Very nice house with beautiful view. Good equipment (washing machine, dishwasher, Netflix). A host is very kind and helpful. We recommend this place a lot!

Casa Il Faro is situated in the hills above Taormina, on the way to Castelmola. This used to be a restaurant run by the owner's family, but has been turned into a residential house. The host, Andrea, is most helpful and welcoming. There is a spectacular view from the house's terrace, overlooking parts of Taormina and the ocean. The kitchen is fully equipped, making it possible to cook your own meals. The closest food store is called Punto Simply in Taormina, but you will have to drive to Catania to find a large supermarket. It is possible to walk from Taormina, but seeing as the road is steep and narrow, it's not something most people would want to do every day, especially in the warm, Sicilian summer. It's easy to get to the house by bus, it leaves every hour from the bus station in Taormina and there's a stop very close to Casa Il Faro. We stayed for two weeks and had a rental car the second week, something I would recommend if you'd like to explore the surrounding areas. Make sure to visit the Chicchiricchi restaurant which is about a 10 min walk from the house, it's a proper, Sicilian family restaurant, way better than most of the restaurants in central Taormina.

There's really not a lot to complain about, but some people might not like that the house is somewhat out of the way, we found that to be peaceful and quiet however. Only the bedroom on the upper floor has AC, there is a powerful fan you can use in the other bedroom but it gets quite warm nevertheless (we had outside temperatures of above 30 degrees C almost the whole time). My two sons complained about the slow wifi speeds and poor coverage in the house, not really a big issue though.

The pictures do not do this property justice - not even close! The view from the balcony is stunning. The outdoor area is huge with plenty of places to sit and relax, enjoy the view and have a bbq. The inside is also much bigger than the pictures suggest. The apartment had two bathrooms, two bedrooms over two floors and a balcony on the second floor bedroom. The host was lovely and met us in the town as the property can be difficult to find on your own if you're not familiar with the area. I can't recommend Casa II Faro enough.
