It was at pousada with a history
The restaurant wasn’t open at night which I think was not very good and we were not told this in advance. You needed to drive to the town at night to find a restaurant.

It’s a unique opportunity to spend the night in a real castle—along with the plusses of spacious room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with tub, comfy sitting area, and quiet at night.
The breakfast was wonderful and generous. Service was efficient and friendly.
10 minute walk down into town for good restaurants and beautiful river view.
The views from the castle are great—whether from your room or the outside ramparts or even the parking lot. (Very easy, free, and convenient parking available.)
Highly recommend and we would love to return some day.

unique experience to stay at a historical place with friendly staff
beds where very high, you had to jump up in bed. The heating in the bathroom was very high and no possibilty to turn it down

It was just incredible. The breakfast was satisfactory and cute, the location was just breathtaking and it's a really incredible experience to be staying in an old castle, we feel very blessed.
At check-in, the receptionist was very attentive -- We had booked 2 nights in separate bookings and she was able to bump us up to a suite to avoid us having to change rooms during our stay.
The wifi reaches the garden/pool area which was convenient to get work done without having to stay inside.

Magical castle behind impressive walls, large rooms, nice pool, great location, good breakfast.
Facilities (bathroom, chairs at the pool) are old. Need some renovation. Breakfast is good but I would not recommend the restaurant, not for the pool and definitely not for dinner. A few minutes walk into the town down to the river there are many good options.

Very nice and helpful staff. Wonderful pool in an amazing setting. Unique experience staying in a renovated castle on the hilltop. Breakfast was also delicious with a wide variety to choose from. Easy walk to town for dinner. Views from the hotel were like a postcard.
