No heating in bathroom area

Very nicely appointed bedroom - we went for a superior one. Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast selection.

The chair at the dressing table had white stains on the seat pad and back, and the seam between them was full of crumbs. We had driven from Edinburgh after work, aiming for c.8pm. I had not booked a dinner table as we could not guarantee a specific arrival time. The snowy conditions delayed us so we were nearer 9pm. The hotel phoned us to see where we were. I said that I had earlier left them a voicemail to let them know of the delay but they responded "we've been busy". It was about 8.50pm and I asked if the kitchens might be still open, but we were directed to other places, including the Indian restaurant. That and all the other places we tried in Kirkby Lonsdale all closed at 9pm for food. A shame, as it was my wife's 60th birthday. I though the hotel might have offered at least something easy and quick - even a snack. We made do with some packets of sandwiches from the corner shop to eat in our room.

I have wanted to stay in the Hotel as we come to Kirby Lonsdale a few times a year and have stayed at other venues, but the Royal I imagined would have that luxury feel as the downstairs area is lovely.

We stayed in room 7 the toilet never stops running, the room upstairs you can hear everything the floor is so noisy especially through the night when you can hear people using the toilet, the room was freezing the wall heater did not work and i didn’t feel i wanted to leave a plug in heater on whilst we slept.

Breakfasts are superb. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room very Good

Beautiful building in great location

Unfortunately there was a reduced menu choice (Covid related ) and therefore we were disappointed to have to go elsewhere for dinner

Lovely breakfast, excellent service at the bar and in the restaurant. We had a lovely meal on Saturday evening, while the room and view (No.3) was outstanding. We would stay again, were we to visit KL.

No car parking. Very awkward to move car around to find parking. I suppose the front of the hotel could do with a refurb, although perhaps retains its 'traditional' nature.
