Location and price were good

Very small rooms, not clean Left an item in the room, contacted them straight away and they said it was not in there, although we know it was

Good location rooms average dirty net curtains bar area and outside seating area were nice

Breakfast was chaos dirty tables everywhere children running around unsupervised food wiped out and not replenished restaurant very hot and stuffy all in all not pleasant though the food was tasty

The hotel was in a great location a short distance by bus from the city walls

The shower wasn’t great and unfortunately there was no one to repair it,we were offered another room but it meant moving all our things ,the maintenance crew don’t work at the weekend which I thought was a strange, that probably needs addressing

The staff was so nice and clean the breakfast was really good too .

Room service trays left in the hall didn’t really bother us just looks a bit messy when your 4 floors up and see trays on every floor.

Location was a little further from city centre than first thought, although bus stops and service was close and regular. Never had breakfast.

Bathroom was small.

The bathroom looked tired and well worn but was clean and toiletries provided. We were in a room on the ground floor by the function suites and were woken up early by delivery lorries arriving and parking by the back door from the car park.

Plenty of choice for breakfast and everything was freshly cooked. The bar was comfortable (not cheap) but had a decent selection of drinks. The room was quite spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. Tea and coffee provided in the room too. Would definitely stay there again as it's quite close to a bus stop into the city and is only £4 on the app to travel all day. It's also almost next door to the racecourse.

Breakfast was excellent, staff were pleasant and efficient. Location was good.

We thought the bathroom was a little small, the evening meal menu could have been better and there could have been more disabled parking spaces. Wi-Fi wasn’t particularly good either.

Cold and old food at 8 o'clock in the morning. King bed made of 2 very uncomfortable mattresses. very cold in the room. without a toilet brush. Unprofessional receptionists. When I left he asked me if everything was okay and I answered that not really and he tells me that he is happy 😂😂😂

Very good staff on reception. Was very pleased to be given a complimentary breakfast as I got to the hotel early and as I enjoyed it, I added a breakfast for the next morning as £12 a great price. Hotel is in walking distance of Central York, the room was spacious, clean and the walk in shower was nice.

Nothing. Didn't expect much from a budget place but was very happy with everything.

Breakfast was the best, choice of things was great the best we've had in all places we go.

Early evening we had to ask for more toilet paper, it never turned up, so had to ask again for it the next morning . Only minor, but should have only had to ask once.

Clean and tidy. Excellent service and the food was lovely.

A little dated in areas, few minor issues in the room, but nothing to complain about.

It’s a 30 minute walk to town. There is a local bus stop but you can still get pretty wet! Pillows needed replacing, bed was a little hard and the room was too hot (despite lowering the thermostat).

Bar facilities were comfortable.

We had 3 adults and 1 child - The room had 1 double bed and 1 small sofa bed for 2 people. Wafer-thin mattress, not enough pillows for the amount of people. Dust and cobwebs on the windows, the picture on the wall above the double bed had cracked glass, and the bathroom was tiny. 2 cups instead of 4 for 4 people (obviously really for 2 people) For the cost of £313 this was not acceptable. Really disappointed - would like a refund.

It was situated in a pleasant area. Lots of parking. Bus stop nearby to save driving into York.

We had a connecting door to the next room, and although locked you could still hear conversations from the other room.

Situation

Reception staff need better training: like making eye contact and perhaps smiling a little. We didn't find them particularly friendly. Signs about threats of £100 fines if we entered our car number incorrectly didn't make us feel particularly welcome either. Room was a bit tired. Curtains needed to be hooked up in places. Decorating (paintwork) definitely not done by a professional. Had to stop loo running at one point. And while it's good to have a warning, it doesn't stop the shower being dangerously slippery. Plus there are no grab handles. Also, having a no smoking policy is all well and good but you can certainly smell old smoke - on floor 4 at least.
