We loved staying at Sok Phen’s homestay!! He was so kind and accommodating, he organised our trips to see Angkor and cooked us a delicious dinner. He was helpful and kind. Thank you so much Sok Phen!

This is an excellent location for exploring Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and the other temples. The traditional bungalows are a great way to experience Cambodian culture and home cooking. Sok Phen, the owner, and his family really made me feel at home. Sok Phen speaks decent English (as does his son) and is exceptionally helpful with arranging a tuk-tuk driver to the temples or nearby Siem Reap, as well bus tickets and private taxis to other destinations in Cambodia. He was very friendly and welcoming. Air conditioning unit worked well, clean, spacious rooms, all at a very affordable price. I recommend this homestay option to anyone who’s serious about visiting the many wondrous temples of Angkor Wat and wants something more than the usual sterile hotel experience.

Sok Phen was a very helpful host. He has three different huts and we were put in one different from the photos, but it worked just fine. He arranged to have his very nice neighbor pick us up at the airport. Somehow all six (2 adults and 4 kids and luggage) of us fit into his remorque/rickshaw. Our kids (ages 5-9) loved the experience. It was fun to be in an authentic neighborhood but there is not much to do there and you out of town from Siem Reap. Having his neighbor transport us was really key as we ate dinner in town and went to their lovely museum. We booked an Angkor Wat sunrise tour and the tour company was able to pick us up on the main road at 4:30am no problem.
It was New Years when we went (April) and so the noise was really loud one night as the whole neighborhood was celebrating. We also got to inadvertently experience the new year tradition of dousing people passing by on the road with water—lots of water! We were all soaked by the time we traveled from Siem Reap and dinner to the hut. It’s all done in great fun and our kids loved it!
I would say if you want a more authentic experience and to support really lovely local people, this is the place for you!
Due to the holiday, the riding in the Buffalo cart wasn’t an option. I think our kids would have loved that.

it was a gorgeous homestay, very peaceful and authentic with a great friendly host. He cooked me dinner and breakfast, picked me up and dropped me off at the airport and lent my a bicycle. also organised a tuk tuk driver to take me around Angkor Wat.
there were a lot of mosquitos in the bathroom but that’s only natural! it was also basic facilities - bathroom etc.

The host treated us like family and went out of his way to make everything perfect. If you want the real Cambodian experience you will not get it at a hotel but Sok Phen Homestay was the real deal. Everything will be taken care of from airport pickup to daily trips to the temples. It is also nice to support a local family by giving them business instead of a foreign corporation that owns the hotels.

Best Homestay in whole Siem Reap, maybe whole Cambodia! Lovely and caring host father and his family. They prepared us traditional (and by the way very delicious) Cambodian food, organized great trips with very friendly and likeable drivers, and the mosquito bed net was already installed! We felt safe and very welcome.
Our trip to Cambodia was too short to see all the cool stuff. We have to come back!

Mr. Phen is a wonderful host who helped me make the most of my short stay. Room is clean and comfortable and his wife is a great cook too.
Be prepared to hear the neighbors rooster give the wake up call but you'll want to see the sunrise anyhow.

As a lone lady traveller I felt safe and welcomed to this family home. The accommodation was clean and I welcomed that mosquito net as I usually get terribly bitten!!. I loved the food and the family/host was very accommodating over and above what you expect from any accommodation. I recommend that any traveller should to pay them a visit and experience the culture of these lovely people ……..
It did take a while to get that water warm in the shower so I just had a cold shower which was okay at the end of the hot day but not okay early one morning it was a body shock!!

Original and history behind it. Where the Khmer Rouge big wigs met. Beautiful surroundings and comfortable!

Sok Phen's Homestay is an amazing retreat from the city life. When we arrived in Siem Reap we were a little shocked how touistic this place is. However, staying with Sok Phen made us love this place. We felt immediately at home. His place is very cozy and welcoming (thanks to him and his wife) and one can do plenty of things. Just ask for his recommendation and he might take you on a bike tour, organize a safe tuktuk driver to show you Angkor Wat or one of the museums close by. He also offered my a drawing lesson with an incredible talented/skilled drawing teacher. Also, his wife is an amazing chef. We loved every minute at his place and every dollar was more than well spent.
There are many dogs in the village. They are all friendly but might bark at the night. It was completely ok with us, but just to let you know. Also, his dog might sleep on the veranda table in front of the house (where you have dinner). I didn't like that too much but we just cleaned the table and it was fine afterwards.
