Esta encantadora casa fue construida en 2013 por propietarios / arquitectos en terrenos que han estado en su familia durante más de 100 años. Inspirados por la belleza y la simplicidad del diseño escandinavo y la belleza natural de la costa de Maine, los propietarios han creado cuatro estructuras separadas que son una mezcla de lo antiguo y lo nuevo.
La casa principal (860 pies cuadrados) sirve como centro y centro de reuniones y actividades. Tiene el dormitorio principal, baño completo, espacio de oficina pequeña y un área abierta de sala / comedor / cocina. Fuera de la cocina hay una despensa / lavandería, así como una sala de barro.
La casa de temporada completa fue diseñada para comprometerse completamente con el exterior. Un tramo de escaleras que baja de la cubierta principal de la casa lleva a la "casa de baños". Originalmente, este pequeño edificio estaba ubicado en la Casa Olson donde vivía Christina (del "Mundo de Christina") con su hermano Álvaro. Álvaro lo llevó a Bird Point, donde se colocó a la cabeza de Kissing Cove como una casa de baños a principios de los años treinta. Desde entonces, el edificio se ha trasladado tres veces más a su ubicación final donde se encuentra hoy.

Un sendero cubierto de hierba conduce hacia abajo cerca del agua, donde se encuentra la "Cabina de Marianna". Esta cabina de temporada dulce duerme dos. Hay una pequeña área de estar y mostrador de cocina donde se pueden preparar comidas sencillas. La cabina tiene un inodoro de compost y una pequeña cubierta donde esperamos instalar una ducha exterior este verano.
A quince pies de la cabaña de Marianna y en una pequeña pendiente, se encuentra una playa privada de guijarros / arena, ¡una rareza en la costa de Maine! La playa está rodeada de maravillosas rocas planas de granito donde las mareas, a menudo de seis pies, van y vienen trayendo tesoros marinos todos los días. La playa es totalmente privada y es un lugar fantástico para nadar, jugar, relajarse, hacer kayak y simplemente pasar el rato.

Everything about the house and property were wonderful — even bigger and better than the photos. The location is magical and breathtaking. The house and its many features are stylish and comfortable. Communication with the hosts was very easy and friendly. We simply loved our two weeks and hope to return!

Beautiful property!
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It is extremely well maintained and was cleaned thoroughly. The owners left a fantastic binder full of activities in the area. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous, Inside and Out
The property itself is absolutely beautiful...so Maine. The water, the landscaping, a little garden, grassy area for yard games, and all just a short walk up the road to the historic and beautiful Olsen House property (where Andrew Wyeth spent summers and is buried). It felt like our own little paradise. We even got fresh lobster off the boat at Bird Point. The main house and cabins were also fabulous. So clean and organized with high quality furnishings and decor. Not a typical rental property! We took care to respect it all so others could enjoy it after us. The only drawback was that the Bath House roof was moist and it was therefore musty inside. With a fan and some sunny days, it got slightly better through the week, and one heavy sleeper teen from our group tolerated it, but It could be a hang up for others. All in all, absolutely amazing!

We were 8 adults so it was marvellous to have the option of so much space to spread out and then the gorgeous main house to eat and sit together. Just about anything you need is already there.
The scenery and tranquility was amazing for us city dwellers.
Highly recommended and would love to return.
The owners were responsive and very helpful.

We were 4 adults and 3 small children sharing Joan and Bill’s gorgeous property for a week in August. We were very comfortable using only the main house and the annex and honestly, felt greedy not sharing this fantastic home with others! So much care was taken in every detail it shows how much Joan and Bill really love this home
Every morning we woke to the sound of lobster boats going by on the St. George river and spent our evenings on the beach toasting marshmallows at the bonfire on the beach. We walked to the Olson house and enjoyed its beautiful grounds. The kids spent hours running around in the yard, collecting shells on the shore and building fairy houses.
It’s a very quiet secluded area (which we LOVED) with Midcoast Maine’s busier charming towns within a 30-40 minute drive. There’s also an excellent playground 10 minutes away that our 5 year olds had a blast playing at.
We normally avoid screen time on vacation but the projector and big screen were a special treat for the kids AND grownups! They have tons of dvds to choose from.
We had minimal issues but if anything came up Joan was just a text or call away and quick to respond.
We are really hoping we have the opportunity to go back again and again.

We were 4 adults and 3 small children sharing Joan and Bill’s gorgeous property for a week in August. We were very comfortable using only the main house and the annex and honestly, felt greedy not sharing this fantastic home with others! Wonderful stay on Bird Point!
Joan and Bill's house was exactly what my family and I were looking for and provided the perfect spot for our family vacation. We were a total of 9 adults and 3 small children altogether and the property allowed both opportunities for everyone to spend time together as well as to spread out when needed. This made it easy for the adults to spend time together while the young children napped or were sleeping, for example.
In addition to the layout working well for our group, we loved the outdoor space at this house. We brought a couple of kayaks and paddle boards and had a blast both in the water and just hanging out on the beach. The porch was the perfect spot for a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening and we all enjoyed sitting outside and watching the activity of the lobster boats throughout the day.
Joan and Bill's house was also ideally located for those who are looking for privacy but also want the convenience of being able to get to a major town (such as Rockland) in 30 minutes or less. You can purchase lobsters at the dock about a mile from the house, pick blueberries in a sizable field a short walk from the house, and take a short drive to Langlais Sculpture Preserve, which features the work of Maine artist Bernard Langlais. Joan and Bill left a binder filled with great recommendations of other activities in the area and were available by phone if needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at Joan and Bill's beautiful house and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay on the Maine coast!
