I stayed in Dec 2023. Host Herb was so nice and accommodating. The place is everything you want in NOLA. So charming and cozy. I loved my stay and will recommend to anyone heading to NOLA. It is away from the hustle of the Quarter which was exactly what I was looking for.

Herb was a welcoming host for our 4-night stay in New Orleans. The property was an historic home in a safe neighborhood. Herb provided everything we needed for a great stay. We were 1 mile from the City Park, NOMA, Trolly to the French Quarter snd much more. We did a day trip to Chalmett, snd thoroughly enjoyed the area.

We could not have picked a more perfect place to stay. If we make it back to New Orleans we would stay here every time. A very spacious vrbo with everything you need-including a very sweet, knowledgeable host. He even went out of his way to drive us to the French Quarters the first night we were there, saving us fare for an Uber or cab! He gave us personal advice for must-do’s including the ham and cheese croissant at Leo’s Bakery-recommended strongly! Very safe location, decent prices instead of price gouging! Thank you Herb! Loved our stay!

This property is amazing, and exactly as pictured except the pictures don’t do it justice in terms of how nice it is. The house is incredibly charming and comfortable. The backyard is beautiful and so relaxing, and the neighborhood is extremely cool as the Esplanade Ridge area is about as classic New Orleans as you can get.
With all that being said, it is really the host that brings it to a whole different level. Herb is an engaging, knowledgeable, caring host who goes way above and beyond to provide a great stay for his guests. It was an absolute treat to meet Herb and stay at his place. From now on, Herb’s place will be my first choice in New Orleans. Thanks, Herb…see you next time.

It was the perfect place to stay for an authentic experience in New Orleans.
Central to everything, and Herb was incredibly helpful with dining suggestions in the area as well as music, arts, history, whatever the interest. One of the best vacations we have ever had. The guest home and our host Herb had that New Orleans charm/vibe that is so unique in the very best way.
We will definitely be returning in the future!

He is a wealth of information on all things New Orleans!The studio was clean, had loads of character and first class appointments! His lush backyard was a respite in the city.We would love to stay again.

Had a great week staying at Herb’s place. He is a great host who lives upstairs and is available for any issues but also respects your privacy. Several times he provides some kitchen supplies we asked for so we didn’t have to buy them for onetime use. Wonderful garden area in the back was great for hanging out in the late afternoon to cool down. Located in a nice quiet neighborhood, $8-10 UBER rides to the French Quarter. Would gladly come again.

Located in Mid-City right off of Esplanade and within walking distance to a complete grocery store, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and nearby city transportation via bus .
You will enjoy Herb's back yard as it is like walking in to your own botanical garden that includes paths and various sitting areas.
Herb is an awesome host who gives attention to detail and his guest.
We've stayed with Herb numerous times over the years and he keeps us coming back !!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner is a very interesting fellow who had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do, and was really able to give us a great deal of history of New Orleans as well as the neighborhood, which was very nice and felt safe. There were several excellent places to eat within walking distance. The studio itself was well laid out and had everything we needed and then some. The owner seems to have thought of everything. A nop-notch host for sure. The access to the private courtyard had us both saying "Jumanji" as there was a ton of lush vegetation and water features, along with multiple sitting areas. We definitely look forward to staying here again for our next trip to New Orleans.

Herb was an excellent host... he met us for check in and walked us through the apartment. Since we were in New Orleans celebrating our engagement, he even left a bottle of wine and glasses out for us!
The apartment was comfy, clean and tastefully decorated with (subtle) New Orleans character. Street parking was very easy, and the surrounding Esplanade Ridge neighborhood is beautiful with great restaurants, City Park and a quick drive to anywhere in New Orleans. Herb is happy to offer recommendations as well. 10/10 would totally stay again.

Great stay in a cozy downstairs section of a beautiful home and neighborhood. Short drive or Uber to all the fun spots (French Quarter, Frenchmen Street, warehouse district, etc). Herb was a great host ready with recommendations and full of knowledge of the. area and New Orleans.in general. Highly recommend staying here if you plan to go to NOLA!

This was our second stay at Esplanade Ridge. Herb is a fantastic host and always points us in the direction of where the locals dine. The space is clean, cozy, and charming. We will be back for a third stay! 5 Stars across the board!

We totally enjoyed our stay in the lovely Saint John Bayou neighborhood. The apartment was beautifully furnished; eating and drinking establishments within walking distance were excellent and fun to explore; and our host was very knowledgeable and happy to share his obvious love of the city, it's people and culture.

The overall appearance is eclectic. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need. It’s just right for two people. Cleanliness is less than stellar. It needs a good spring cleaning of curtains, blinds and perhaps some dusting. Floors, bed and bathroom were clean.

This place was so cute and homey. I loved it! There was a bonus feature, which was the backyard hangout spot. Parking was easy. If I’m not staying with family, I am staying here when I come to New Orleans.

We enjoyed our stay so much! Herb was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated the welcome basket full of snacks and wine and I loved the fact that I felt safe walking the neighborhood alone. There is a coffee shop half a black away and lots of very nice restaurants just past that.
Everyone I encountered on my walks was extremely friendly. I have been to New Orleans a lot but this is my new favorite neighborhood. I cannot say enough about the courtyard. It was more like a jungle with lots of seating areas and tropical flowers. There are tiki torches and even a fan to help make it more comfortable. I recommend highly!

Herb was a great host. Met us upon arrival with music going in the house, fruit and snacks on the table. The vibe was cozy and welcoming. The location was great far enough away from the bustle of the quarter but close enough to get there several times throughout the day. My family and I enjoyed our time immensely and would stay with Herb again. Love love the garden area. My husband and I spent most of our time there. Thanks Herb!

Herb’s oasis is a must
Herb is an amazing host. The property is well maintained. We enjoyed the eclectic vibe of the home and spent two evenings getting lost in wine and his beautiful garden filled back yard oasis. 15 minute drive to anywhere we chose to enjoy in the city. The neighborhood is safe, streets are lined with beautiful home. Enjoy an early morning or later afternoon walk. Will stay here again.

Don't miss Cafe Degas, a walk down Esplanade, and a cup of coffee or a glass of the welcome-gift wine with Herb, who is truly a treasure in a city we want to enjoy for as long as we can!

Love the property, Herb was very nice and helpful. Very knowledgeable able the area, where to eat visit etc. We would highly recommend his place to our friends and family.

The perfect spot for a weekend getaway! Mr. Herb was a great host. A unique studio apartment in a safe neighborhood. The location is walkable to several great restaurants and a quick Uber ride to the French Quarter and Superdome. We would love to stay here again!

Herb and his Esplanade Bungalow are a Gift
Herb and his Esplanade bungalow have made for the perfect Nola experience. This is no exaggeration. The accommodations were so comfortable and thoughtfully curated, from decorations to chocolates and drinks provided when we arrived. The garden in the back is amazing!!! It’s like a mini-botanical garden!!!
The location is, for my money, the best you can do in the city. A breezy, colorful 1.5 mile walk to the French Quarter down esplanade. A mile in the opposite direction and you are at Nola City Park home of such an amazing sculpture garden. On the way, just a half mile from the place are amazing local dining options (romantic and casual) and St Louis Cemetery 3 - one of Nola’s famous cemetery’s (notably, it can be toured for free on your own).
Finally, there is the Host. Herb is a gentleman and a font of Nola knowledge. We took all his advice and ended up at the best parades, concerts, and venues that we likely would have otherwise overlooked or missed.
Such a delightful stay. Thanks Herb! We’ll be back!

Amazing place with with a great Nola feeling
The house was amazing,the decor gave it that really defines New Orleans. Herb was great as well.Very welcoming and helpful. Greeted us with our keys and gave us a lot of good information along with some helpful history about the house and area and recommendations. We were only there for the night for a concert. But will be taking more time another date to stay there again and enjoy what this home has to offer and explore more of New Orleans. Thank you so much Herb!

First vacation with my honey
We enjoyed our stay in new Orleans every day was a new adventure. We used the RTA busses and street cars to get around made the vacation more enjoyable not worrying about parking down in the French quarter and garden district found some great hole in the wall restaurants all in all Herb was a great host had some good information to help us. Good location in a quiet neighborhood
