids and us.The house is well situated, with many activities, parks and towns to explore nearby, and about 1.5 hours scenic drive to Acadia. We hope to come back again to experience the place more!
