This may be the top end of hotel accommodation in surf Mecca Baleal and is a very enjoyable place to stay. Stripped down shabby chic feel, friendly staff
and never too busy (though the ground floor restaurants can get busy since not just for hotel guests, and food is decent). Not too big so feels personal and always relaxed. Highlights are the rooftop sun lounging and pool/jacuzzi area (was never too busy, great views), the breakfast (amazing) and surf lessons from João Maria! Great hotel for families, but doesn't feel dominated by families, good mix of people.
Location is fine but at the top of the hill to main central area where beaches and peninsula restaurants and bars are (only 10-15 min walk, but hot hot walk). Generally the hotel feels like it could be awesome but has a series of little things that sometimes let it down - nothing major, but for the price you might have expected a bit more e.g. failed batteries in room door and security box door, e.g. the rooftop terrace has a bar but it is never open and so we went up and down to the ground floor to get drinks (we didn't mind, but as I say, for the room price...).

There is one door that should be equipped with a card reader so the hotel guests don't have to walk through the dining area all the time but can get out the back.

We had an amazing stay and the fact that everything you need is in the hotel itself, including yoga, rooftop terrace with pool/jacuzzi and most importantly the surfing school in the basement where you get dressed and equipped on the spot and driven to the beach with instructor and back to hotel and quick access to your room for a hot shower! The food was delicious and fresh and they accommodated my daughter's dietary needs. We rarely go back to the same places, but we would come back to the easygoingness of Surfer's Lodge
Nothing we disliked. It would be nice to maybe have bathrobes after surfing and maybe more bathroom amenities like body lotion, shampoo and conditioner.

When i stepped in the bar/restaurant area the staff at times were a bit pushy for me to consum.

Perfect stay! It was my second time at this lodge and everything is wonderful
Super comfy beds, great staff, super clean rooms, great terrace
Breakfast has a great selection and you can also always order any type of coffee / drink
Id just recommend to change a little the way chef works during breakfast since both times we had breakfast didn’t have any pancakes left or very little bacon & hot dishes
But that’s not a deal breaker, the offer is quite wide anyway

overall property and concept is nice, great decoration, friendly staff and good breakfast
small room, very small toilet and just one use for all body/hair gel, in general expensive for what you get
rooftop terrace/pool was having a private event which limits other guest use of the facilities

Liked the decor, the staff, the restaurant
The location wasn't as pretty as other places I've been, but it's ok. The pool and terrasse lounge, on the top floor, one of the attractions, was closed, although understandably.

nice communal space and breakfast! sure the pool area great in the summer, too. comfy beds.
rooms are really nicely done but tiny bathroom and think quite expensive for what it is.
