The hotel sits just off the main drag in Montrose. It is an older building, so the structure is in keeping with its age. The room to which I was allocated was plain but well-appointed. The in-room facilities were standard and fresh. The room was very clean, and the toilet/shower room was equally clean, with toiletries provided. The bed was comfortable and fresh. The breakfast is good plain fare, speedily, pleasantly served, and heartily received. I will stay here again.

I have stayed here previously. The hotel is always nice, the staff are excellent and the food is delicious. This time I came by car rather than train and the car park is easy to reach from the hotel.
The single rooms tend to be at the top. I am talking my wife into staying next time and she wouldn't be able to deal with stairs to the top floor.

The hotel room was freezing cold. The wall heater did not work and I was provided with a fan heater. It was so cold in the room that I ended up sleeping in a jumper and hat
I assumed that it was just my room. However, I spoke to another guest that had the same problem
The heating was confusing. Control panel on the wall didn’t work and the bathroom had a radiator that didn’t work.
The hotel was ok
The food was reasonable and the staff lovely
But it was just incredibly cold

The dinner was excellent -the food was well prepared, tasty and plentiful. I could not fault it.
The mattress was on its last legs - it probably was not very good when it was new (a long time ago) but now it was extremely uncomfortable. I slept for three hours, and then suffered until I had to get up. The carpet on the stair up to the bedrooms is well past its sell-by date, and looks seriously dirty(even though it is regularly hoovered, I think the dirt is so ingrained, the carpet probably needs a wet clean, or replaced). I have stayed before, and I will again - hopefully the mattress will be replaced by then.

Great location. Large free car park opposite. Rooms clean, tidy and comfortable. Cooked breakfast was amazing

1st its dog friendly , clean dog bed in the room with a bowl of complimentary biscuits .
The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable .
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent so yes I would recommend The George hotel to anyone looking to visit Montrose , we certainly will stay there again.
There is nothing to complain about , we liked everything about our stay.

The George is a small friendly hotel which is really convenient for the centre of Montrose and as a base for the surrounding area and attractions, including Montrose Basin Wildlife Centre and House of Dun. Also ideal to stay for when visiting cities of Aberdeen and Dundee as Montrose is about halfway between the two. Lovely staff and comfortable, warm, clean room. Good breakfast available to set you up for a day of exploring! Also great value for money.
Needs a little updating with lighter colours for the decor.

Place is what it is for the money!
Window looked onto a nightclub that kept us up till after 3am and the radiator sounds like a machine gun going off every couple of hours which made my young boy very scared during the night so had to share a bed with me for comfort.

Location was good. But a little noise from the street but it was Saturday night. Breakfast was good lovely fruit salad and good cooked Scottish breakfast.

Pillows for my own personal liking too hard.

The carpet was wet in the room, the bathroom smelled bag, it was very loud and I couldn't sleep.

The location of the hotel was ideal for walking to the shops. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was excellent value.
The hotel wasn't very well lit outside, so finding it wasn't easy. We arrived in the dark.
We had a lovely standard lamp in the room that didn't work.
Dinner was expensive.
Only one chair in the room so one of us (me) always had to sit on the bed.
