My 2 (beautiful, smart, talented) spaniels and I absolutely adore everything about Rabbit Shadow! We spent 2022 Thanksgiving there and wasted no time booking for 2023 Thanksgiving. Heather is a superb host: she is so accommodating and so patient, and replies within minutes of any query. The property is beautiful, on a huge wooded private lot with a creek behind the house. High speed internet, a kitchen with everything a chef could want, a fireplace in the cozy living room, comfy beds ~ and so much more. The pictures do not do it justice! The only downside to our stay was having to leave…we were homesick for our happy little refuge before we reached the end of the driveway! Thank you, Heather, for another wonderful stay at Rabbit Shadow.

Great cabin. Even though it was chilly, kept the back door open just so we can hear the babbling brook

It’s a beautiful home that has been updated with lots of wonderful details…a wonderful spot!

We really loved our stay. The property is beautiful the stream is so peaceful out back. The home is in the most perfect location, right by the blue ridge parkway, not far from Waynesville, canton and Asheville.
The dryer was not working, which was not a big deal for us but if that is something you are relying on you may want to double check it’s working again with the host. The hot tub was also dirty. Lots of sand in the bottom so I don’t think it was drained and cleaned between stays. Also the beds could use upgrade, they were pretty uncomfortable!

The perfect place to rest and relax after a day of hiking beautiful North Carolina trails. Loved how remote the cottage is. A great writer’s getaway. Hot tub, creek and wood stove were perfect additions. A well-stocked kitchen — and nice surprise bonus of washer/dryer

We had a great time on our recent visit and we’re already talking about going back again in a different season. The cabin was exactly what we expected and wanted - secluded, cozy, relaxing, and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the sound of the stream outside, the remote location, and that it included all of the contemporary comforts (wifi, wireless speaker, fireplace, laundry, etc.). Looking forward to our next visit!

Super quiet and secluded area, address would not pull up on gps so definitely pay attention to written directions. Perfect for a weekend getaway.

The property was clean and nice and the property manager was very helpful. She even came out to help with the fireplace.

When we arrived we wanted to get in the hot tub, the top priority in our search for a cabin. The hot tub had been off for some time. Nobody checked it before our arrival, which also likely means it wasn’t cleaned. It took all night and all the next day to heat up, so we couldn’t use it for 1/3 of our trip.
Speaking of cleanliness, there was a bad fruit fly infestation. Again, clearly no one had addressed this for some time. A dozen in each window, so many flying around the kitchen they fly into your face. We ate outside where we had no worries of bugs, and covered everything inside.
The floor had obvious human hair on it, behind every cabinet was very dusty, just overall whoever is supposed to be cleaning and maintaining it is not doing a good job.
The location is decent, equally far from everything. The stream by the cabin is indeed as nice as advertised. If it had been properly cleaned and the hot tub properly maintained, it would be 4 or 5 stars for the price. But as is I have to give it 2.5.

This is a great little place. Nice and quiet, off the main road. Love the Kitchen with the old Youngstown Sink base cabinet. The deck right on the creek is a plus! We had a great time.

Lovely cottage. The location by the creek is wonderful. The cottage was very clean and we had all the cookware needed to make dinner. There were some nice little decor details (rabbits) we enjoyed as well.

This property was pretty great. The location is perfect and so BEATIFUL!!! The outside portion on the back deck and hot tub, was by far my favorite part. Nature just totally surrounds you and you can hear the relaxing creek while you're soaking in the hot tub. The only thing, there was a distinct smell in the house that was different and outdated appliances or furniture. Other than that, we loved it!

Summer Fun
We stayed here in the winter and came back for summer. The back porch is perfect for summer nights.

Great Place
Felt like in middle of the forest as the place is off the beaten path - but still 30-40 min from some great hiking, food / beer in Asheville, Waynesville and Brevard. Host was so nice shipping back out “fancy” water bottles we left in fridge.

One of our favorite spots!
This property is just wonderful! This home and location has everything needed for a great getaway. Even though not large, it is well appointed and comfy and the surroundings are gorgeous. Just a short-drive to many areas whether you want to go out to eat, shop, or visit the area attractions. If you want to just hang out and read a book or play games, you have a picturesque setting and the water is beautiful. Also, if you like to cook a nice meal there is everything you need to do so. We will surely be back again!

Really nice cabin
The only real issue was that the only bridge to the property was under construction due to the Tropical Storm. It was closed for a few hours when we were trying to return to the property one afternoon. Not at all the fault of the manager or anything. Overall we had a really nice stay.

Christmas Vacation
This cabin was perfect! We did not have any issues with the wifi or the smart TV. The patio is a great place to sit next to the stream. If I had one upgrade to make it would be a new sectional is needed. We will definitely rent this cabin again!

Appreciated the location of the property near national parks. We went on several hikes. We also took day trips to Asheville and Waynesville. The cabin was cozy and the patio was great. We spent evenings in the hot tub and were happy to see that it was warm and ready to use. We can see why people make return visits. It will be even better when there is a usable fireplace.

The Creek
We knew that when we booked this trip that the home was a little outdated but decided to book anyway because it seemed to have all of the amenities that we were looking for and are not picky people. Our check-in was at 4 and we didn't arrive at cabin until 10:30. It was freezing, raining, and the directions during daytime maybe have been easier but we didn't make it to that area until 6:30. We couldn't see any street signs, it was so dark and not lit at all.We were lost in the mountain for a while. Someone had signs up telling us that we were going the wrong way, which in fact we were not.We ended up a little ways away into a trailer park that was really rundown, trash everywhere, ended up in a ditch. It was scary to say the least. When we finally were able to speak to someone at the little fire department nearby that gave us somewhat of better directions ,we were able to find it. Finally! No cell service.
We arrived at Cabin and it was pitch black, no lights on, nothing. We had to use our cell phones to get to lockbox and try all three keys to get in.
The cabin was definitely outdated but we didn't mind. We called it a night and woke up the next morning to a beautiful back yard. The creek was this places saving Grace. The most beautiful amenity. The cows grazing in the field on the other side of Creek was beautiful as well. I'm going to make a long story short. We stayed for 5 nights. We booked this place because it had a fireplace which come to find out, we were not able to use. The hot tub( another reason we booked) wasn't even filled up all of the way and the chlorine in it burnt our eyes. Laying on the couch at night after a long day we were invaded with stink bugs. A previous person had wrote in a review about the volume being broken on the TV and still was not fixed when we arrived. We watched movies with closed captioning(when it worked). The shower had an over flowing of hot water but was tiny. The bed closest to the bathroom was so incredibly comfortable and the both of us hadn't slept so good in yrs.We payed a lot of money for this cabin and a lot of fees which included cleaning but we had to take our own trash to the Fire Dept. upon leaving. Leaving with all of our belongings with piles of trash on top of it wasn't what we had expected. We don't mean any disrespect with this review, we just want others to know exactly what they are getting for their money.

This cabin is OLD and outdated. There weren't even covers over electrical sockets in the living room. The fireplace/pot belly stove is unusable. The TV is a smart tv, but the volume doesn't work-either up or down. Hot tub and shower are tiny. The only redeeming aspect is the beautiful backyard/porch.

Great Mountain Escape
We spent a long weekend here and it was the perfect getaway. The cabin is tucked back from the quiet road and you really feel like you’re in your own little world. The creek out back is incredible as well and you can hear it from the back bedroom at night. It’s about 40 minutes from Asheville and 25 mins from the Blue Ridge Parkway so it’s a great home base for day hikes or trips into town.
I read a lot of complaints about wifi but it worked perfectly for us.
Overall it’s a quiet, relaxing little retreat with all the necessities. We’ll definitely be back.

A fairy glen setting close to the Parkway. Our hearts go out to the locals there in Cruso - could see the devastation on the way to the cottage but miraculously it was spared and no damage seen there. Humble reminder of the power of nature.

This cottage turned out to be a magical little getaway for our family! The creek and grounds were amazing. We enjoyed the property, playing in the creek, eating meals on the covered porch, etc... It is tucked away and very private. Cell service and wifi were iffy at best, but we appreciated the chance to unplug. The cabin itself is rustic and cozy. The surrounding countryside is beautiful
