we had an exceptional stay in Avani, the facilities were beautiful, the villa we stayed in was outstanding. the staff was super friendly and helpful, the food was delicious. the location might be not so convenient if you are on foot - but we easily reached the hotel by taxi and later rented a scooter so it was not a problem

excellent pools, friendly staff, great cinema nights, flexible staff who can help with requests, kayaks available, rooms are beautiful, hotel has a Mediterranean atmosphere, music played in the evenings live, nearby coffee shop is great

beach is a lagoon, not great for swimming, similar to lake, location is isolated but there is a nearby convenience store and some restaurants, however it does have peace and quiet with some nature hikes nearby, I think the private pool would have benefitted from a clean, facilities otherwise very clean

Hotel very good, I stayed in a room with a pool (villa), it was very quiet and pleasant, the restaurant offers Thai cuisine which I like very much, the staff very nice and helpful. Overall impression very good.

It's very far from the center and there's not much to do around. Great rooms so we didn't have to go out a lot.

We had an issue when we moved in but it was resolved to our satisfaction when we left.

lovely hotel, this was one of my favourite rooms throughout every hotel I stayed in whilst in Koh Samui, the layout was so spacious I was only here for 2 nights but enjoyed unpacking and making use of the space! everything was very clean and the amenities were all good quality. I never make use of the mini bar but as it was stocked well it actually came in very handy. breakfast was great and a range of items to order fresh including a great buffet, the location was perfect for me as I purposely came here for two nights to enjoy some tranquility away from the main areas. the hotel also offered a complimentary long tail boat/ snorkelling trip (you only pay 150 to cover insurance) our boat driver was excellent even though he was unable to speak English he took excellent care of us, we stopped at pig island for an hour which was stunning the ocean here is picturesque and we then stopped at another small island to snorkel, we were given clean equipment and I have to say the fish here were so close to me, it was by far my best snorkel experience on the island.

I had to be mindful of prices, most items don’t include tax and services so you always end up paying more for items which are already priced highly, for example I had a small treatment in the spa and it was one of the most expensive treatments I had in koh samui and sadly wasn’t anywhere near the standard of massage I had received for a quarter of this price elsewhere. There is a free shuttle to lamai and their other hotel in chaweng but in general the prices to get around are fairly high (in comparison to the east) so it would be best if you are able to rent a bike / car or stay closer to the main areas.
