We were over charged by booking.com. They were happy to give a refund once they received an email from Sanctuary Rarotonga. Sanctuary Rarotonga never brothered to send this email despite several phone calls trying to sort it. We are over $300 out of pocket 😡

The facilities were good. The snorkelling was good. Breakfast was fine.

We had previously stayed at The Rarotongan Resort and found it OK, if a little noisy with so many kids. We expected its adults only Sanctuary sister resort next door to be a step up from The Rarotongan. Instead we found a bunch of 18-30 drunken "adults" in the pool making more noise than the kids next door. It was impossible to get away from the noise anywhere in the resort. The staff did nothing except look embarrassed. We cancelled our dinner reservation and went elsewhere, just to get away from the screeching.

Buffet breakfast was continental style - don’t think I’d bother again as the menu included similar foods including cooked which would have worked out cheaper. Was disappointed with the daily clean of unit and topping up of towels, soaps etc

had to ask for towels, room service was late in the Afternoon some days (stayed for 6 nights) about 4pm some days, buffet breakfast was not worth it more hot food should be included.

Majority of the staff working there were amazing with a great attitude, we had a really good couples massage at the spa on our last day which was a wonderful way to finish off the holiday; our therapists were both awesome. The room had easy access to the beach and lagoon, and there was snorkelling gear available for guests to use. The staff were attentive in the restaurant and bar, and the breakfast menu was delicious. Thought the sand floor restaurant was a unique experience, and the swim up bar was a fun touch. Despite the issues on the first day, the rest of the holiday was great.

I had my credit card charged twice for the full amount, and only was able to get refunded once I arrived as email was going nowhere and there was no urgency on their end to action a refund. Generally I wasn't a great start, as the check-in experience really wasn't good, arrived at 2am to be told we needed to have booked for the day before, if we wanted to check in (which I don't have a problem with) this was because it's 3pm check-in. When I had been messaging the reservation team, they were aware of the arrival time, but made no comment that we needed to book an extra night, saying our check-in time was fine. We also tried to arrange a taxi from the airport to the resort, which was confirmed, but was not available when we landed. We were directed to another taxi van by the staff member, but not told it was cash only - only after we were dropped off, again, no mention of the fee while we were next to an ATM. We paid cash to the desk to cover it, but it was still added to our bill for check-out - which we had to question. I think there is a large communication gap and a lack of information provided to guests, much of it was provided once arriving, rather than before, meaning you have to be quite diligent and ensure you have everything lined up. Had we known this info, we could've avoided a very stressful first day.

location was great .

house keeping was sub standard . only made the bed and changed the towels . never swept the floor that was sandy , didn’t take away empty water or wine bottles . left dirty pizza box . poor quality .
