Well kept old farmhouse with many antique furnishings and decorations that make the home unique and charming. Loved the enclosed porch for games, the living room for reading and the large deck for dinners and spectacular sunsets. Enjoyed walking into town to catch the ferry, sit on the docks with a coffee or sandwich or ice cream, grab dinner, and visit the galleries.

Despite a few antique house related quirks, we had a GREAT week in Port Clyde! The deck and view are just lovely (tho' I'd love a chaise for napping ;) ) and we LOVED the proximity to both the wonderful village and beautiful Drift Inn beach. There was plenty of room for us and our two dogs and the side yard was great for our corn-hole game (tho' we would have loved walking trails in the back of the house towards the water). It was great to have two full bathrooms. One of the toilets was a little tricky, but Veronika was quick to have maintenance take a peek and it was straighted out while we were out enjoying the sights. The smoke alarms started to chirp while we were there but after a little clarification, Veronika had that quickly taken care of, too. The bedding was clean and comfy but the beds were a little soft for us. The view from the back bedroom is gorgeous! We stayed comfy with fans and windows open ... the breezes and lovely ocean scent were divine. Internet was fast and reliable and the TV worked well for the occasional rainy evening. Hubby had to work and he was comfy in the game room. The kitchen is super well stocked and we had all our breakfasts and several lunches and dinners there, too. Beautiful new fridge, dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave and two ways to make coffee! The antique stove is super cool. We enjoyed a great dinner at The Black Harpoon restaurant (definitely try the Scallops Rockefeller) and the wonderful view from The Dip Net; had an awesome Puffin nature cruise (saw puffins, guillemot, bald eagle, seals, and Harbor porpoise!) and an amazing paddle (rentals at Port Clyde Kayaks) full of wildlife. We also really enjoyed Rockland and hubby was thrilled with his bi-plane ride at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. Overall, we had a great trip in mid-coast Maine and would recommend this stay.

We absolutely love this old house! The kitchen was new but made to look like the 1800's. Fully stocked with really high quality pots, pans and utensils. The stone sink was so cool and original. Best Kitchen to cook in and have lobsters! The porch had beautiful 6 LL Bean rocking chairs and a LL Bean table that also seated 6. It overlooked a beautiful field where we saw a 2 Doe's, a buck and the last day a baby deer! The side yard had LL Bean adirondack chairs around a gas fire place which was really cool! Great place to play Corn Hole which was supplied. There was a great view of the Ocean from the front porch and even better from the upstairs bedroom. The only thing that I would suggest is less antique dishes and tea cups. That would give the renter more room for grocery's. Also, be aware that the shower is a original claw foot tub that is a bit tricky to get in and out of especially if you are older. The steps going upstairs were also a bit steep. Overall we just loved this place and will be back. Veronika the host, was super nice and very quick to respond to any concerns or questions.

A great location, and a nicely restored historic house. Kitchen was well equipped, and a convenient laundry room. The back deck with grill, and the fire pit are great. Would suggest an upgrade to the one shower available, would probably be difficult for seniors to make use of it.

We had such a lovely stay at the Sea Captain’s Daughters house. The house is nice and cozy and it’s in a great location. Close to really nice trailheads for those who like hiking. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and sitting by the fire pit taking in the views of the water. Lovely place and highly recommend it!

The kitchen is spacious for baking bread, steaming lobsters, and playing games around the kitchen table. Morning meadow views, sunsets, stars, and nature sightings are on the back deck with comfortable table and rockers. The shower and hot water system are to be reckoned with. For those with mobility concerns, the antique home has a steep staircase. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience.

This is a wonderful old house with a great deck and a beautiful view of sunsets on the water. It is in a great location, an easy walk into town and to the lighthouse. There are a couple upgrades that could really enhance the stay : having 2 full showers or an updated shower in the existing one (it was challenging to get in and out of the old claw foot tub); a doormat inside the door to keep the floors cleaner; and rockers in the bedrooms with solid bottoms so they are functional (you cannot sit on the current ones). But, the updated kitchen is great, and the beds are very comfortable. Overall, it was a terrific stay!

The place was very comfortable and we got a lot of use of the back deck enjoying the wildlife and view. Water in shower was persnickety but manageable. Would happily return if in the area (Port Clyde was small but worth visiting twice). Did not meet manager Veronica but with COVID especially, an isolated visit was just what we’d wanted.

The house is very well equipped and comfortable. A 10 min walk to town. Great kitchen and a large back deck affording ample privacy. The property manager and her team were exceptionally responsive and helpful! Highly recommend!

We watched deer in "the back forty" grazing early in the morning.. From the deck on the 4th of July we observed fireworks at five locations. W e tried not to miss the spectacular sunsets.

We were delighted with the vintage charm of the parlor, the personality of the well-equipped kitchen; the sunporch game room, where we worked jigsaw puzzles; the eighteen, matching outdoor chairs; the attractively decorated bedrooms; the bay views from every ocean-facing window, including "my" bedroom. We have found our Maine home away from home.

Sweet place with an old fashioned look and feel with a fully stocked kitchen. We had beautiful weather with just one day of rain. Lovely distant view of the ocean from the back porch with a beautiful ocean breeze. Bed comfortable and place clean. Rental agent helpful and quick to respond. Water closets sometimes fussy and hot water much too hot. Old fashioned tubs and steep stairs to second floor. Would not recommend to family with small children. I was disappointed that there weren't any board games! (there was a chess set)

Our family, from 3 year-olds through 70 year old very much enjoyed our stay at this house and location. Port Clyde is small, quiet, and charming. Local food was great, from the Dip Net to Hedgerow. It was easy to get lobsters, local cheeses and veggies, and local beers. The trips to Monhegan were magical (and easy! we could walk to the ferry from the house). Great beach nearby, walks to the lighthouse, and the "big city" of Rockland and all of its conveniences just a drive away. The breezes through the house kept us cool during a hot 2018 summer visit. The kitchen was pretty spectacular and the convenience of the washer/dryer were much appreciated. The enclosed porch was a good space for children and music practice and projects. The outdoor deck was delightful for reading and dining and spectacular sunsets. We might rent here next summer!

This house was both comfortable and very well-maintained. The kitchen had all the amenities and was easy to cook in (although a bit more lighting could come in handy at night). There were 3 of us and the existence of two full bathrooms was a real plus. Internet access was great. The host was kind enough to supply us with "starter items" (paper towels, etc.) for our arrival. Veronika was also very responsive and considerate whenever I had a question.This house has known a lot of history and we were curious to know more.. The area around Port Clyde is interesting, with the Wyeth legacy. and its access to Monhegan island. Beautiful area. We recommend this house highly!

Good location, walk to Port, drive to numerous towns. Besides Monhegan Ferry not much to do in Port Clyde, General Store there terrible service and most staff, although they try, don't speak English. Home is updated w/beautiful kitchen and good size bedrooms but baths are near impossible to mediate hot/cold water, yard is nice but no landscaping or fence. New gas grill was nice. Overall it's worth the $ but the faucet sitch needs to be addressed for a return visit.

What a great week we had! Best weather we ever had on a Maine vacation and the cottage was just right. We've rented in Port Clyde a few times before and love it there. The cottage was the most comfortable we have rented anywhere. Very well equipped, charming decor, REALLY comfortable beds, and clean as a whistle. The washer wasn't working so we emailed Veronika. She responded instantly, set us up to use the washer and dryer at the neighboring cottage, and had the washer fixed in no time. Everyone was very nice. My only suggestion would be an awning or umbrella on the back deck as it was so sunny:). We hope to come back next year! Thanks for a lovely week!

Walking distance to lighthouse, beach, town, ferry but still quiet and serene. Splendid back deck to watch sunset over field, trees, and harbor in distance. For birders - paradise! Woke to songs of phoebes, parula, black-throated green warbler, and many others. Clean and cozy home, lovely porch room for breakfast and coffee. And our dog loved it all too!!

The house is perfectly located, has a distant water view, was very clean and the management company was responsive to even minor requests. I stayed there 4 weeks and was very pleased with it. Perfect for 6 people with an extra room for someone to get away from any TV watchers, a small front yard for outdoor play with children. Am considering renting it again next year.

We have just returned home from an unforgettable week in Port Clyde staying at Frances House. Renting the cottage was a friendly, quick, and efficient experience. We arrived to a spotlessly clean cottage with charming details throughout with everything we needed including a well appointed kitchen that sported a slate sink and an antique Glenwood gas cook stove that was an absolute dream to cook on. Along with all these period details, the cottage had full internet service and excellent cellphone reception! The house sits on a hill overlooking a field of wildflowers and wild blueberry bushes beyond which one gets a view of the sea and nearby islands. And there was always a breeze. Perfectly located, we were in easy in walking distance to everything in Port Clyde including ice cream, the dock, fresh fish, groceries from the general store, restaurants, galleries, and a post office to send postcards from. It is just over a mile walk to Marshall Point Lighthouse and museum. And yet, with all this access, Frances House was amazingly private-feeling. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and look forward to visiting again soon!
