This is for sure a special place. The house is nicely built and furnished with fantastic views from every window.
Pictures do not do this property justice!
The private beach / cove is amazing and truly unique.
The views, the house, the location... All un-matched!
Having stayed at more than 30 rental houses and I can confidently say you will not regret staying on this property!

The home was even better than we expected. Ocean views all day, with a short walk to the private beach. The home was amazing, plenty of space for everyone to relax after a day of activities. The home had everything we would need and April was extremely responsive. We loved our time in Roques Bluff as we made it our base for visiting various spots along the coast and inland.

Our family had a wonderful time enjoying the incredible views and the beautiful beach. It was the most amazing family vacation we've had! The house was spacious and well-equipped. We would recommend this property without hesitation--definitely worth the drive!

Our yearly vacation to Washington County has never been so comfortable or easy! The communication from booking through trash pickup was timely and professional. Our family uses this vacation to relax and connect with nature and each other. Every review of this property will tell you the same thing… everything you want is in this house already. The details from the quality bedding to the well appointed kitchen is unparalleled. Don’t get me started on the view! I would recommend this home without hesitation.

This was an amazing vacation for our little family. The house and the property were just gorgeous- truly unique. We had everything we needed and more. The views from the house were stunning. The house was so special- a beautiful home. The property was situated in one of most beautiful parts of Maine. Our hosts were kind, accessible and easy to communicate with. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

Had a great week staying with family and friends at this wonderful property. Great views of the water once the fog lifted. Fun watching the wildlife on the property. The house was everything we hope and wish it would be,

We traveled with adult children and their grandmother. The home was perfect for our stay. It is remote and off of the touristy path, which is exactly what we wanted. We opened the windows and enjoyed the cool breeze in early July. We loved exploring the trails near the house and the rocky beach. We could not go to Maine without a lobster boil. We called ahead to a local fisherman and picked up 6 on the 4th of July, and later enjoyed them on the picnic table outside. The smaller kitchen table was perfect for cards and board games. We would love to come back!

Beautiful home nestled in private setting on serene waterfront property. Enjoyed coffee overlooking water, mornings on beach, deer spotting in yard, and nearby hike in Roque Bluffs State Park. Home was extremely comfortable!

We enjoyed a wonderful week at this beautiful, serene ocean/woods-side home. We spent many hours walking and reading on the rocks down at the cove. Beach access was easy for two of the three seniors at the house, the third made it using walking sticks (carefully). The stars and the milky way were spectacular, after the moon cooperated with rising a little later. The kitchen was well equipped. The wrap around porch accommodated seating in sun or shade, wet or dry. We enjoyed the well-stocked games and puzzles cupboard, and the many books around the house. The beds were comfortable, with plenty of pillows, blankets, comforters. For day trips we went to Quoddy Point and a few of its trails, Lubec, Jasper Beach, Machiasport, Machias and its museum at the old tavern, and Jonesport. A couple days we were glad to just “stay home”. I would highly recommend this lodging, and would be glad to come here again.

We had a great stay here exploring. Lots of space for the 6 of us to have space and spread out. The location was fantastic for all of our activities. We enjoyed the home very much and would definitely come again. The beach was amazing for tide pools, and beachcombing.

The house was perfect for us - two couples, no kids - as there were plenty of spaces (indoors and out) to spread out comfortably and yet come together for meals and conversation. We spent every evening on the deck, never tiring of the view. It was all that we had hoped for - and more. We loved being relatively close to Machias (grocery store, small wine shop) and yet far enough away to be able to unwind and relax. A highlight was the trip on Larry's lobster boat, followed by a dinner with lobsters caught on our tour! Highly recommend! As others have mentioned, cell service (and wifi) are somewhat slow or spotty, but that helped us relax, too!

Quiet Retreat with Awesome View
Great stay. Awesome view from Living Room and deck of the cove. Loved the sky and stars at night, watching the fog roll in and out, and the sound of the ocean waves lapping the rocks below. We were there with our adult kids and hiked a lot locally as well as two day trips to Acadia and one North to the Quoddy Lighthouse and the beautiful ocean trail there. Great communication with owner. House very spacious with everything we needed. A note for families with small kids that there are steep steps down to the cove beach area which has a lot of rocks and a small sand beach so you would need to help them down there and be there with them.

Beautiful home for family vacation
Amazing vacation destination for a family! Our kids had a great time playing on the beach and exploring the surroundings! Very private, we didn’t see anyone else on the beach even though it’s shared. Excellent hosts, super helpful and easy to communicate with. Definitely go out on the boat with Larry too! The home was clean and comfortable, pictures and descriptions were accurate! Limited cell service and the WiFi isn’t fast enough to support video calls, but we’ll be back for sure, just without conference calls scheduled next time!

You should absolutely stay here at least once in your life. Roque Bluff is remote, with very little to do. You won't be going out to eat or stressing about getting tickets for anything. But despite that, this property delivered a perfect relaxing get away. The house is so charming and well appointed with everything you will need during your stay. Our kids loved the loft! The views are even better than the pictures. We could just sit on the porch all day. Pro tip, the left porch by the office has the best view, a nice breeze and you can smell the roses. The highlight of the trip was a Lobster Boat tour with Larry. It's a must do. We caught lobsters, which we ate that night, we learned about Maine and lobstering, we saw seals and bald eagles, it was amazing. If you want action, this is not for you. If you want a tranquil place to read, play boardgames, play catch, throw rocks in the ocean with your kids or just explore nature, book this place today.

A beautiful property where we celebrated our 40th anniversary. Truly a special place over looking a quiet rocky cove. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. There was also a bottle of wine chilling in the refrigerator to help us celebrate! We met Larry, the property caretaker, who stopped by to make sure everything was working properly. Larry also offers tours of the area on his lobster boat which we enjoyed a great deal.......don't miss out on this tour. We checked some of his lobsters traps and brought home two big lobsters and 7 Jonah crabs. It was about 30 minutes from out of the ocean to on our plate. Just below the house is a private rocky beach which we had all to ourselves with long distance views out to the ocean and all kinds of surf polished rocks for collecting. There were also a lot of deer in the neighborhood and they came out at all hours grazing with in a few feet of the deck. Deer in the foreground, then pine trees framing a beautiful ocean view. Very quiet at night and we could watch the moon rise over the water. The only noise is the splashing of waves over the rocky shore. Then the next morning a fantastic sunrise. The house is completely equipped for all your needs lots of supplies on hand for your use in the refrigerator and pantry,

The pictures of the view do not do it justice. It would never get old. We fell asleep each night listening to the waves rolling up to the beach. There are steps leading down to the beautiful beach.
The house was immaculate and beautiful. It has the most comfortable beds!
We were there to celebrate our anniversary and was welcomed with a bottle of wine. -Thank you so much April!
We loved our stay! We hope to come back soon.

Great Family Getaway
Stayed here in late August with my wife and our 4 young children (ages 2-8). Listing was as promised. Reviews are all accurate. We had plenty of space. As our youngest is still in a crib we were so happy to have a pack n play available for her. House was very clean. Kitchen had everything we needed.
Machias was a short drive away and the grocery store there had everything we needed for snacks and meals. We tried a number of the restaurants in town also. Location for us was perfect as we felt secluded but still had everything a reasonable drive away.
We ended up spending pretty much our entire trip at the house as we had no reason to leave. We spent hours on the beach and did not see another person out there the entire time. The kids climbed the rocks, searched for shells and rocks on the beach, splashed in the waves and at low tide we found ourselves having races in our bare feet on a sandy portion of the beach.
Highlight of the trip was having Larry take us out on the boat. A must if you have kids. He was so great with them. Let them all have a turn at driving the boat and talked them through the instruments. Pulled up lobster cages for us and the kids had a lot of fun holding some crabs and a hermit crab along with lobster. He explained to them how to measure the lobster and make sure they were legal and then they all got a chance to band the claws. For a family from the Midwest it was so great to give the kids an ocean to table experience like that. The picture of our family sitting outside at the picnic table with our lobster dinner laid out is priceless.
Highly recommended for a laid back trip with the family.

Book it!
If you are here, reading these reviews, my advice is simple: stop reading and book this property before someone else does.
Clean, room for lots of people, a private cove to explore, getting away from it all - you can't ask for more.
Some not to be missed activities in this part of Maine: Diver Ed's Dive In Theater out of Eastport is a MUST DO. Unique, fun, best money I've ever spent on a tour. Absolutely have Larry take you out on his lobster boat for a few hours one day. He picks you up just down the road past the state park, and you will have a wonderful time sightseeing the islands, seeing how a lobster fisherman does his job, maybe even seeing some seals like we did! Also, don't miss the beach at the state park nearby. Close enough for a quick trip for a few hours.
The home is very much as advertised here. Lots of space, clean, AMAZING views. The beach is incredible, with sandy areas for playing at low tide. We watched seals in the cove, and watched bald eagles fishing. Just amazing.
I'd go back in a heartbeat. I hope you love it as much as we did!

Perfect House for Maine Getaway
This was our first visit to Maine and we absolutely loved it. This house is perfect and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There aren't many restaurant options nearby but the kitchen is well appointed and we happily cooked all our own meals. The private beach (basically the backyard) was gorgeous. Technically other houses can also use this beach but we never saw anybody there so it is LITERALLY a private beach. There are also a few gorgeous beaches nearby (Roque Bluffs and Jasper beach are well worth your time). The nearby area is gorgeous and we saw loads of wildlife in the yard - deer, raccoon, etc. Perfect family getaway!

A magical place
This was our second year visiting Roque Bluffs, and we are so grateful to have had another chance to experience this magical place. Our kids (ages 3 and 5) love exploring the rocks and visiting the nearby beaches and trails. The house is perfect, and we had so much fun gathering there with our family. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us again, April!

Easy, comfortable, clean, beautiful rental. The place was magnificent. Your own private cove with sand beach at low tide. The house had everything and more than you would ever need. All the kitchen supplies ever needed, bathroom supplies, towels, lindens, you name it, it was there (beach towels, beach chairs, grills, lobster supplies, etc.) The area is also magical. 5 minutes away is Roque Bluffs state park where there is a beautiful sand beach, freshwater pond, great hiking trails and even wild blueberries to pick. Jasper Beach is only 20 minutes away and is a special place to visit. We fell in love with the area. The closest restaurants and conveniences are 15 minutes away, so if you are looking for a place to get away from it all, you will find it here. April also was very responsive, also thanks to my man Larry! Side note: heated floors and a great fireplace made it extra cozy for us all! Thanks!!

This is a great house. Six of us stayed her for 8 nights. It can be blustery in this partof the world but there were lots of blankets, if needed ,and the house is very well built to protect from rain or cold. The view is stunning and the location is far enough North in Maine that the fishing villlages all feel very authentic and non touristy. Helens in Machias is a great restaurant. Their cinnamon buns on Saturday are incredible. Lots of great hiking in that part of Maine but also 1.5 hours to the South in Acadia. Really a wonderful house and a wonderful part of Maine. Fantastic house.

This home is perfect for a relaxing and quiet family vacation. The views of the cove and night time sky are magnificent. My family enjoyed collecting rocks on the private beach and being one with nature. We had an issue with the water heater on our arrival but April was quick to respond and the issue was taken care of promptly. Larry, the property care taker, provided us with an informative lobster boating experience and we feasted on freshly caught lobster for dinner that evening.. We also had the opportunity to explore Acadia National Park which is about an hour and a half away and absolutely amazing! Overall, we had a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend.

April was a wonderful host who responded quickly to all of our questions. Her home is perfect , in a quiet and stunning location. Enjoying the private beach there every day with our kids was fantastic! There’s a wonderful selection of books and you have everything you could need to be comfortable there. Having coffee in the mornings while enjoying the views and hearing the waves crash against the rocks was lovely. We also enjoyed watching all the stars at night from the master bedroom balcony. Larry was also very friendly and brought us fresh lobster that was absolutely delicious! Couldn’t ask for more in a home and location!! Miss it already!
