The house has everything you can think of…lots of room. However, it’s totally outdated and dirty and it needs to be gutted. It smells, there were lots of flies, the carpet had stains all over it. The bathrooms were yucky as well. The shower doors didn’t slide, kept getting stuck, and they were dirty. The slider doors were all dirty, screens were broken. The beds were somewhat comfortable but SOOO loud with every movement. All of the beds in the house did it! The house is right on the main road and right next to a hotel. Definitely not a secluded location. You hear the cars in the house - the speed limit is 25, but people are definitely doing double that. House didn’t provide TP or hand soap- things that have been provided in all of the other houses we’ve rented. The property management company was great - they called to check on us and when we complained they sent someone out to try to clean a little more, which we really appreciated. The house is an A frame with great views of the lake, but the sun shines in the house ALL afternoon!! It turns the house into an oven…no matter how cold you set the AC. The top windows should be tinted.
The lake is beautiful and HUGE. The house is on a little cove which is great so the kids could swim and kayak and paddle board. We rented water trampoline and the kids loved it. There is some lake grass in the water which was fine…the water is crystal clear!! Nice cool temps in august, warm enough for the water, and cool enough for camp fires

The home was beautiful and filled with all the amenities for an enjoyable stay. The lake and slope views were amazing, everything was as stated on the listing and we will definitely stay here again!

The management was not willing to work with us and told me to call the marina to see if I could get a refund. Terrible customer service -- you could have worked with us to figure something out. We're definitely reasonable people, and I think a small gesture would have been sufficient. We will not be back to one of their properties. The sheets were not very clean - I think they were washed, but probably could use a refresh.

We rented a boat for the weekend and were not able to use the dock. It would have been nice to know that the dock was not going to be available. The management was not willing to work with us and told me to call the marina to see if I could get a refund. Terrible customer service -- you could have worked with us to figure something out. We're definitely reasonable people, and I think a small gesture would have been sufficient. We will not be back to one of their properties. The house was great for our family trip to Deep Creek. We had plenty of towels for each person, and each bedroom and bathroom was nice and clean. The kitchen is well stocked, although the knives should be replaced because they are bent and/or getting dull. The house was really quiet too despite being close to a main road. I would suggest curtains or something to block out some sun on the main floor. Although it's definitely living up to its Sunny Boy name, sometimes the sunshine streaming in is a bit overwhelming for the AC. Part of the problem was that 2 of the 3 AC vents on the main floor were blocked by furniture. It was extremely useful having a laundry area with a washer and dryer, although the door to the closet was broken when we arrived. It was really nice to have some "oh we forgot items" such as dishwasher detergent, sponge, paper towels, toilet paper, and bathroom soaps already there when we arrived. The grocery store is so conveniently located to the house, literally a 2 minute drive. A few boat rental places nearby were great too. A convenient gas station was also nearby which made going home a bit easier since we didn't have to hunt around for a station. The house is 5-15 minutes away from all sorts of awesome places to visit including Lakeside creamery (amazing ice cream), Brenda's pizzeria, Simon Pearce Glass Factory, Oakland farmers market, Swallow Falls State Park, Deep Creek State Park, Herrington Manor, Firefly Farms, and others. Overall the house was great, would absolutely recommend to friends and family to enjoy a very reasonably priced but worthwhile home to rent on vacation.

Stayed at Sunny Boy for a long weekend to attend my sons graduation from WVU. It was conveniently located with easy and quick access to 68. The house was perfect for our stay. We enjoyed the deck, pier and hot tub for a relaxing time. The large kitchen table was great to accommodate our large family. It was great not to have to take towels or linens with easy check in/ out. House was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Sunny Boy! We came early April hoping for sunshine and fishing but was hit with snow instead. That was our only disappointment. The property was very nice and spacious. It is well sticked with everything you need to have a wonderful time. The view of the lake is beautiful. Check in/out was extremely easy and convenient. The staff i spoke to very nice and helpful. Sunny Boy is in a great location but it needs some TLC and many updates. The pots and pans are disgusting and need to be replaced. The TV all need to be replaced with newer models. The gas grill did not work. Most of the furniture needs to be replaced in the basement and living room. Replacement of these items would make this a most desirable place to vacation. Upkeep on a rental is necessary as a cost of doing business. The owner can write the items off on their taxes so make the choice to be a top notch rental.

We recently stayed at Sunny Boy during a very rainy weekend. The house was in a great lcation and was as described. The lifesaver was having access to the pool at GCCARC. We were able to make 4 little girls happy! The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, and pans. We appreciated that there were small items ready for us such as trial size dish detergent, tissues and a dish washer tab. We had brought ours, but it was nice to know if we hadn't we were covered until a trip to the store could be made. The beds were made and towels were ready for us. Having stayed in this house before, my opinion is that it is showing some age - nothing that interfered with our stay, but some cabinets and shower heads need to be fixed/replaced. Overall, it is still a great place to stay.

The only recommendations I would make today owners are to get a larger TV in the living room and better TV and all the bedrooms. But the house met all our needs and the views of the slopes were great. We have already booked for next year. My partner and our dog plus my son and his family spent Christmas holiday at Sunny Boy. It was absolutely beautiful waking up every morning to the view of the lake and especially after the complimentary snowfall on Christmas Day. The house was spotless and had everything we needed. Lots of clean, fluffy towels and comfy beds. Two fireplaces and lots of room for the dog (a black lab) to explore. We didn't want to leave!!

The view from the deck was beautiful. Did not like the parking pad on such a busy road. Loved the outlay of the house. We had several light bulbs that were out through out the house. The pool table in the lower level should have lights directly above the table.

Wonderful, relaxing, beautiful vacation home. We have been coming to DCL for vacation for more than 10 years. Sunny Boy is the perfect house for a relaxing summer lake vacation. Being able to hang out on the private dock and fish well into the evening is one of main reasons we keep coming back to Summy Boy.

Our family and friends had a terrific time, across the board. Seems like we did everything from enjoy the house, the dock, boating, and tubing. Additionally, and make no mistake, we enjoyed the sites, and a kayak tour. We also made our yearly pilgrimage to Honi Honi, plus discovered Honey's Pawn Run out on Boy Scout Road (that place was cool). We'll be back for sure!! Now for the review of the house: Sunny Boy Loved the location, the house is much bigger than what appears from the street view. Loved the long yard and the easy slope down to the water. We rented a boat, so the Marina being so close was a plus. Beautiful view too. The living room gets REALLY hot in the afternoon sun due to the large bay window, but that wasn't a big deal. The windows around the the sliding glass doors leaked during the heavy rains (the hardwood will suffer due to this leak). The hot tub is old, and is visibly worn. The deck is wood, and needs refinished. The dock needs to be power washed, the mold build up makes it VERY slippery during the time the dock is wet form water activities and rain. Lots of spider webs all over the place, kids didn't like that at all. The facet in the kitchen is worn and needs replaced, plus the the kitchen just needs a little updating, I know its a rental, but its time. A major shout out to the Taylor Made staff, during our stay!! That were "johnny on the spot" each time we had an issue, from a smoke detector needing a battery change, to the hot tub needing to be refilled!! Prompt and efficient every time.
