I’ve been coming to bear valley for a long time and by far this place is our favorite stay there. The hosts are communicative and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay.

Owner and property manager were awesome - went above and beyond for us- We will return hopefully for many times to come to enjoy with our family.

We had a lovely winter stay at the cabin in Bear Valley. Some days we went skiing, but also had a nice time staying inside and sledding near the house (and enjoying the hot tub). We would definitely come back.

Well communicated before we arrived. The cabin did a lot updated since 2018 we stayed. Absolutely enjoy our time there! Definitely recommend to anyone :)

As usual, this cabin was wonderful. Missed the big snow, but otherwise it was a wonderful week.

We always have a great time at Terry's cabin!

Couldn’t use deck, house was dirty, couldn’t check in until 6P as the house was obviously being cleaned for the first time, cobwebs 1.5 bath not 2… lost goes on…

Very dirty home that smelled like cat pee. There was so much trash and junk in the yard- broken furniture, broken snow toys, broken tools, and literal trash was all around the house. Decks are not functional at all and very dangerous to be on. We were surprised that the complaints in previous reviews (some from July 2021) have not yet been updated. I am reporting this property to VRBO. I would never stay here again.

Memorial Day and still about 5 feet of snow. Our 3rd time in this cozy cabin. Very well-equipped kitchen, fireplace with cozy couches, and most of all, the hot tub that still worked through this brutal winter. the 2 main beds are comfortable but the small pull-out couch upstairs could use some extra padding. Showing up in the winter can be a trying experience so leave time for some delays (usually involving the snowmobile). But that is what you get to be high up in this beautiful paradise. We'll stay at this cabin again.

The communication was not the best. When we booked the property we were not aware that it was not accessible by car and only by snowmobile. A thank you for booking my property introduction email from the owner would have been nice but it didn’t come until 5 days before our stay. We were very confused by the snowmobile access and thought we would use ours since we were here for the RMSHA race but once we realized our snowmobiles needed to be at the race site which was in the ski area we let the host know we did in fact need his snowmobile. This message was sent 5 days before we arrived. When we arrived the snowmobile was not where it was suppose to be. The transit center told us spot 262 had been empty for over a year. We were unable to get a hold of the caretaker Charli was very unresponsive. Terry told us to call her with an ETA. She did not answer any text or call from my husband and I for hours. We didn’t even get into the place until almost 7pm because we had no idea if it was ready or not. I had to call VRBO for assistance and Terry didn’t even answer them when they called. Unfortunately nothing else was available so the transit center loaned us a snowmobile with a trailer free of charge. Once we got into the place the heat didn’t work. Took until the next morning to get it working(kinda) shuts off every 10 minutes or so. There was no hot tub. If there was it was covered in snow. Multiple cats all over outside of the property. The place was dirty. Laundry in the washer that was wet. Laundry in the dryer not put away. Dust and dirt everywhere. I am even questioning if the sheets were washed. More then 1/2 of the outlets don’t work either. Heated floors in bathroom don’t work. You don’t need a code to enter property as the back door is unlocked… this place needs some TLC and a better house cleaner. Also electrical outlet in the downstairs bedroom off wall.

We loved our stay at Terry's cabin this winter. We went for spring break, which given 2023 craziness, was full winter with deep snowpack.
The cabin is really lovely and a perfect design for us. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked, cozy TV nook upstairs. Everything was clean. Very well stocked books and magazines.
Charlie was a lovely caretaker of the home and host. She picked us up on time, helped us with the snowmobile, and was responsive on text (when connectivity was allowed)
Getting to the house on snowmobile is super fun! We really appreciate being able to use it during our stay (it doesnt seem other listings provide that) It might take a few trips to transport your luggage and people, but that was very fun for me!
The setting is gorgeous. We love how isolated it feels - we would rarely see people in the neghborhood.
This was perfect for our family of 4. 8 could fit, but it might get a little loud. We enjoy a little adventure and challenge, and enjoy being in a more natural environment. If you want everything easy or posh, or don't like the idea of snowmobiles, it might not be for you.

Our stay did not go very well, although Terry, the owner, was very communicative. The caretaker, Charlei, was impossible to get a hold of and consistently came up with excuses for why she was not available. The home was not clean at all--cobwebs up high we expect in a cabin, but at face level in the kitchen, not so much. Thick dust covered most surfaces, with hair/dustballs in all of the corners. There are cats that live in the house (not in the description) to control the rodents. We expect cabins to have some mice, but controlled--there was a container under the trashcan in the kitchen for "mouse evidence" that was full. The house smells of cigarette smoke. Our dogs went crazy smelling the cats and hearing them. There was not bedding for the twin pull-out bed. We made do with some extra sheets we found downstairs; both closets have things just thrown in them, so you have to hunt for pillowcases etc. Many of the lamps are broken or without bulbs. I tried to put in new bulbs in the chandelier, it had about an inch of cobweb/dust on it. The puzzles are missing pieces, the card decks are missing cards. The space heater does not work. The hot tub was cloudy/murky and did not have a filter in--several were thrown into the snow bank, but were dirty. I spent an hour cleaning one and sanitizing the hot tub so that we could use it. The furnace would not turn on and stay on and then would only blow cool air. There was not firewood. Snowmobile was junk. Avoid for now

We had a wonderful time at Terry’s house! Getting there on the snowmobile was such a fun adventure and Charlei was very helpful in getting us to the house. She had baby-proofed the stairs which was so kind and made us feel right at home. There’s even a high chair there. Charlei made sure the hot tub was working too. Beds were comfy and we had everything we needed. FYI- the laundry is down below the living room where the cats live and you get to it through a trap door in the floor so not easy to access. We hope to come back again soon for another winter adventure!

Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids plus our dog stayed comfortably in this cabin. There was plenty of space for us and our dog. The 2 bedrooms have comfortable beds. The kitchen has what is needed to prepare a meal and the refrigerator was clean and big enough to store all our food. There is a wonderful wood burning fireplace that we used everyday. We were provided the wood and matches to get it going. Charei the house manager was so very helpful to us. She met us upon arrival and helped us load all our belongings onto the snowmobile. Then she led us up the hill to show us the way to the house. Our dog ran next to the snowmobile all the way up to the house. Charlei was even mindful of our dog when she got a bit tired and needed a rest. The house does have a hot tub, but it was buried under many feet of snow. Charlei cleared the snow away to be sure we could use it. The location of this house is sooo beautiful to enjoy the snow. We just walked out the door and the kids used the sleds on the hills next to the house. There are some snowshoes to use, and we went for a walk around the neighborhood in them. All in all, I would recommend a winter visit to this cabin if you get the chance. And thank you Charlei for your hospitality!

My family and I were just in Bear Valley and although, our trip was partially thwarted by the recent snowstorm, we still really enjoyed our time at this property. The property host was very communicative and clearly wanted us to have an enjoyable time. The cabin was the perfect size for my family and large breed dog. We appreciated that the wifi was reliable despite the power outages that were reported around the area, especially since the snow storm kept us indoors for more than we had anticipated.
The neighborhood is beautiful and using a snowmobile to get to the property was a fun adventure for us. We look forward to visiting again in the future!

We arrived BV after a big snow storm that turned this into a winter wonderland. The snowmobile rides were a lot of fun albeit a bit challenging if you are not used to driving one. The location is perfect for fun in the snow just out the door. The cabin is comfortable with plenty of logs to keep the fireplace going. It may not be a 5-star hotel but all in all was a good choice for our ski trip.

Charlei, the property manager was so helpful it made our trip go smoother. This is our second stay at the property and last time we never even got to meet her, but this time we imposed on her a lot. The house is perfect for a snow get away with your puppy!

Loved being up there in the clouds! High elevation and lots of snow. The cabin felt like home upon entering . We had a large group and it worked out perfectly. Can’t wait to go back .

We really enjoyed our stay at Terry's chalet in Bear Valley! It's a wonderful place to be any time of year. Booking was quick and easy and both Terry and the local caretaker Charlei were responsive and helpful with any questions. Great location within the village for access to the lake, trails, the village and views. Epic stargazing

The cabin needs lots of safety repairs outside, the inside was not the cleanest, windows were filthy

Loved trelaxing on the deck. The kitchen is well stocked. Plenty of room for a family with two teens. Comfy beds. Lots of couch space and a huge dining room table! It's spaced away from neighbors to give you that "camp" feeling.

Quaint Cabin
There was a little hiccup with the keys falling off the hutch, but host was very responsive in us trying to find them. Turns out the keys had just fallen underneath the hutch and all was well. I appreciated the timely responses while we trouble-shooted where the keys might be. Cabin was clean and cute!

Great Location to Bear Lake
Terry, owner and Charlei, property manager were great to work with. Very communicative, and easy to work with. The layout of the cabin was great for our family, and had everything we needed.

Awesome cabin…but…
I am not a picky person and can overlook a lot (especially in an older cabin in mountains). Started with us arriving around 5:30 (check in time 4) with what looked like a homeless camp of trailer and trucks and debris all over front of property. I guess this was the property management people? We’re super sketchy. House seemed clean, but nachos left in microwave, dishwasher full, dryer full, washer full of wet clothes. Beds upstairs had food wrappers, and literal dirt on sheets. Not to mention the 2 trapped kittens in lower room meowing! Serious mice issues as well. Droppings on almost every surface I was constantly cleaning. Hubby contacted owner and all we were given was, “sorry they were there fixing lock”. The cabin is super cool, but in need of basic maintenance.

Great value, location for mountain activities. Nice Kitchen and great room!

Sierra relaxation
A great week of relaxation, hiking, and kayaking with our dog. Thank you!

Poor cleanliness
The furniture was very dated. There was an old cotton love seat that was outside on the top deck that was all ripped up. There was food partials in the refrigerator, floor, and inside the utensil drawers. Fireplace was full of ashes and had dirt on the mental. Dog hair all over the carpet. Back porch was full of ashes and trash that someone left behind. The house cleaner said she would be back at 8am to clean it, but didn't show up until 3pm. Which meant that we could not use it until it was cleared. I would not come to this property again. The listing price is not worth what you get.

Really going to miss this place.
I’ve rented many properties through my life and this by far has been the best return on my investment. Great owner, amazing property manager. Incredible location. Unfortunately we are moving to the other side of the country but do hope I can rent this place again in the future.

Thank you SO much for all your help Charlei and Terry, we will definitely be back for another visit!!

Surrounded by snow
What a great escape. Leaving the car behind for a snowmobile really brought the fully immersive winter experience. We made a big fire, played games and ate hot pie out of the oven. With WiFi we still had a connection to the outside, but we needed it less with all the other comforts.
