Strong unpleasant odour when you reach corridor where rooms are located. We had a twin room and mattresses were poor quality, too soft and cleanliness was below par.

Extremely uncomfortable beds - when we looked the actual divan below the mattress had collapsed. Very poor lighting in the room and my husband (6ft 4 rugby player) struggled to get in the shower cubicle as it was so small.

Rooms very dated and in need of a spruce up. There was poo on the back of the toilet seat when we arrived, and the headboard was mucky. The fire alarm went off on the Sunday morning around 7.30am. The fire exit in the corridor had a sign up saying not to use!! However we accessed it anyway. At the bottom of the stairs the fire door was instructed by a notice board plinth. This opened into the pub reception area. From here it wasn’t clear how to exit the building which was a worry given the alarm going off. As such I unlocked the main pub front door which the caused the burglar alarm to go off. Guests were stood in the car park for around 15 minutes with no staff in sight and the alarms still sounding. A cleaner walked down the road after around 15 minutes, and let herself in to turn the burglar alarm off. The fire alarm was still going and no attempts were made to check guests were all out safe or call the fire brigade. There was no co-ordination or organisation and the cleaner said we should have used that fire exit as we’d set the burglar alarm off!! Another member of staff turned up in a car 5 minutes later, walked inside and tried to turn the alarm off. No attempts were made to try and let guests know it was safe to return inside. It was obvious that no staff members were onsite overnight and actually it was the burglar alarm rather than the fire alarm that had prompted staff to turn up. Very worrying!!

There was an en suite bathroom and it was close to the work location.

There appeared to be no control over the other clientele in the rooms who were causing noise and various 'smells' emanating from the rooms. There was no facility to seek assistance throughout the night and in the morning. The bed was not comfortable. There was no breakfast option and no advice about where breakfast could be bought. Staff gave basic information, but were acting as bar staff rather than 'hotel' staff. (This is a training issue). Generally - my advice would be not to visit this hotel if you have to get up in the morning to work/have a tourist day/be in a good mood for friends and relatives. I booked this for a work colleague based on the reviews, but will not be using this place again.

Once you go to your bedroom after 10pm the only way out is via a fire exit down some metal steps. It had rained heavily overnight and at the bottom of the steps at least 2 inches of water had gathered which meant we had to walk through and drag our luggage through the water. If was impossible not to get wet shoes. I can't imaging how less abled people would manage. It is really unsafe and not at all fit for purpose.

Loud disturbance of pub guest arguing and swearing with someone right below window by entrance to pub. No intervention by staff. Fire alarm went off but building not evacuated. Guests stayed put while staff member went to re-set it.

Breakfast was not included. The shower could have been cleaner.

Good value. Not a good sleep as mattress not comfortable. Please put a good quality mattress topper on as this would make such a difference

Very friendly atmosphere, nice staff and very clean and comfortable room . We ate in the pub, the food was very good. The pub was accommodating of young children, we travelled to Sheffield for a cheerleading competition nearby and we had 3 lively girls who wanted to practice whilst we dined! We would definitely recommend and return.

Room was basic in terms of storage if i was to extend my stay or stay perhaps for a week Shower cubicle could be larger for greater comfort,and,there is no facility in the cubicle to put shower accessories.

Nothing. Will be OK if on a night out in Rotherham or Sheffield or for after a concert at the arena for adults/couples, if you aren't overly concerned with quality of room.

The room was very very warm making it uncomfortable and impacted our ability to sleep. The music was incredibly loud and went on well past 11. I know I was booking a room attached to a pub but I read the reviews before booking to check for comments about noise and couldn't find any. I was travelling with a 5yr old. Neither of us could sleep until the music stopped as it was that loud in our room I could make out Every. Single. Word. of every song. Including Billie Piper's Because We Want To at 11.30pm. If I wasn't so annoyed I would have appreciated the playlist. The property should never have allocated a booking that was clear it included a small child into a room wholly unsuitable for sleeping until past midnight. The side access door also didn't click unless pulled hard so was worried another guest couldn't close it properly and we wouldn't be safe.

It's a nice clean, friendly pub, free parking in a good location for work.

There was no breakfast offered. Exit in the morning is via the fire escape as the pub is locked an alarmed.
